Just keep in mind that you’re only there for a few months + you’ll be back home for christmas and other breaks since your course is only 1 year and in the bigger picture it isn’t a long time at all x

Yara A I’ve literally taken a gap year as my anxiety just takes over and I cannot imagine having to throw myself into something new as much as I’d love to. It literally stops me doing things I’d love to do I hate it. So glad you went through with it though xx

I totally get you Molly, I literally just started my art course today. I was a nervous wreck, I didn’t sleep properly for weeks and I was in tears for hours everyday but today I finally had to face it, yeah the first time walking into the room was terrifying but as soon as I got in and spoke to the lecturer I felt such a huge sense of relief, I struggle with anxiety and have for years but I think the best way well for me anyway is to keep myself busy and spend time with people to take my mind off of it, you’re not in it alone and I’m sure myself and loads of other people totally understand what you’re going through but I was a nervous wreck but I came home today feeling relieved and happy. Plus I always look at it as in it’s not life or death, nothing huge will happen and if you don’t enjoy it and want to leave then it’s not the end of the world it just obviously wasn’t meant to be, it’s great to look at things in the way that everything happens for a reason when you’re feeling anxious, what happens will happen, just take everyday as it comes

I think RUclips glamorises the whole moving to uni thing and I'm glad you talked about the emotional change behind it. I experienced it going through my undergrad 3 years ago and experiencing it now as I move onto my masters. Thankfully my course allows me to live at home but I just hope I adapt to the course like you. I also hope myself and my partner will be ok as we will be long distance for the weeks we aren't together. Good luck and let us know how you get on. Thank you for keeping it real 💗

I started uni last year, and I was super nervous and anxious before hand, and I was nervous about not meeting people during freshers. Right from the start of freshers I told my flat about my anxiety issues, to let them know that there was no reason to worry if I didn't want to go out or drink alcohol etc. and they were all soo understanding, and some had experienced similar issues in the past as well- there was next to no stigma at all. You'll quickly find some of the best friends you'll ever have- and have some of the most incredible experiences together... Living on your own is haaaaard especially the whole cooking, cleaning, washing part of independence, however you'll find that when you go home you'll want to head back to uni- i always find my parents are on top of me when I'm home!! My art foundation year was my favourite year as well because it is a year where you get to find yourself and flourish as an individual! I cannot wait to watch your journey, of course there'll be down days when you'll miss home, but I guarantee that you'll love the late nights sat up chatting with your friends till the early hours, its like a never ending sleepover!! (We had riverdale nights on a thursday and they were incredibleeeeee, and so cosy with lots of blankets and hot chocolate etc. 100% recommend) You'll smash it Molly, I know you will!

I'm starting Uni in two weeks as well. I'm such a big worrier as well and am a very introverted person I relate to you that I'm also most excited to decorate my room. I've also had not much energy the whole summer and am not independent at all. I can totally relate to you as in all the Uni chats people come across excited but could be putting on a front. I have had struggles with making friends so hoping Uni gives me the chance to make 'friends for life'.It would be lovely to talk to you one on one :)

hi molly. i sat through everything you said & i just wanted to say: i moved out from home at 18 to go to paris alone, having little to no french & knowing no one. while i did come home (after 1.5 years) i did stick it out as much as i could but i think my downfall was not speaking about it. it was only once i opened up to my mum (over a year in) that she saw the depth of my anxiety & down-ness (lol that's not a word at all). i wish i had spoken about it earlier so i was just thinking how cool it is of you to open up this much like this. keep talking to your friends, bf & parents even after you go about how you feel & all the best. you will be in my prayers xxx

I never comment on You Tube videos, but I just wanted to say it is totally normal to be apprehensive about moving to uni. I'm from near you and I moved to Scotland for uni over 4 years ago now and I knew nobody, and I remember crying my eyes out the night before I went! I was so so nervous and I didn't want to leave because I was so worried about hating it and feeling alone. It's a massive challenge but you will grow so much as a person and overcome everything one step at a time. Dropping out, if that's what you choose to do at any point, has absolutely no shame and sometimes admitting it's not for you is braver than staying there! But honestly, I think you will love it. X

