Plus: the home office have launched a shock operation to detain asylum seekers ahead of the local elections; and speculation is rife about Sangita Myska after she was taken off air at LBC.

Any racism is sickening . However Humza walked right into it given his white rant when 96% of Scotland remains white, How dare he treat the people that welcomed his parents from withopen arms when they came to Scotland from Pakistan. He should have been forced to stand down immediately .
I was educated in Scotland in the 1970s . We were told at high school that if we had relatives in eastern block countries and we wanted to enter the forces then we wouldn’t get past officer status. What about 2nd generation immigrants ? There seems to be an issue with some of them.Britain Politicians owe a duty of care to the people that elected them and not only to certain cohort.
Finally while support for an independent Scotland has not diminished by a lot , the snp has demonstrated that they are shite at politics and running the country.

I am puzzled by Humza's tactics here? The only conclusion I can come to, is he caved in to the reactionaries in the SNP, but why he would do this, I am not sure? The reactionaries I refer to, include Fergus Ewing, a left over from the days when the SNP were referred to a tartan tories, an apt and accurate description of them.
A horrible individual, particularly given his interview on Radio Scotland today. Referred to the Greens as extremists, which they are not! This is not only an inaccurate statement, but a shameful one! Whatever your opinion of the them, they are not extremists, they are democrats! Their policies, and indeed their party structures demonstrate this clearly. His comment says more about him, than the Greens.
It would be a horrendous mistake for the SNP to now give sway to reactionaries and bigots like Ewing and Forbes. They would be out on their arse, before the door could hit it!!

Of course the right-wingers will be happy and easier for people in England to criticise them but from free university tuition to free prescriptions, a fairer tax system than England and Wales, cutting poverty and more ambitious green targets Scotland's government have brought in changes, the SNP have done more that just talk about independence. The Scottish parliament has a more proportional system than Westminster making it harder to get a majority for one party, SNP are one short of that and Humza decided to pull out of a agreement with the Scottish Green Party before they had a vote on it, then faced a vote of no confidence. But if a new leader has the same just under majority support how will they no face the same issue? The other parties are all well short of a majority for their leader to be first minister too.

One point that was not clarified: the Tory VONC was going to be in Yousaf personally - and would have been non-binding, so even if it passed, there would be no legal obligation on Yousaf to resign, although politically he might have felt he had to. The Labour VONC is in the Scottish Government as a whole, and if that passed, the whole government would have to resign, and if no new government won a VOC within 28 days, an election would follow (and this would be an extra election, there would still be another in 2026). Presumably that vote will still happen, and if Swinney is chosen as the new SNP leader, the VONC almost certainly fail. If they choose Forbes, it could well succeed as not only the Greens, but the more progressive SNP MSPs, would find it very difficult to work with her.

Avi Hyman shakes his head before the question/statement has even been asked/made by Sangita. It is clear he is preparing to to deny whatever she says without knowing what she is about to say.

Great bread chat. I have a question- I bought a seeded sourdough bloomer from Lidl yesterday. I'm never sure how to cut it to maxiumise the surface area to put stuff on it. I tried a diagonal cut. Is this the best way to do it?
