You can que up divisions before you lose land so you have a stockpile of manpower in training divisions and when you need it you can delete the training divisions
The first time I managed it was actually in By Blood Alone. Held on and held on but got to about 200k shy when I finally got beaten. But as a government in exile with high legitimacy, I managed to get my army to Denmark, kill a few more, but before I got wiped out, I pulled out to Norway with like my last 6 divisions. Germany finally got ontop, but I set a ring around Oslo and killed the final 100k there to get the achievement.
Slawek, Churchill, and de Gaulle agree to a conference in, say, London. Churchill and de Gaulle are early. Some minutes later, they hear large footsteps and feel the ground trembling. Slawek knocks open the door half a minute later with his cane he needs so his pure steel balls dont pull him down and, seeing Churchill and de Gaulle cowering in a corner, he says "Smells like bitch in here". He spends 3 hours of the conference listing the newest victories of Poland and then asks the two others what progress theyve made. Churchill and de Gaulle look at each other. Realising that they havent made any advances, Slawek gets up and leaves.
once i was playing Austria against Germany and Italy, and then cuz I joined the Allies and the Czechs were in it, I got the same frontline glitch too and then capped, but keeping my 36 divisions in Slovakia. i feel the pain too.
Tbh the easiest method to this achievment is to just capitulate (yes you can) and then on other fronts cause 1.8mln casualities. Its very easy that way

Tip: if you end up having to choose between being pushed out of any tiles, always hold on to the cities. You can survive with just the cities, and if you lose the northern two tiles, you can use Czechoslovakia as an alternate cycling base
This was awesome! Just attempted it and managed to complete it on my third try. I eventually just slapped the 48 divisions on full frontlines and placed the remaining 16 across three sections that seem to get completely bombarded much more than others. I found for the most part, letting the computer manage the frontlines was pretty sufficient almost the entire way. Aside from that, I didn't do anything differently aside from making the mistake of using the other field marshal. The other one gets kicked out when you go Left so... I wasted all that xp... haha. Would've certainly made me succeed sooner. I do feel like I was bombarded a bit more hardcore than you in my playthrough, I was drained of manpower even with Scraping the Barrel (and trust me... I never take that unless it's desperate) -- I figured the lack of manpower would force me to capitulate moreso than the lack of guns. Seemed to work but I do wonder if I made the right choice. Maybe having the extra factory output would've helped with defense with my guns. We may never know...
I would love to see if you can still do the Siberian Tiger achievement with the By blood alone DLC due to the changes in the Peace conferences, I have attempted it but it seems that getting china is no longer possible as the Soviets will take the land now. I feel it would be a good challenge and I have yet to see an updated tutorial for it. Good luck.
Idk if I got lucky but I got it first try yesterday. I just spammed 2 width cavs and waited until the soviets did their civil war on ahistorical (with Trotsky), I managed to get most of the provinces in the peace deal and ran down the missing ones while the new ussr was getting divs to siberia.
I did it in what I imagine is the "legit" way? Built up on a few tiles, declared war on the Soviets after Germany declared... And I just held, pushed from time to time. Just racked up the war contribution until I had enough to claim the territories needed to form Siberia. Wasn't nearly as difficult as I expected. Doesn't take long to rack up enough warscore for that either. Those territories are super cheap and you only need like.. eight of them?

Two things I did that made the initial stage way easier was waiting until prepare for the inevitable to be at 25 days and then I clicked desperate defense, but I also promoted the commando guy to a field Marshall and gave him camouflage expert which makes the initial holding really easy
You can easily just hold in Warsaw and a few seperate provinces- honestly not that hard to get the achievement. Eventually ended my game after I tallied up seven million German casualties after the Allies lost Africa for the second time and the Soviets died. Probably should've kept historical focuses on, lesson learned, since without it, the AI just sucks even more against the Axis.
You didnt need to give up Wilno. It was placed between Belarus and Lithuania with no border to Germany. You would be further from the brink. Also, you could have put a bunch of men into training to save a bunch of manpower.

