hi, dev here, there's actually a lot of content post-war so it is definitely worth sticking around! You will eventually be able to renounce the truce, lose post war economy and from then on you can kind of have a sandbox game, but there is a lot of other stuff you could do such as intervening in the inevitable British/French Civil Wars (I'm the UK dev so I put a lot of love into the British Revolution haha, they even load 2 new focus trees), there can also be diplomatic crises over for example the Suez Canal, Africa and India so I can definitely say we have very much put stuff in to make it worth playing post-war
When are the diplomatic crises happening? Are they only for the 1910 scenario or both, I have recently played historical US in the 1914 scenario up until 1936 and I have played Germany(Kaiserreich post war path) in 1914 several times too but in both there weren't diplomatic crises

How to get Conrad-von-Hötzendorf path: Get to army question crisis - Choose abdication of Franz Joseph I in favor of Ferdinand and make sure he doesnt die - Pick the focus towards trialism but DO NOT DESTROY HUNGARIAN OPPOSITON - Every time they protest practicly ignore and supress them - When Hungary decleres intendepence event should pop up if Hötzendorf should assume power accept - MAKE SURE YOU WIN THE CIVILWAR - After that you get event if Hötzendorf should stay in power - Now you can play as a military state under Hötzendorf. For the Navy in the Great War Redux mod I would suggest going with a torpedo heavy fleet. Get torpedoes on everything you can. Even the pre-dreadnoughts can be re-fitted to have them. I've played several games as the major powers, including an Italy game where I joined the central powers. Britain has something like 54 battleships at the start and they are no joke. The fleet I crafted was new built destroyers (mostly 1910 type with a few 1916 models in there a bit early) with all the cruisers and battleships refit. It absolutely massacred them. You still take losses and damage. But it's effective. Also, I hate to say it, but submarines are so ridiculously good in this mod it would be dumb not to build any. There's no planes to take them out, and nothing has depth charges to attack them at the start. Subs are by far and away the most cost effective thing to produce. The Ai will build stuff that can take them out later, but it's just not enough. I've found it doesn't seem worth it to build new capital ships except as Germany. Ships in production at the start with over 50% not included... No one else both has a need and can build that many. Refitting just seems to be much more cost-effective while remaining simply effective. The AI doesn't build very good templates or modern capital ships either. So it's not too hard to be better. As Austria specifically. Refit the battle fleet, don't have them leave the Adriatic, and just build subs after. You should be able to take out the Italian fleet, and the British fleet doesn't tend to go there. So Naval invasions should be possible to avoid. Not that they're especially dangerous in this mod anyway. But still.
"This is probably the first time a major power went to war, won a war, and ended up with less land than it did before." That summaries every major Ally post-WWII with the exception of the Soviet Union and the US due to decolonization. France was particularly victimized by this as Algeria and Indochina were already lost.
one thing that broke austria-hungary, is that Hungary had its own military, while also able to decide on how Austria builds up its military and most of the time they stopped any build up for an imperial army, which kept Austria much weaker than it could.
You should have tried to rebel as Hungary, there is a tree-line for that in the focus where the 1848 paty wins and you basicaly build up and try to convince the Croats and the Bosznians to rise up with you. I don't know for sure if you can go down that focus after the peace treaty, but it would have given you something interesting to do post war. Alternatively you can side with the loyalists and get Konrad and his paramilitarsits in power and create this wierd Imperial-Royal thingy.
I was wondering, did anyone ever tried to not only reconquer lost territories in WWI but also conquer the old territories of Austria Hungary with Germany?
To be fair, I kind of agree with that. Had it not been for the stresses of WW1, I think Russia would have made the transition to constitutional monarchy much more easily than Austria-Hungary. It would certainly not have been an easy road, but it had far fewer obstacles to progress than the Austrian path. Austria-Hungary really had a uniquely bad mix of administrative and political inertia, violently regressive Hungarian nationalists who wanted to protect their position as second-strongest grouping within the empire, and an absolute boatload of disgruntled nationalists within the disenfranchised ethnic groups within the empire. I replied to @untitledanimation8130 further up, outling some of the problems the Austro-Hungarians faced in more detail.
A-H losing territory after a WW1victory is actually pretty darn historical based on what Central Powers were considered irl. But really, any war the Habsburgs stay in power is really a victory.
