My favorite people in this video are the guy at 3:33 who's sweater matches his skates but he's also trying to learn a new trick with a cigarette in his mouth 😂. Living up to the French sterotype right there. Also Stacy. I love Stacy. She's dorky and adorable

I love that you made this videos. Those old rollerblades were really excellent! I have been skating on a similar pair of Rollerblade e-pros from the late 90s for the past twenty+ years and they are still amazing. I hate that you can't get the three buckle closure system on modern skates. They were so easy to get into and out of. Clip clip clip & go! No need to struggle with laces and ratchet straps, no pulling and pushing. Set it to your size and forget it. Easy in and easy out. I love my new Rollerblade Twister 110s, but I haven't yet bought a new pair of 80s, because I still love my vintage skates.

it's very interesting how you go from pro to beginner on those quad skates lol

The same thing happened to me when I got my first quad skates for rollerdancing & rink skating. They were harder to steer and felt so SHORT! But now I use both quads & inlines, and switch back and forth between them with no problem.

LOL you really didn’t know this? 😂
If wheels are removed just flip those black tiny thingies for 2nd and 3rd wheel and then they’re rockered! 👌

I'm 14 and I've been using these for a good few years now; I never even knew they were vintage! So happy to know they are rockered, but I had to get new wheels as they broke while I was skating

...my first pair of inlineskates were that in the video :)... and the difference between them and what I have now is immense... but for a beginner they are good.

I had a pair like this in the 90s! Haha! Do not miss skating on them at all! Would love to see you in quad skates more bro! Spread the skate love! This video is making me think I should make one on how to transition from inlines to quads!

Those are my Rollerblades (or my type/model rather)... from the late 90s--I kid you not, exact same brand. I took them into a skate shop the other day and the owner exclaimed, "Vintage skates"! Glad to see you try them out and let me know what you think of them compared to moderns skates (which I haven't ever really tried). I always felt a bit restricted in them; however, I plan on getting some new ones soon as soon as the 2019 line comes into the skate shop.

Rollerblade Viablades were my very first skates in 1998. I've owned MANY inline skates since, but there was always something lacking in those newer skates, and I would inevitably go back to my Viablades. When it came time to replace them, I went on eBay and got the exact same 1998 skates! My favorite things about the Viablade are the lightness of the skate and how well the non-metal frame dampens road vibration, as well as the ease of adjusting the buckles. The only thing I didn't like was the ABT heel brake... bulky & noisy. Since I do use a brake for skating hills, I simply removed the ABT brake and put on one from some Rollerblade junior skates. My current skates are Seba High, which I love. But... they're heavy, they take forever to put on and lace up, and it took over a YEAR (and lots of pain, heat-molding & gel ankle padding) to get to where they didn't kill my feet. I still have my 1998 Viablades, and I STILL skate in them when I want to give my feet a rest. I agree that putting new, 80 mm wheels on them makes them amazing.
I always felt that Rollerblade couldn't really improve very much on the original Viablade skate design, other than maybe a more modern, lower cuff. For years after that, most new skates had soft boots which were very comfortable, but not as supportive & responsive as the stiff boots. When the stiff boot designs started coming back again, it was like maybe they realized it's hard to improve on something that's pretty close to perfection. The Twister version introduced a few years ago was similar in performance... I loved how they handled, but absolutely could NOT use them due to the pain they caused my ankles. :'( So... once again.... I went back to my beloved old standbys - 1998 Viablades!

I still have Bravoblade GL from 1995 or so and they’re awesome! 👌
They also had an ABT brake which is great for beginners and steep hills! 👍

Be careful with those skates, especially if you demand them too much. I tell you that my Rollerblade Lightning skates, after 25 years (1993) literally exploded on my feet, and from skating I saw myself barefoot in a second, miraculously I did not fracture a foot haha. The wheels are still impeccable and yes, all four are rockerable, turning a kind of spacers that go between the frame and the screws... I loved these skates.

My first pair of blades was a cheapo set from the late 80’s and they were AWEFUL. The wheels were the worst part. They were way too hard, and it made for a really uncomfortable bumpy ride. They also had NO BEARINGS. Just rolled on the axles. So you would stop for a second after every push. And the noise they made was deafening.Somehow I found my way to a pair of K2’s about 10 years later, and it was amazing, the difference. I used them HARD, and wore the wheels down to nubs. You didn’t miss much with those horrible old vintage skate wheels.

Hey Tiago, awesome video as always! Just a question since you've tried the hc evo pro with both rockered frames 3x90 and 4x80. Do you feel that much of a difference? I'm asking because I was used to slalom with the hc evo with the rockered 3x90 but recently I tried the seba cj with the rockered 4x80 and man, what a difference! I know the skates are completely different but I felt the rockered 4x80 more maneuverable than the 3x90. How do you feel about that?
    Keep up the great videos!