I was so nervous to go to uni, but as soon as I got there I felt absolutely fine. Remember everyone there is in the same boat as you, and everyone understands, even the lecturers. There are so many things in place to help you at uni if anything was to go wrong (which is so unlikely) and everyone is super supportive. You will honestly have the best time- distract yourself with unpacking, talking to your flat mates and doing freshers events- freshers fair, nights out... there are so many things to do! And the first few weeks of uni are so chilled, it’s all to get you used to it! I hope this helps, i felt this way and did this all 2 years ago with severe anxiety/depression and a psycho ex following me around! X

I felt the exact same before moving to uni last year and I just want to say that the change doesn’t have to be so huge in your mind. Before I went, I was freaking out over the thought that I was ‘permanently moving out’, that things would never be the same at home anymore, that I was coming to the ‘end’ of life as I knew it, and that was terrifying for me. But I actually realised that coming home every 2 weeks and spending reading week at home helped massively and made me feel like the change wasn’t so permanent and that things weren’t so different. I remember you saying you’re planning on coming home quite often and it really does help. It also makes Christmas seem to come sooner, and then you get a whole month at home! I know you don’t want to spend your whole time at uni waiting for the weekend you go home, you want to enjoy it while you’re there - and you can and will! It’s a big change but it’s not the end of life as you know it. And if you feel it’s not right then don’t feel any shame about dropping out. It happens to lots of people, just not many of them talk about it. Follow your instincts!

No word of a lie, I started uni last year and I was so so anxious about it for weeks before I started! I was waking up each day feeling sick and dreading my new chapter. But honestly, as soon as you start and throw yourself into it you will immediately feel better as you meet people in your exact same position and maybe even more nervous than yourself! If it’s meant to be you will feel it as you begin. You’re superstar Molly- GO AND DO YOUR THAAAANG!

I'm exactly the same as you with over worrying about EVERYTHING (particularly health also as I'm very very emetophobic) and I've recently had therapy as I too was punishing myself for feeling down/anxious about things and the most helpful thing I learnt is that it's okay, it's hard enough to feel down to that extent without punishing yourself for feeling that way. Sometimes as hard as it is you have to embrace how you feel and just let it come along for the ride and soon enough it will hopefully start to lessen and fingers crossed you will be able to live life being able to manage these feelings rather than battling with them and putting all your energy into fighting them. I know its so much harder to do than to say as I'm exactly the same as you in that respect but I really hope you get to a place where you are able to worry less and enjoy more, but it's completely okay to feel how you are feeling❤️

Molly I’m so proud of you 🖤 I completely understand how you feel. I start college in two weeks and I’m petrified. All throughout secondary school I had no friends, people were horrible to me and I was so lonely. I have diagnosed social anxiety and clinical depression because of how badly school affected me. The thought of starting a new place with new people is making me ill from worry 😩 I honestly admire you for speaking up about this. You’re so brave and you have all of us here for you whenever you need. Thank you so much for everything you do, I love you 🖤

i was in your position this time last year molly, yeah i was excited to move to uni but i was absolutely terrified!! It’s totally normal to be worried, this is probably the most life changing experience you have had so far. But i can assure you it’s all gonna be totally okay! Last year i was so close to not going to university because the thought terrified me so much, but looking back now i had no reason to be worried at all. First year was probably the best year of my life so far and i really hope the same happens for you! Just go into the experience with an open mind and get involved as much as you can, get to know all different types of people and make sure your experience is everything you want it to be, because you’ll remember these days for the rest of your life! Speaking about your own thoughts will really help other people who are in the same position as you right now, so thank you for doing this! And keep us updated with your uni experience, i’d love to hear it xxx

