- A couple of weeks ago when I wrote the demo song for the ESP LTD Hetfield Vulture, I binged Master of Puppets so hard for inspiration. I forgot just how kickass this album is, even 30+ years after its release. I'm sure I played some wrong (and I'm doubly sure y'all will let me know in the comments), but here are my picks for the top/best/greatest/most badass riffs off of Metallica's Master of Puppets. Kaosware Personally, I think it's not even the best Metallica album. I think Ride the Lightning is even better. As for the best metal album, I'd say The Number of The Beast.

Master of Puppets is solid completely threw the whole album/cd . Cant say that about to many artists recordings anymore. Kill em All and Ride the Lightning to. ( Master of the Down Picking !)

I have both the Vulture and the newly acquired IRON CROSS - I’ve never played with a Audio Interface before and now I’m extremely interested in getting one and making super awesome tones. I haven’t played for years but I’ve put the PS5 controller down lately as watching your videos have totally inspired me to play again

haha thanks man! Actually we didn't change anything from the Vulture demo in terms of amp settings or gear. But since this was a riff medley, not a guitar demo, we could turn up the bass and drums so it sounds like a more complete mix.

Every time i play the intro to disposable heroes then to the verse my forearm is brutally punished i play 10-50 GHS Boomers set for E standard and Drop D What yours? & Kudos to you for lasting long, you actually did it faster than the original version which is mindblowing. Eh, it's not that comfortable to track with honestly. I recorded and filmed this a couple of weeks ago, just now threw it all together. The Vulture is waiting at Sam Ash for some lucky sumbish to take it home!
Agufish I'm thinking about getting the Vulture. I have never had a Flying V but I think the most comfortable shape ever made is the Rhoads so I would assume a V would be pretty similar
I have been playing an Epiphone Annihilation V for the past 6-7 years as a main guitar, very comfortable for me personally! Resently bought a singlecut guitar and it's kind of strange for me to play, hurts my ribs cause i'm not used to it. Bottom line, it's what you get used to that is comfortable..

Awesome job, as usual. It would be cool to see you do a Pantera video like this one. Maybe the best riffs off of Vulgar Display of Power. But any of their albums would be great for something like this. Keep up the amazing work!

I believe the Hetfield pickups retain some passive circuitry, way more bitey than active, low mid range shit these days...awesome guitar!

I love it. In my opinion, the absolute best and most transparent attenuator on the market. I just never have a reason to use it anymore since I got the Torpedo Live for demos and I'm selling my RockCrusher it if you're interested.

Ah taking me back to my youth guitar! trying to figure out that album in my bedroom at 14! in the early 00s with crap internet and 1 pc in the house, so no internet tabs as siblings and dad always used the only pc. which in turned help me progress as a gutarist as i had to learn by ear (just james parts) the struggles of shit internet back in the day before social media 😁

Hey man, you're probably one of a very few people who does play it right. I often see Master of Puppets intro played on the fifth string and the Battery chords are usually wrong in most cases. Even some reputable teachers play it wrong. Just watch Battery and Master of Puppets played by two different guys from LickLibrary wrong. The guy played Battery like he never heard of gallop and metal in general and the other guy starts of with the intro on fifth string.

They are super easy to find used atleast where I live. Thinking about getting a white one, replacing pickups with passives and hardware with chrome to make it a proper 84 tribute

I use to love the absolute fuck out of the song master of puppets but only like last year maybe heard other songs on the album i have come to the conclusion battery and disposable heroes have the heaviest riffs on the album in my opinion

I wanted to get up and start doing the vocals in the middle of the office. I didn't though. I just bobbed my head with my headphones pretending to review some project files. Sigh.
Lol, yeahhhh overall that album kind of sucked, but there were also some pretty kickass riffs if you managed to get that far. That's actually one I'm pretty excited about getting to, because if you cut out all the filler (and there's a shitload of it) there are some seriously kickass gems.
HAHA. Well prove me wrong then, maestro! All I remember was that I was super excited about the new Metallica album in 2003 and bought the CD when it first came out. While listening to it on the way home in my car my joy turned to rage and I literally rolled down my car window and chucked it into the ditch. I never went back to it. Looking back I guess that was pretty unfair. I just didn't like the single mic, garage recording approach because it was so washed out and muffled. No wonder they fired Bob Rock after that album. Anyways I'll give it another go since I never really did in the first place.

So how do the Hetfields compare to the 81or 85? i have the dual 85s in my les paul and am thinking about switching them to the fishman moderns or KSE set, or maybe the hets? I have the 57/66 set in another guitar and those are awesome, but not quite what I'm looking for in the gibson.

They can be comfortable.

Nahhh, it's basically an attempt to do an artificial bokeh effect (where the subject is in focus, and the background is blurry). The background with my messy desk, sidetable and amps is just too busy, so I wanted to kind of blur it out, give the shot more focus. My lens isn't good enough to separate the depths of field.. But no, the one on the top is my 100HDM and it's awesome.

Half of them I kind of knew from before. The ones I didn't, I used tabs to get a general idea, but some of them were just wrong so I used my ear for those.
