The WRC is the FIA World Rally Championship, a tough motorsport using rally cars on real roads around the world. Watch the best rally drivers battle on gravel and asphalt roads with mud, rain, dust, ice and heat! Watch high speed action as the rally drivers power slide and drift round narrow corners, go flat out over a big jump or through a watersplash, handbrake turn round a hairpin, survive a big moment, or have a massive crash! Rally requires maximum attack and careful tactics to become world rally champion.
Each rally has timed sections called special stages, on closed roads. Drivers complete these stages as quickly as possible. A co-driver reads pace notes that explain the hazards ahead. Rally drivers use the same rally car to travel to each stage on public roads, following normal traffic regulations. The crew which completes all the stages in the shortest time is the rally winner. Championship points are won using the same scoring system as Formula 1. The championship is administered by Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), motorsport's world governing body.
Over 30 countries have hosted WRC rallies. Rally Monte Carlo, Rally Argentina, Rally Finland, Rally Portugal, Tour de Corse on Corsica, France, Rally Sardegna on Sardinia, Italy, Safari Rally in Kenya, Acropolis Rally in Greece, Rally New Zealand, Rally Australia, Rally Japan, Rally GB, Rally Catalunya, Rallye Deutschland, Rally Mexico and many more.
Some of the world's greatest drivers have won the FIA World Rally Championship for Drivers, like Colin McRae, Carlos Sainz, Walter Röhrl, Stig Blomqvist, Petter Solberg, Ott Tänak. The list of world rally champions includes many Finnish rally drivers like Juha Kankkunen, Tommi Mäkinen, Ari Vatanen, Marcus Grönholm, Hannu Mikkola. French drivers have had success with Sébastien Ogier, and 9 times world champion Sébastien Loeb. Famous drivers from other motorsports have come to try rally driving like Ken Block from Rallycross, and Robert Kubica and Kimi Räikkönen from F1.
Car companies compete for the prestigious FIA World Rally Championship for Manufacturers awarded to the most successful WRC constructor. Winners include Citroen, Hyundai, Volkswagen and Peugeot. Ford have had success with the Ford Escort, Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta when the M-Sport team won in 2017.
The 1980's featured the iconic Group B rally cars like the Lancia 037 and Delta S4, Peugeot 205 T16, MG Metro 6R4, Ford RS200 and Audi Quattro.
Japan dominated the 1990s with the Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza, and Toyota Celica and Toyota Corolla. Toyota returned to the WRC in 2017 with the Toyota Yaris WRC, winning in 2018. Hyundai won in 2019 and 2020 with the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. Find out about the latest winners and champions at www.wrc.com
What a brilliant example of driving on the rears! Just spectacular to see the front end pointing off the cliff on corner entries and exits.
The best young driver on the wrc
He compete evenly and the older ones. More experience and he will become a champion!
Aged like fine wine
1st there was the Loeb era, coming to the end of the Ogier era, Welcome to the Rovanpera part 2 era... complete domination inbound.
The return of the Flying Finns!
It's been 19 years since a Finn won the WRC
I don't think there really ever was a Rovanpera part 1. Harri only ever won 1 rally. Good on gravel for sure though.
I think they made Loeb leave cause he was winning all the time. Even with restrictions for the winning car (limited diferential options) he still won. If you watch onboard, you cant believe how good he is
The Sebastian era
Excellent driving and excellent navigation.....5 🌟 stars
What a stage!
Flying Rovanperä
Can you please add foot cam and cockpit cam in some sort of split screen style. Plus accelerator & brake pedal level and steering angle would be cool as well!
Maybe a free driving lesson with Kalle.
I agree! At least give us the accelerator and brake levels!
The telemetry is the important
The youngest and best driver from🇫🇮
Right now, yes
But not the best finnish driver of all time
@@Idfk16_ -yet.
@@Idfk16_ Toivonen was the best..
@@Sotapoliisi you literally ignoring Juha Kankkunen
@@abenas40 i dont.. Henkka was best with those beast cars..
There only 2 ways he will loose Rally Finland 2021: One, if something wrong happens to his car (puncture, engine problem, etc) and Second, if he crashes out. Other than that this kid is UNSTOPPABLE.
He crashed out

Great Skills
Dissolve the timer and finally reduce speed. Incredible Rovanpera
He will be world champion within 3 years !
He don't need to wait,he already became one
Seeing him drive right in front of me I got goosebumps. Bless him. He was my favourite in Athens.
That was a huge bang when he hit that stone
LETS GO KALLE!! My absolute favorite driver
For some reason I read "Kimi Räikkönen" and was very surprised. Halfway through the video I expected to hear him yelling at the co-pilot "Just leave me alone! I know what I'm doing!"
Them I realized my not so woken up morning brain failed me
This guy might be a champion someday.