I have had to deal with intense almost constant anxiety since year 9 (I'm off to uni in September), and the run-up to uni has been the worst and depression mixes in as well, it's such a giant change that it's like I'm unwilling to accept it's actually happening. Home is my safety net, it's everything, I'm never away from my parents and sister. I feel sick overthinking, can't eat, can't function. It's made derealisation absolutely atrocious. You'll definitely make friends. Anxiety can easily convince you that you'll be alone but you won't. You're a lovely girl, genuinely. Home is only an hour away like it is for me too, you'll have so much support, can still see your mates in your hometown, a lot of people are in the same boat. Maybe write down the good things about uni- achieving your dream degree, being more independent, reasons why you like that uni, everything you've gone through to get to this point, because it's easy to completely forget these things or be unable to even think of one thing why doing this massive jump and suffering all this anxiety is even worth it. But it will be. I worry I won't like my degree, too. It's a leap into the unknown. But think how you will feel after Fresher's Week, then a month in, then before you know it, it will be the Christmas holidays and you'll be going home and you'll have made these life-long friends and wonder what you were even worrying for. I totally understand you and I am so glad you have made this video because a lot of RUclipsrs come across as excited. I'm not excited, all I feel is dread right now because the negativity in my head just blocks out the positives. But I totally believe in you and that you will be happy and I hope that your anxiety subsides as you settle in :)

I can completely relate. I moved to uni when I had a long term boyfriend too, only I moved 9 hours from home. I knew no one and moved into a flat full of strangers. And hand on heart I can say you will be fine. You don't have to have anxiety to feel anxious, and you don't need to be depressed to feel down! It's completely normal to feel scared about leaving home. But it will be so amazing for you, I was forced to grow and change as a person. Living on my own gave me more confidence in every aspect of my life. What is meant to be won't go past you. If you don't like it then theres no shame in going home. Its better to try than not a regret it! I can't wait to see your videos at uni of you having a blast at uni! Lots of love xo

This is exactly how I felt two years ago but it's honestly going to be fine, you have to remember that everyone is only posting like there "best times" at uni and how excited they are on social, no one is showing when they're homesick or feeling alone. So don't feel guilty if you feel like you're not having "the time of your life" at uni. Everyone gets homesick and feels upset at some point. You just have to really put yourself out there when you get to your flat and try and talk to as many people as possible, then I'm sure you'll find your feet. Hope that helps x

Ive tried not to think about uni up until now and suddenly it's very real - I'm so excited to go but a new city and new people is never good for anxiety. Im feeling comforted in the fact that every single person is probably feeling the same about such a massive change - even the most confident of person. This just means everyone will be in the same boat and support each other 💜 after freshers week we'll probably wonder what you even worried about in the first place x I'm proud of you Molly for pushing yourself off at the deep end. Whatever happens you can be proud that you gave it a try and did what was best for you.

heyyy! I'm only in year 11 so my last year in school so you probably think I won't really know what you're going through but you have so many people who will support, never feel alone because you have your family, boyfriend, amazing friends and us we're constantly thinking of you and we always have your back❤️obviously moving out on your own with people you don't know is scary I can imagine i would be terrified if I were you but you're going to make so many friends and people will love you, you will fit in because you're absolutely lovely and so thoughtful that why wouldn't people. before you know it you'll be back home and when you are home you'll probably miss it so just try and think of the positive things, I know it's easier said than done but just try and think the positive in a very negative person too so I find it a struggle to think of the positive side of things but honesty there is a positive side to everything ❤️❤️I love you and stay strong we're always here ❤️❤️❤️❤️

moving to university is such a massive upheaval but i promise you that how you're feeling will improve and you will meet your crowd. thank you for being honest. please remember that there are always options whether you drop out or stay there - i'm glad to hear you say that you know you're ready to go, you can do it. keep smiling xx i have serious hyper anxiety yet university isn't something i'm worried about, my anxiety is personally triggered by an upsetting event so if something horrible were to happen at uni, i would be incredibly anxious but as of yet i'm feeling okay. it isn't wrong until things are made wrong by something! stay positive :)

  • @zodiacmermaids

I'm a year older than you and watching this just brought back all of my thoughts and emotions from this time last year! During the two weeks running up to moving in I experienced really intense anxiety to the point where I couldn't be left alone at home for long periods of time without talking my feelings out with my parents. I thought I was used to feeling anxious as I have been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder that started when I was about 11 years old, but this was just the highest levels of anxiety I had ever known! So I think it's amazing that you've shared your feelings and posted this (I would have benefited from hearing this kind of honesty last year!), because so many people will try to come across as being so excited to move, which was the case with my friends a year ago and it made me feel 1000x worse! So thank you for being so genuine- there are two ways that your experience could go, and both of them I see as good things. You either get to uni and absolutely love it and your worries go away, or you find it difficult for a time and come home, as you mentioned (which no one is going to judge you for!). There is always a solution to make things better :-) Good luck lovely on this step to something great :-) X (also, apologies for the ridiculously long comment!)