So just a tip, at the beginning of the game, if you que up 1 fort in the tile north of Katowice, 2 forts in the forest tile north of Krakow, and 1 fort in Krakow, and 1 in Katowice (in that order) you have just enough time to get 3 (4 if you're really lucky) built before the Germans start attacking (as long as you scorched earth everything). When you unpause, also make sure to hit the strategic redeployment order so your units get to your fallback lines ASAP and get those few days of extra entrenchment (don't worry their organization fully recovers before the war starts). Also pick up the scavenger trait if you can, it makes a big difference early on to get that bit of enemy equipment. Hold off hitting the desperate defense decision for a month or so if you can, it helps tide you over until prepare for the inevitable is completed.
I was wondering why you consider the fieldmarshal order with garrisons cheating? All it does is stop your units from moving like idiots and it's not like you're using it to get around the unit cap for generals. Also is there actually a need to give away the Lithuanian territory? There isn't a land connection after creating belarus and i don't think the germans ever use their one paratrooper

when I did it I did the warsaw strategy still which I think still works fine, the German AI is a bit smarter and doesn't fall for the encirclements as often but you do get to keep way more industry around.
Side note for people with the latest version: the extra land for Belarus does not matter, in the newest update, despite the extra land lose too belarus, you will be at 98% towards capitulation instead of 99%
This reminds me of the old way of playing Ehiopia, just defend 2 or 3 provinces and survive until you got elite trops and high level generals to counter atack
a small thing i noticed usingthis strat: at the start, if you queue up divisions and then release belarus and ukraine, you get to keep a good amount of the manpower from there. if you queue up divisiosn while the germans are taking territory, you get to keep some of the manpower from the land you give up as well.
Hey Bitt3rSteel, i have a chalenge for you. you need to start whit polland and relise the rupublic of ukraine and play as ukraine. when that done you have to conquer all the land of modern day ukraine. p.s. you have to fitgh the soviet union to gain the land and you cant go communist . good luck.
i have no idea why but german just never gave me a rest. They keep attack me since the start of the war that the longest battle i encounter last for 436 days. They even delay defeating France that France surrender at aug of 1940 just to attack me. I have no time to entrench or resupply. So i took relatively way more casaulties and run out of manpower b4 i can get those 9.6k people from the focus.....
Just got the achievement in the 1st attempt, thanks Bitt3rSteel! I've tried it before using "horseshoe" tactic, but next to Warsaw (I think Feedback did video about it), but failed few times and gave up. But I did few mistakes, so I barley survived and had red bubbles between 15-30 till late 1940. I think I didn't rotate divisions enough in the early game, so I had huge casualties and constant lack of equipment. So if someone is gonna try it, make sure you move your units manually
The strategy I used to get the achievement in a prior version was start in 1939 and cause a fascist civil war and after take over the USSR then after declaring on Germany. This probably doesn't work anymore I'm guessing.
I think one useful strat is just before Germany invades, start training as many units as possible. When they make it to the horseshoe, cancel them all. This takes a pool of manpower from your entire country and adds it to your new pool in the horseshoe
And then there is me in 2024. same strategy, played until 1949. soviets gor crushed by germany in 1944, d-day never happenex, and I‘m still in the initial position. Have lost 1m defensing, but the germans have only lost 900k (so no achievment this playthrough)
Thanks for this achievement guide, really helped me. Though J did find in my first attempt I pushed out way too early and that ended my run. You do get really low on guns again but this can be solved with I think army in exile
Weird challenge idea: stop producing anything but air after the war begins and rely entirely on captured equipment (or lend lease). I recommend using the Asymmetric Warfare doctrine from rt56 because it early on gives scout companies massive bonuses to equipment capture.
Great guide i had it up to 1 million dead germans when out of no where "london has Fallen" poped up and 2 min later the allies where dead and since i joined the faction i died aswell :C
Good thing he didn't attempt this challenge now, after the update to special forces Germany would quickly overrun him due to the one paratroopers doctrine path selection that lowers org when a paradrop trooper lands (if the ai is even capable of doing so, of course...)

How did you get so many auto completed focusses and extra army XP at the start? i start with 5 army xp and no auto completed focusses, making this really hard (all dlc installed) And when i do this i usually die with about 700k casualties in November 1940, since they germans dont give me a break like they do for you. And in the end will take 1 of the upper provinces.

Maybe bank manpower up by training units so manpower no longer issue? Perhaps also regain control of Poland (as much as possible) and grab manpower whenever you can? Idk if its a good strategy but I see feedback gaming doing it
You start out with some focuses pre done since it is the 1939 start… my game doesn’t do that. Any idea why ? I have no focuses done. I also have never been able to do anything with the peasant strikes or to communist In other runs . Idk if I have a bugged game or I’m just missing soemthing
Well I managed to get the achievement and not once during the 2 in-game years I played before getting the achievement did Germany or their allies stop attacking me. It was absolutely horrible and I had zero breathing room the entire time. Thank you for the guide because I feel like I would have gone mostly insane if not inspired to actual completion.

