    Reso You are such a legend in my eyes. Always opening my eyes to awesome techniques going back to your war machine tuts. I'd say you're one of my favorite Dnb producers for sure and your willingness to help others get their ideas out their head puts you above all the rest. Love "Move it"! such a beast. Respect.

    Just a tip for any Logic users. If your concerned about being in the red, in logic since your always looking at the output level on the fader by default, you should select audio input monitoring, under option/audio at the top. That way your now looking at the input level of that channel. 9 times out of 10 this level will be clipping, even when the output level on the channel shows your not. To bring the input level down on the channels you will need to insert the gain plugin that comes with logic as your first plugin on the channel, and attenuate the input level from inside that plugin. Just like on an analog board, the gain at the top is your input level, and the channel fader is your output level to the master channel. I always do this now on every channel, that way I have more headroom to mix and make sounds gel together better. Especially with plugins synths being so hot. Before I discovered this I would mix tracks and they would always sound a bit harsh, and I never really had the headroom in the mix to make things sound right. I didn't realize i was looking at the output level on each channel, which would look fine, while the input was actually clipping.

    I don't feel as silly knowing a legend also likes to be OCD and manual about their chopping. I know there's probably great tools out there that will realistically give me the same results, and I bet I'd trust such a tool after a long time of monitoring it's performance and not really saving any time, but... I don't actually chop that often anyway. I love taking segments of jazz progressions etc. and making my own with them by individually repitching, stretching and recontextualizing with my own notes and processing, but doing those few chops in the good old audio editor that's already open anyway is about as fast, especially cause I can quickly do fade in/out, denoise, analyze, whatever, FL's Edison is pretty nice.
    Bonus points for how it often kinda makes me wanna mess around with the sample more, even if it's just seeing if there's any cool waveforms to use as oscilators, or longer segments to use as a wavetable in something like the free and amazing Vital synth, maybe as a resynthesis sample in something like Harmor, which can basically turn it into a tuned wavetable with it's scaling too. (Savant has some masterclasses using Harmor that way)

      Logic 9 for sure

    • @jakebutler1095
      @jakebutler1095 10 лет назад +2

      I wouldn't say that a lot of them just probably haven't updated because they probably still have a lot of 32 plugins they use. You can have both versions of Logic on your computer i have Logic 9 and X and they both are cool. It all depends on what you are comfortable with some people aren't interested in new features because that's what works for them and vice versa.

      The reason that every producer still uses logic 9 is that they all are used to this program and don't want to loose time re-learning the program ... I personally think that logic X is better ...

    • @davidmartiniTV
      @davidmartiniTV 10 лет назад

      ThunderWiz4rd
      I have both and i need to say, that Logic X has a better cpu using. And its much better in the overview. If you have your plugins in 64 bit go and buy Logic x. You can also use your Logic 9 shortcuts in Logic X.

    I liked Logic X until it almost blew my eardrums out. Love the interface, mixing, and all the instruments, etc, but they just don't have the talent to eliminate bugs. Seems like they fix bugs then they come back later or in a new version. Apple converted me to Ableton. And Ableton I'm sure thanked them for it. Im not complaining either...