Not after a victory. It is historical somewhat for Italy. While everyone likes to claim that the Treaty of Versailles caused World War II because of Germany's terms, in reality, it did cause Italy to ultimately join the Axis as they were upset of having bled so much for so little and not getting the land they were promised by the Entente when they joined. Part of this was their own fault as they left in a huff at the conference drafting the new continent and everyone decided Italy forfeited its claim as a result even when they returned.
I like how at 16:00 we can literally see Austria-Hungary and the German Empire switching roles. (Irl the German Empire was the competent one and the Austrians were the autistic ones.)

Cool Video Bittersteal. But i want to know abit of history. Like why is austria-hungary so divided? I pretty sure during the austrian empire, they were powerful. What happened to them
The empire was a collection of holdings that just happened to have the same owner, ruled mostly from Austria (the ancestral holding of the Habsburgs). There was never a real effort to integrate all these parts
TL;DR: 19th-century nationalist movements really did a number on the Austrian empire more than any other European power (with the possible exception of the Russian empire) The cracks really started to show in the 19th century, specifically during the revolutions of 1848. Prior to 1848, there had been the occasional uprising in Hungary and the Balkans, but there wasn't a really a concept of Hungarian or Slavic "identity." In 1848, this all changed. In the space of a few months, the bubbling sentiments in Budapest, Prague and Sarajevo boiled over into a series of revolts. These revolts were also happening elsewhere in Europe, but since the Austrian empire had conquered so many different ethnic groups, it compounded the problem somewhat. The Hungarians were most successful during 1848, driving the Austrian army out and forming a parliament that made multiple declarations around Hungarian borders, language and identity. While the revolutions of 1848 were a failure in the short-term (most of the uprisings were brutally crushed by their respective autocracies), they laid the groundwork for German, Polish, Slavic and (relevant here) Hungarian nationalism. By 1867, Hungarian nationalism was such a massive problem for the empire that Emperor Franz Joseph I reformed the Austrian empire into the Austro-Hungarian Dual Monarchy. This was the first (and only) "Ausgleich." Incidentally, Franz Joseph was crowned after the abdication of his uncle in 1848 at the age of just 18. He would be emperor of Austria-Hungary until his death in *1916*. Unfortunately for Austria-Hungary, acceding to Hungarian nationalists in 1867 fired the starting gun for every other ethnic group in the empire to demand parity with the Austria and Hungary. This led to a steadily simmering of Czech, Slovak, Polish, Ukrainian, Croatian, Bosnian and Serbian nationalism that would weaken the empire over the next 40 years, culminating in the assassination of the Austro-Hungarian heir Franz Ferdinand by Bosnian Serbs in 1914. Interestingly, it's possible that the empire could have made the transition to a more federal model by enacting an Ausgleich which included all of the disparate ethnic groups of the empire, but a) that would have left Austria as very much the "first among equals" of the nations within the empire, and b) this would have royally (haha) pissed off the Hungarians, who weren't interested in being just another nation within the empire, but rather really wanted the ability to persecute their non-Magyar populations to their heart's content.
For a bit more context after the Napoleonic wars Austro-Hungary(which as mentioned wasn't called that yet) had substantial possessions and influence in Italy, which was broken up into multiple states, and was the head of the German Confederation. However in 1859 Austro-Hungary lost a war to France and the newly formed Italy, losing most of its land in modern Italy, it then lost a war against Prussia in 1866 and got kicked out of the German Confederation making Prussia the undisputed hegemon of Germany which Prussia would then use to form the German Empire after a war with France. Additionally Austria had abandoned its alliance with Russia(there's allot that went on around that but if I wrote it here I'd be writing a full Wikipedia article). The sum total of all of that left Austro-Hungary with Russia as an enemy fighting a cold war with them over influence and territory in the Balkens, Italy as an enemy since Italy wanted even more land from them around the Adriatic Sea and once Serbia gained independence from the Ottomans(and then had a coup that killed the royal family) another enemy that wanted to do to Austro-Hungary's Balken holdings what Italy and Prussia had done to its italian and german holdings/influence. And the only ally they had was their former rival Prussia(now Germany) that propped them up to counter Russia. Oh and they hadn't industrialized to the same degree as Germany, France, the UK, and Italy, so their economy was worse per capita and therefore their army couldn't afford the same quality of equipment as the other nations.
The "take-Paris-Entente-surrenders" thing is silly and needs to go. The Schlieffen Plan was about capitulating France and then moving on to Russia with full force but 1) Britain was not expected to join the war and 2) Russia was still expected to fight until defeated so this event is pointless and makes the game boring and easy.