Girl I feel you omg. I’m moving six hours from my hometown to university tomorrow and I’m absolutely crapping myself!! For several weeks I didn’t pay much attention to it but as you say it is difficult to avoid it when it’s right in front of you!! The message you put across is honestly amazing it really did give me some reassurance coz I kept thinking every other teenager is like so ready and excited for uni and they don’t over worry and over think about it!! But it’s honestly such a great feeling to know I’m not alone!! I am really not one for change I can’t cope with it very well I do often get panic attacks it’s inevitable which is so annoying!! Part of me knows I’m going to have attacks but part of me is hoping that because I’m starting a course that I have been wanting to do for several years that might make it a bit more bearable and I just slide into a routine really quickly!! And the amount of times I’ve thought about how the panicking and overthinking will effect future milestones! But yeah one of the things I’m also dreading I don’t want to drop out I’m so worried I’ll find out it’s not for me but fingers crossed it really is my place!! I’m new to watching ur videos but I’ve loved watching them!! Good luck girl! Thank you for making this video coz I can relate SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!

It is tough! I was so ready to leave home and when I finally did I was so unbelievably homesick and suffered in silence for months before opening up about it. When I did I realised how many people felt similarly and it was such a comfort! Like you say, follow your heart, if somethings not right don't be afraid to act on it but try to relax and enjoy it! Sticking it out was the hardest thing I ever did but I am SO happy right now and I gutted I'm in my final year! Can't wait to follow your journey and please don't be afraid to share the lows! It will definitely help people x

I'm moving to uni in a couple weeks as well and I'm bricking it. I think the main scare for me is that it's 5 hours away from home and I realised that all my friends are going to uni really locally and in the complete opposite direction to me. But I'm also excited for the change. Being in a group chat with my flatmates (who seem super lovely) has definitely been a saving grace xx

Just want to say that it’s okay to go through this, just process it and let yourself go through this! I felt exactly the same starting uni, and it went away with time, but now I’m starting a masters and going through it all again, it’s just the uncertainty of it all! I’m sure once you start you’ll be fine, but equally if not, there is nothing wrong with admitting that uni just isn’t for you! Sending lots of positive vibes your way! X

I’m so glad you’ve made this video. I’m feeling the exact same about uni, I’m off to Leeds too! Underneath I’m so so excited but whenever I have to think about it or sort things it becomes very real and I panic. I’ve found the unknown parts the scariest but I’ve joined group chats and found some people in my flat and that’s made me so much more chill for meeting them. Sending hugs xxx

Big relates to this, I kinda threw myself into 3 years of university at 18 and it’s a super nerve wracking experience! Just try to think there is literally no one making you do something you don’t want to do + you won’t have failed in any way if you find it just isn’t your thing! Just take it day by day and with any luck you’ll meet some people there who will make all of your worries SO worth it xxx

Ive always felt so insecure to talk about that myself so thankyou for being honest and sharing something that not alot of people can understand and uve always felt a but self conscious to talk about xx

We are all with you on this journey, if it ever gets too much then please please please put yourself first. If you want a few days off when you start uni or whenever I would understand and so should everyone else because it's better having a break than feeling lonely a few months after you start! I feel the exact same way and really relate to everything you've said, although I'm excited because I've wanted to be independent for such a long time, I'm also super nervous because I'm moving from London to Sheffield and so I'll be 4 hours away from everything I know and my family, I'm also an over thinker and constantly thinking of the worst possible scenarios especially because I didn't enjoy sixth form and that's made me really anxious about finding friends at university who like me for me. I'm glad you've talked about how you're feeling and I hope that once you get to uni these negatives will disappear and you'll have the time of your life! ❤️

