  • We did a side-by-side downscan comparison of the Lowrance Active Imaging 3-in-1 and the new HD transducer. To eliminate many variables, both transducers were mounted on the Ranger Z522D boat. Then both dual camera mounts and sonar recordings were used to obtain the down imaging data. Lowrance HDS Pro 12" units were used for recording. And the Reefmaster viewer was used to play back the log files. The goal is to show you a real life comparison to help you make the decision if you want to upgrade your transducer.

    I'm not sure what happened to the panels showing the actual screen shots in the beginning. They looked good in the video editor, so something happened during the rendering process. Again, another reason that I prefer using the Sonar log files and the Reefmaster Viewer.

    Great job with the side to side comparisons.

      Thank you! I'm still figuring out this video editor, it's a good thing that I know boat electronics much much better.

    Yes, I definitely see a bigger difference on the down scan vs the side scan. Whereas, the side scan one could make a call either way, on the down scan the HD is noticeable better. Great work my friend

      First, thanks I'm glad that you got something out of the video. Thanks for watching and being a subscriber.
      Yes, the downscan is noticeably better on the HD. I can't wait to get back on the water (where it is a lot warmer) to test out the 1.2 mHz setting. And for that matter, all of the settings to see how I can get better images. To me, I like to be able to run two sets of transducers on the stern without interference. It gives me lots of scanning options and backup options too.

    Great video. It seems very close to me.

      I did the video on the St Lawrence River out of the Massena NY ramp. Is that what you are thinking?
      Oh, thanks for watching the video I hope that you liked it and also subscribed to my channel.

      That's funny, I just reread your comment. And yes, the HD and 3-in-1 are very similar in image quality. I need to try that on different types of water where I may get different return signals.

    were you using the s3100 module for the hd transducer?

    • @garrywoodruff960
      @garrywoodruff960  3 месяца назад

      Yes, the 3100 module has the HD transducer connected. Actually, I am using the fish reveal (FR) version of the HD transducer and that requires the S3100 module to fully function.

    The images look very clear. Are these units setup with ping synchronization?

    • @garrywoodruff960
      @garrywoodruff960  8 месяцев назад

      Yes they are using the sync capability. The right console unit (3-in-1) is synced with the S3100 module (HD FR). I am planning on doing another video showing the effects of the enabling/disabling of the sync on the units.
      And thanks for watching!

      I just need a couple of warmer days to get to a lake to film it. That's not easy up here as it has been colder than I like.

      @@garrywoodruff960so I have a HDS Pro and a live and I get terrible crosstalk when I try to run the old AI 3n1 or my airmar sonar with the HD ducer. If I purchase the s3100 module will I possibly be able to run these transducers without cross talk? Thank you for your time

      If you put the Airmar and HD on the 3100 and the older 3-in-1 on the Pro and connect the blue (3100) and yellow (Pro), then then enable sync then you will eliminate the noise.
      I run the HD FR with an inhull transducer to the 3100 module. And the 3-in-1 (NON HD) and inhull to my Pro unit. WIth sync enabled I do see any noise. If I disable the sync then I do see the noise, (There will be a video on noise as soon as I am well enough to get my boat and do the filming.)
