I'm an American that moved from Calif. to Cebu in 2010. One of the nicest things about living in the Philippines is the people. You're absolutely right about their positive attitude. When I see some of the videos of American women complaining about men I'm soooooo glad I married a Filipina. "Where have all the good men gone"? To the Philippines to find good women.

Agreed. All american retired men stay in the ph and their wives love them and 100% will take care of them. There might be some bad filipina women but its just a small percentage but mostly all filipina women are caring. Its just our culture and the way we were raised.

Thank you for making these lovely videos of the Philippines. I'm glad people from around the world (not just the locals) can see the beauty of the Philippine Islands, and the beauty of our rich culture. You are "The Ambassador" for the Philippines. You not only help educate people globally about Philippines, but you also help our tourism flourish. Because of your videos, my husband decided to retire there, and just like you, he wants to experience the positive energy that the Filipinos have. I totally agree with you with all the negativity that's happening globally. That's why my husband and I are ready to come back there and stay for good. MORE POWER TO YOU and YOUR BLOG!! Here's to your success and happiness. Keep smiling!

I completely agree. Filipinos are amazing people, their positivity and support is completely infectious - I love it. I recall one afternoon in the Philippines with my wife's family, and we were doing karaoke. They all wanted me to sing to join them... I KNOW I sounded absolutely awful and they should have all been covering their ears. But they all clapped along, helping me along through the song and gave me praise at the end of it. In Australia, people would throw things at me or laugh at me and tell me to stop. That positivity and support is incredible.

Hi Jonathan, I have never had the opportunity to visit the Philippines, but it seems to me that the Filipinos have very strong family values and great respect for each other and strangers as well. In the United States and many other places the great importance of a strong family unit as has sadly been lost with many divided families. Your video brought to mind a Bible verse in Proverbs that says "A word in season, how good it is! A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver." I live in Northwest Indiana (USA) and was raised by very supportive parents and extended family as well. I am a 47 year old man born and raised in Northern California. I spent (only) a month in the philippines way back in 2015, and knew almost immediately I wanted to move there permanently one day! Jonathan you speak the truth my friend. There is truly something special about the filipino people and culture. I'll say it again as I have in a couple of your other videos, I love the content you give us to enjoy. I, like you love to interact with the locals, puts a huge smile on my face to watch you play games with the kids in the street or get invited to someone's house who you just met for thier child's birthday party and you end up singing karaoke! It's exactly how I'd want to live my life there as well. Also, don't sell yourself short, I think you are and interesting person and would enjoy meeting you some day. Thanks for all you do!

"Proud to be pinoy" is what mostly you'll read on the comments at the slightest mention of filipino and philippines by these bloggers. Filipinos are an easy cashcows on social media because of that...and they fucking hate to admit it.

I've lived in the Philippines for 14 years and the kindness of the people here is one of the main reasons why I've never left. Filipinos routinely address me as "Sir Greg." Try to get that greeting in the United States! While there are certain aspects of life in the Philippines can drive you to distraction (try getting a driver's license or registration for your vehicle), I've long since shrugged it off as Life in the Philippines. Good luck with your channel. I'll watch for your next vlog.

Hi Jonathan, I am happy that you are having a fantastic time in the Philippines.
It is refreshing to hear you talking and spreading positivity about Filipinos. Please allow me to share a brief info of myself. I grew up on an island south- west of Manila in the Philippines. Immigrated to Australia at 25yo. I have seen and experienced both cultures, so I can relate to what you're saying here.
Across the board in the Philippines, respect for everyone especially the elders and the sense of family belongingness are a big part of our culture. I remember one time, I got told off by my Father because I accidentally made a mistake of calling one of the elders by their first name which is considered very disrespectful. And boy, never again was I to make that same mistake.
Helping others is another one, and being hospitable to the point of giving up the best bed/room in the house to visitors, are normal.
Generally, we are a happy bunch regardless of what is happening in our personal life. This is who we are and a lot more.
We also are patient, and will accept a bit of insults and disrespect to a degree. Nothing further, otherwise you'll get to see the wrath we are all capable of unleashing.
Not to worry though because you have been polite, kind, respectful, and happy to assimilate into Philippine society regardless of peoples' age and status. That is why Filipinos adore you, and are very much welcoming and supportive of you and your channel. Never have I been embarrassed of where I came from, I am infact proud of my roots. Cheers to All and be well.

Gimme a knife I’ll cut onions potatoes help in the kitchen AND cleanup. Love the kids too they’re so exuberant and lovely and precious! The respect thing-yeah-grew up with that so it’s ingrained in me. Manners are vitally important too, and I will REMIND you if you’re near me and not respectful-‘Mind your manners sir/mamm!’ Funny, I’ve been ‘poor’ all my life, but worked in 4 and 5 star resorts and thought this is what I would strive for, then my inner self said-nah maybe a night or two but I’d really rather be around and profit beings like me! Locals rule! Thank you and have you gone back or intend to? Rhetorical question lol. BLESSINGS OF LOVE N HEALTH N PEACE❤️🙏🏻🦩

Thank you Jonathan for saying so many good things about the Philippines and Filipinos. The beauty that you see is not always what we Filipinos see in ourselves. Some of our downsides are the way we complain, at times becoming sarcastic, and even pulling down others who have excelled in life out of spite and envy. However, you will know Filipinos when that person sees the humor in the most trivial or even horrific of situations, and that the way to establish a connection with someone is through food or music or both. More power to you, Jonathan, and the way you go around sharing your videos, our department of Tourism should take notice and even pay you for marketing our people, our country, and our identity. Salamat!