When I was watching, I was thinking, I’m very like you with the worrying and overthinking etc. It troubles me everyday, some days are easier than others. When it’s your first night away, your in a unfamiliar destination with people you don’t know, it might feel scary but trust me, once you start your course and start getting into routine. You will love it and then think, why was I so worried. I felt the exact same before going to uni and now I have recently just finished my 3 year degree! listening to your feelings and reading the comments on this is so comforting to me; i’m moving in less than two weeks to a uni that’s nearly three hours away from home and it’s really starting to hit me now, in a good way but also in a bad way. i’m in a lot of chats too and most of the prominent conversations are on parties and events and wristbands etc and that’s just not what i’m into at all - the idea terrifies me. but aside from that lots of other people have come forward in those chats who are also like me. i’m kind of learning to just wait until i meet people in person to find that it’s not all going to be that bad. i’m trying not to read too much into what’s being said in chats and things because that’s mainly going to be consistent of the extroverted people. i think it’s just better to try not to saturate yourself too much before actually going. like your were saying, it’s all the overthinking on something that you don’t have control of. i really hope your move in goes well and you feel comfortable and happy with it all once settled in; just remember there’s lots of us worrying, we just need to ride it through and it will be okay, we’re just thinking on nerves right now 🧡

I know exactly how you're feeling in terms of moving away to uni. It's a terrifying change and naturally you're going to feel all these different emotions. But just remember that everyone in your course and accommodation is in the exact same boat. These people are probably thinking your thoughts and dealing with the same emotions that you're currently dealing with. The only way to make friends in uni is to fake it until you make it. When it comes to making friends you have to put yourself out there, you have to make small talk with everyone. You might think that people will find you weird for randomly talking to them but trust me they're gonna be so happy you made the first move. On your first day talk to as many people as you can about literally anything. The people you talk to on your first day are like a safety net, they become a friendly face around campus who you can say hello to everytime you see them and might even develop into a friendship. When it comes to your course, if you really don't like it, don't do it. Thats why you're in uni in the first place so theres no point in staying if you're unhappy. Mental health first always. Good luck x

Best of luck with this Molly, change is always scary but I'm sure you'll be in your element at Uni and you're never too far away from home if you need that time to come back and chill. I went to Uni as an anxious introvert and I commuted from home so had so many worries about making friends and my course, but it all turned out fine. I'm sure everything will be absolutely fine for you too, you've got this. WD for 91k also x

Molly, I watched this video a few hours ago and I've just come back to leave a quick message to say thank you for talking openly about this and uploading it, hardly any people our age speak about these things. I have been immensely struggling with my mental health for years, and this video gave me the final push to tell my mum and make a doctors appointment, so genuinely, thank you. Anxiety can be detrimental and I really hope uni goes so well for you, and that anxiety doesn't affect anything you do there. Best of luck for uni and I'll be watching all the uni videos!! I've been here since you did your GCSE's and you're one of the very few youtubers I watch all the videos of, can't wait to see what you do next!

Everyone feels like that and it is horrible and it’s good that you’ve spoke about it on your channel, it’s not easy and no matter what happens it doesn’t change you. If you go to uni and love it that’s amazing but even if you go and want to come back home that’s okay too. It will be a life lesson and at the end of the day everything happens for a reason. It Does not mean you’re a failure. I dropped out of year 11 everyone thought I was a massive failure but now 6 months later, everything is back on track again and I’m going college. Everyone has their own path.

This was so reassuring to watch, I'm going to uni in a few weeks too and whilst everyone around me seems to be so excited I can't help but feel absolutely terrified 😬 it's so hard to feel as though you aren't alone as well when everyone ignores those negative feelings and concentrates on the excitement so it's great that you've made this! But honestly, it would almost be strange to not feel worried as we are going to do something that is so much bigger than anything that we've done before with so much independence, but millions of people have gotten through it before and the vast majority have had amazing experiences! And if it doesn't go to plan (which I'm sure won't happen) there are options like you said! We can ALL be here for each other ❤️❤️
