actually i tried this save you could survive if and only if you just place all your army in hellsinki and hold until the germans arrive then the soviet lines will weaken and you can easily beat the with micro but dont push immediatly instead just wait and build more units then when you have enough focus ion incirclments

Artillery only finland is possible for finland bc they get a national spirit that gives support companies hp and org, hence why he used so many. Wouldn't be possible w/o support companies.

I did artillery only challenge 2 years ago. But my template(Motorized artillery and self-propelled artillery, fast mofos with ton of soft and hard atk) could shatter heavy tanks, and i played Poland back then. It was fun... no, i don't want to do that again.

But you saving it at the end was truly beautiful.
I am also some times playing artillery only but instead of divisions with only artillery, adding some infantry to give 30 org like tank divisions but instead of tank you add a artillery I used and it does a lot of damage. This divisions used play as democratic Germany because I'm to lazy to build medium tanks and military industry also because I like build civilian factories. And some times I'm using creativity, such as I'm explained.

You could have gotten away with leaving the north empty and first cleaning the coast and after, sending them back to the north, but that's just hindsight
You should do a challenge where you and another person take turns playing a country and swap every 6 months to a year. The catch is you can’t communicate at all so it is chaos

Winning barb strictly depends on when you choose to launch it - a '43 barb will play very differently to a '41 barb. Its to Germany's advantage if they launch later, since you outclass the Soviets industrially (especially if you win the war with the allies before the Americans join in, even better if you kill America before they get their economy running in '41) Germany is very versatile like that, since the Soviets won't usually manually justify on you until 1945, and by that point most of your inf is mechanized and you can just battleplan it.
Otherwise, just concentrate your tanks and micro the front up to the Panther-Woltan line. Hold it with your inf, while you push with your tanks to one of Leningrad, Stalingrad or Moscow. Personally, I prefer a southern thust since Ukraine up to the Volga is trivially easy to push in. Then just snake down to Astrakhan and clean up the Caucuses. Do this in autumn/winter, since the front up north will freeze to death. In spring and summer, push north towards Moscow from your position in Stalingrad. Sever as many rail lines as you can (it'll ruin the Soviet river line). Also push Leningrad during this time with your inf. Encircle it, and grind/destroy to your heart's desire. If you've got your colabs up, the Soviets should pop, else you'll need to do the painful push over the Urals.
The Soviets should be very weak by this point, so you are safe to remove most of your army back to Europe, just keep 1-2 defensive units per tile. You should be able to break the Soviet lines with just your infantry at this point, so rush down their supply hubs and VPs. Don't push in the far north once you've captured Arkhangelsk, its not worth it. Perm and Kazan are your main targets. This part will be very slow since supply will be an issue regardless. If you're daring, take some motorized and send them to Kazakhstan, since you can go around the Urals easily there. Rush down Sverdlovsk, and you'll probably cap them at this point. If not, just go for the other VPs nearby. Thankfully, there's no circumstance where you'll have to march across Siberia to Vladivostok
