Paradox needs to really get the AI de-prioritize these tiny sub countries in peace deals, they're so messy and pointless in the final peace deal
That's something covered in the upcoming DLC "By Blood Alone".
My mate and I just use the mod, ‘Player Led Peace Deals’. It allows one to take all land regardless of one so chooses, but we always choose to be fair and allocate territory per AI contribution.

I'm more impressed he can hold Germany from the lowlands but not Italy from the mountains
It looks like the original player was not very experienced, he probably forgot to build a supply hub in savoy leading to terrible supplies in the alps and an easy push opportunity for the axis

Well, at least he remembered Africa. Can't say that about the AI usually, although the AI tends to be just as competent.
@@jevinliu4658 I've never seen the AI not put divisions anywhere there's a border. Where they typically fail is defending their ports.
@@tremedari remember giving the ai germany more mills for a challenge (playing as UK) and the Atlantic wall was definitely fortified as hell.

Did it not? It was meant to keep out hostile forces from Germany, it did that...they just came in from Italy.

6:46 I know you want to have more supplies but your men were one tile away from a undefended port and made me mad
at first i was thinking the same but even if he took that port the axis troops would still get some pretty good supply because there was another port a couple of tiles away but by retreating to tripoli he made it so that the axis troops dont get supply
@@alandalusinquisition2166 also made them send more people down south, even if its just 8 divisions, it's good enough.
The african ground is a great place to trap those guys

My favorite of these videos is the start where you plan your strategy. Once you've got the plan I feel it's just over. HOI4 AI is powerless against a player with a good game plan

Defending whole France is not so hard... You just need to reform industry, take Maginot extension focus, build 10 fort at Sedan and Dunkirk, and max fighters...and concentrate all your troops on the mainland.

Italy even took Egypt, which it actually does a lot for some odd reason, one time I was playing as Germany and Italy had steamrolled Africa all the way down to the Cape, but they failed in Algeria meaning that it was completely useless anyways

After watching this I am fully convinced that you would have done a better job holding France than Blum did.
I mean. Blum wasn't in charge then. In 1940, you're looking at Paul Reynaud, with Gamelin as commander.
Now, I'm sure he'd do a better job than Gamelin - but then again, it's hard to do a worse job than Gamelin.

Head ups for anyone checking out the Mobile Game Bitt3rSteel showed; it's VERY similar to Company of Heroes (but on Mobile). If you're a fan of the game series, I HIGHLY recommend the game.
I personally always go for Organization First, since various doctrines help with recovery but only one doctrine tech box helps with reinforce rate; and reinforce rate matters!!!

Say whatever you want about the maginot line, this definitely saved Germany from very angry and motivated italians.
6:58 the supply hub in Benghazi was wide open so you could have taken that and just held there as well to worsen the axis supply

I only managed to survive with a full democratic France ONCE. I even was technologically and industrially superior to all of the allies combined but somehow Spain was still almost impossible to take down

D-Day 1942. Only 2 years early.
I would not want to be in the planning room when the wehrmacht had to explain to Hitler how they were not only unable to capture all of France despite the majority of the country being captured, but that Italy also allowed the French to naval invade behind them and encircle all of the German troops in France.