I remember that like yesterday, he was only 8-9years old and drives 200km/h on the iceroad.
Heja kalle
Why did he slow down before the finish line? Or did i miss something?
Just a shakedown stage video. No reason to show all your cards at once for others;)
smooth powersliding!!
Good driving !
waste of beautiful action sequence as only covered from dash cam sad ! SMH
Shout out to finnish people
Master in work
Why do you have a Shakedown stage before the rally starts?
It's primarily meant to help the drivers have a feel of the rally stages at competitive pace and hence fine-tune the settings on their cars for the actual competitive stages
For drivers to test the setups for the cars and for many this is the first time on the surface they are going to drive for the weekend not all have the resources to have a proper test days. So that is the reason to make sure everything is in order for the upcoming rally (setup and the overall cars condition).
@@f1racing_24 Well, not so fine-tunning, since all the stages need special, often very different setups. I remember a team principal saying that "shakedown is useless nowadays" (he wanted the qualy format back, if I recall correctly, which indeed would also work to get a grip of the rally's conditions.)
why do they slow down significantly at the end before finish?
It's a shakedown run. No need to drive full out, there's no clock. They do it to get a feel for the cars setup and the conditions of the stage.
*there is a clock, I was wrong in saying that.
@@raycar1165 i am aware its not an important run but thought its interesting they deliberately slow down a lot just before the end as if to make the time slower
even slowing down, he smaches the lap times.. unbelievable
bacause he don't want to reveal his real pace, amazing
Jonne says to slow down. There must be some special reason for this.
Where can I watch this in the us (channel)
Percorso molto tecnico ..
The car dives surprisingly lot while braking in downhill.
Did he slow right down before the flying finish?
Yes, the co-driver told him to slow down, couple of times actually.
Rather unimpressive
Love Toyota rally cars
People still stand this close to the track?
welcome to Greece
Wtf?? You expect them to be on the top mountain?
There is no stadium seating for ralley. (-ss) It's when they're on the track that's a problem.
It isn't a track it's a road.

Χερια ματιααα απο αλλο πλανητη
sounds way better than WRC 10 and I don't see any smoke torch along the stage
So, was he on soft tires now?
Why is video quality so bad? Not even 60fps. Is this event Host serious?
If car not boat, why swim?
He's doing Scandinavian flicks for the most part. Sometimes the difference in grip from one side of the car to the other could be making the car unstable, and ultimately that's also the driver's driving style - useful to feel the grip below, for example.
Muzhik !!! Dont leave from toyota team = fail
As talented as Rovanpera undoubtedly is, I think there's a high chance it will be a Hyundai lockout of the podium. The i20 has greater pace than the yaris.
You don't understand much about cars uh?
This did not age Well.
WRC 10 ❤️
Meanwhile Kalle himself is doing eventual streams playing RBR.
Greece used to be brutal. This is boring.
This was only a ss not the entire Acropolis rally.
@@digital1987 The entire rally was pretty much the same. Just light dirt everywhere. Few elevation changes. No water, no dangerous spots....it was BORING.
@@xXturbo86XxIf that so don't watch it next year. Acropolis never had water spots. It used to be on May so its summer in Greece. The drivers also said that it was tough. Next year probably some of the ss will change. So stay tuned, stop be so negative and enjoy the sport.
@@xXturbo86Xx Only thing you have to do , is reading the opinion of.....
Walter Rorl , Ari Vatanen , Carlos Sainz , Harry Selstrom , Jean Todt , Jean Ragnioti , Tommy Makinen , Roger Clark , Hannou Mikola , and some co-drivers like David Richarts , Nicky Grist , Dereck Ringer , L.Moya , Gunar Palm , J.Vial , H. Lindon and many many others.....
It is obvious my friend that you have not ever "followed" the "REAL Acropolis" rally of that era...
When the rally was crossing the whole Greek "mountains" for 4 days AND nights(have you ever seen a night SS??) , the services were taking place at the end of some SS's , and the mechanics of some teams managed to change 4 shock absorders , a complete rear suspention "Atlas"(Ford Escort MK II) , and front and rear braking system , in 22' (Vatanen - Richards) !!!!...
Note that at that era , most of the SS surface was without "make-up" and the gravel was real gravel with stones like a kids head....
Now all "rallies" are just "rally sprints" just for money...
Participations ?... Over 140..
Final in time list ?... 15 , 28 , 32 !!!!... "Factory teams" ?...
Over 20 , and not 2(Toyota & Hyunday with a "smell" of Ford)....
Which one do you prefere my friend ??...
ACROPOLIS RALLY , or so called , "Acropolis Rally Sprint" ???...
And the MOST important..
SPECTATORS ???....
About 15 to 20+ THOUSAND people each SS !!!...
Even if it was 3.30 after midnight !!!!....
My best Regards my friend...
From an ex co-driver 72 yo now !!!!...
