Looks like you gave them a white primer coat first followed by a finish coat of black. The hornets won't have to worry about rust in the future, either.

@@wasphunter7131 i actually did that a few years back working maintenance (had to handle hornets but had 0 gear and didn't wanna get close). Didn't hit the nest, but dropped a decent number of them as they went about their business.
It greatly weighs them down, and assuming you have 2+ cans firing at a nest, i'd guess that it covers them so thoroughly that they can't even see or escape. It's thick enough, with enough adhesive power that it may well seal them in _faster_ via the early leavers.
That said, yes, it easily the most satisfying way that i have ever killed wasps, and a pro doing it to a nest would easily be an amazing video.

@@jimmy_oldsHere's some info I've gathered from videos about yellow jackets (other wasps may be different):
      > Boiling water will kill yellow jackets.
      > If using water/juice in a trap, adding a squirt of dish soap will break surface tension, so when the buggers fall into it, they will sink and die.
      > One guy uses Dawn Clear de-greaser dish soap because:
      >> It is environmentally friendly (often used by nature conservationists).
      >> Using a "de-greaser" dish soap will dissolve the wax covering on the abdomen of the insects (he explains), and they will die because they can't' breathe.
      >> He uses a water/Dawn mixture and a sprayer. Too close for me--those suckers are mean!
NOTE: I don't know if other dish soap brands will work as well.

I enjoyed this and subbed. Pretty good show but just adding my experience. After getting attacked mowing at home I experimented to get rid of a ground nest. I used a 10 ft long pvc with a few inches of rather curved pex stuffed in the end, poured in a good fill of Rose Dust into the pex and extended it to the hole, blasted into the pvc with canned air and the nest was dead the next day. Rose Dust was all I had and it is very inexpensive. I took that method to my work at a 16 building apartment facility and we never had make an emergency call to Terminex again. Kids pointed out bald face balls and it worked very well on them too. You observed when the ball that was cut open there on the bench it was fully infused. Waiting alone would have done the dead. We had a beekeeper suit but never needed it for outside work.

Petroleum distillates pass through the exoskeletons, and bond directly to the insects nervous system. They lose motor control, and often lose the ability to breathe. Petroleum distillates are in spray paint, most insect killers, and gasoline. The latter is banned as an insecticide by the EPA, but would be an extremely efficient insect killer. Direct contact with the paint would impact motor control and coordination. The fumes would also be very toxic to them.

I didn't have the protective suit or experience in this like you. I planned it and attached them at 10 PM when they were sleeping. That was scary, but with planning, I was lucky it worked well. I was contemplating using a torch on them, but the great stuff was a much better weapon. it works very quick and is easy to handle. That was the last one I've had to deal with. The paint did a great job for you. Besides coating them, the fumes assisted in taking them out.

I have quite a bit of experience with Hornets, and it is best to leave them alone, unless they are near your home, or any area occupied. They are not aggressive like Yellow Jackets. They won't ruin your picnic, or chase you around. But they will certainly protect their nest. On a different note, last year I was mowing a yard, and weed whacked all over a Yellow Jacket nest, and they were flying all over the place, but they did not sting me, WIERD... I have never been that lucky before.

The paint plugs their breathing hole on their thorax. It also star hardening immediately. They can't flap their wings and they suffocate.

When I was 3 or 4 years old, one morning I discovered a black wasp nest in an exterior wall of our house. I found a can of silver spray paint and sprayed the crap out of those wasps and the hole they were crawling in and out of. Needless to say, my parents weren't amused when I showed them what I did.

Try spray adhesive, or give it a good shot of acetone (fingernail polish remover).
    Or ether, or hairspray.
A little shot of oven cleaner might do it, too.

In Costa Rica people spray diesel oil on wasp nests. Have you tried that? It seems pretty effective. The oil is thin enough to spread around and penetrate all over the nests, but also sticks to their wings so they can't fly, a bit like the black paint. I guess it also intoxicates them a bit, though diesel is really not that toxic.

Most exterminators spray these nests and go home. You don't! You like to mess them up and have a bit of fun with them. It's the sort of thing l would do too, so l really enjoy watching your videos, they make me laugh. But also, you get close to the action, which is more than most youtubers do! Thanks for the entertainment!
