The joy and happiness of the kids is what it's all about. You receive far more from giving a gift than receiving one. It's nice you got to spend Christmas with some warm inviting people, but remember there are others out there that don't have that and are alone. You don't know what someone else is going through in life and a simple gesture of your time could be all it takes to bring a little happiness to someone else. To some a coffee mug isn't an exciting gift, but to me it would be the greatest gift ever. If I'm awake the coffee pot is on, and that mug would get used and abused. 🤣 It also shows how much thought they put into the gift and made it personal, which makes it priceless.

Honestly, Filipino mindset during Christmas is that, no one should be alone in Christmas Eve or day. It's a time where everyone gathers together, either a family, friends, relatives, visitors or a stranger. During Christmas you can honestly hop-in into anyone's house to celebrate with them. They really don't mind at all. They're so willing to spare you a chair in their table and have much of food you wanted.... they'll be glad if you eat with them even though your stranger to them. And if they feel scared about your presence, they will not shuuuu you away, they still invite you to eat with them or bring foods in parcel for you to carry along your way.