Tried to follow this guide and found that zoalzie can do the same job as that center tile while also allowing for a slightly smaller defensive line.
It's ZAOLZIE and it's spelled like "Zaohlzhie" by that "zh" i meant that sound from French that showed on writing like "j".

If you start in 1936, you can hold the soviets back with 24 divisions if you fall back to Lviv and Bresk Litovsk.
You can also use desperate defense decision until you get prepare for the inevitable

Ive tried this challenge like 4 times now and the closest i got before capping is about 1mil casualties
Hey Bitt3rSteel, i have a chalenge for you. you need to start whit polland and relise the rupublic of ukraine and play as ukraine. when that done you have to conquer all the land of modern day ukraine. p.s. you have to fitgh the soviet union to gain the land and you cant go communist . good luck.

i have no idea why but german just never gave me a rest. They keep attack me since the start of the war that the longest battle i encounter last for 436 days. They even delay defeating France that France surrender at aug of 1940 just to attack me. I have no time to entrench or resupply. So i took relatively way more casaulties and run out of manpower b4 i can get those 9.6k people from the focus.....

Just got the achievement in the 1st attempt, thanks Bitt3rSteel!
I've tried it before using "horseshoe" tactic, but next to Warsaw (I think Feedback did video about it), but failed few times and gave up.
But I did few mistakes, so I barley survived and had red bubbles between 15-30 till late 1940. I think I didn't rotate divisions enough in the early game, so I had huge casualties and constant lack of equipment.
So if someone is gonna try it, make sure you move your units manually

Not sure if it still works. Played essentially the exact way and only made it to 1941 on full consription and lost all MP.
You should try again the bad romances achievement since bba change a lot of mechanics
The strategy I used to get the achievement in a prior version was start in 1939 and cause a fascist civil war and after take over the USSR then after declaring on Germany. This probably doesn't work anymore I'm guessing.

I think one useful strat is just before Germany invades, start training as many units as possible. When they make it to the horseshoe, cancel them all. This takes a pool of manpower from your entire country and adds it to your new pool in the horseshoe
And then there is me in 2024. same strategy, played until 1949. soviets gor crushed by germany in 1944, d-day never happenex, and I‘m still in the initial position.
Have lost 1m defensing, but the germans have only lost 900k (so no achievment this playthrough)
Thanks for this achievement guide, really helped me. Though J did find in my first attempt I pushed out way too early and that ended my run. You do get really low on guns again but this can be solved with I think army in exile

Weird challenge idea: stop producing anything but air after the war begins and rely entirely on captured equipment (or lend lease). I recommend using the Asymmetric Warfare doctrine from rt56 because it early on gives scout companies massive bonuses to equipment capture.

Great guide i had it up to 1 million dead germans when out of no where "london has Fallen" poped up and 2 min later the allies where dead and since i joined the faction i died aswell :C

Good thing he didn't attempt this challenge now, after the update to special forces Germany would quickly overrun him due to the one paratroopers doctrine path selection that lowers org when a paradrop trooper lands (if the ai is even capable of doing so, of course...)

How did you get so many auto completed focusses and extra army XP at the start? i start with 5 army xp and no auto completed focusses, making this really hard (all dlc installed) And when i do this i usually die with about 700k casualties in November 1940, since they germans dont give me a break like they do for you. And in the end will take 1 of the upper provinces.
I had the complete wrong idea on why you released those nations. I thought you were making a wall between Russia and yourself to make it so you only faced the Germans
Maybe bank manpower up by training units so manpower no longer issue? Perhaps also regain control of Poland (as much as possible) and grab manpower whenever you can? Idk if its a good strategy but I see feedback gaming doing it

You start out with some focuses pre done since it is the 1939 start… my game doesn’t do that. Any idea why ? I have no focuses done. I also have never been able to do anything with the peasant strikes or to communist In other runs . Idk if I have a bugged game or I’m just missing soemthing

Well I managed to get the achievement and not once during the 2 in-game years I played before getting the achievement did Germany or their allies stop attacking me. It was absolutely horrible and I had zero breathing room the entire time. Thank you for the guide because I feel like I would have gone mostly insane if not inspired to actual completion.
It can be hit and miss. Like i said, I got lucky that germany spread itself thin for a bit, allowing me room to breathe and entrench
