    Absolutely love this video. We are doing the same thing on our fireplace wall. We only have room for one Billy bookcase on each side. We frameed them in. Then we built a new wall above the fireplace that is even with the bookcases. I did a vertical ship lap on that new wall where the TV will go. Everything is done except for painting and a few trim pieces. I loved what you did!

    My daughter wanted to do the same - we needed the expertise from an structural engineer - and then it needed a lot of time to fix it - because the wall is from concrete wall.

    Wow! Beautiful! I have a question about the cords and how you access them to change out the TV. Do you need to remove the fireplace? I couldn't figure out how you reached in there to plug in the fireplace and tv 😁

    • @KelseyRomitoDIY
      @KelseyRomitoDIY  2 года назад +2

      I really wish I would have included this in the video. I left a hole behind the tv and shiplap. I also cut holes in the side of the cabinets that touched the shiplap. I had wall outlets behind the cabinets that I accessed by cutting additional holes in the back of the cabinets. So the tv cord goes behind the shiplap. It runs down then comes out of the side and plugs in a wall outlet behind the cabinet doors. So you never see any wires. Hope this makes sense.

    Looks great!
    The problem I have in general with TV’s mounted over fireplaces is that they’re always positioned too high, which makes for an uncomfortable viewing angle.

      Thanks! Yeah I know what you mean. I made sure to check the height was ok with my husband since he’s the one who uses the tv the most.

    We could not do that whole door think cause our walls are made from brick but this video has definitely inspired me to get a fixer upper like I always wanted
