Yall have to give Fuel Drums a try, normally you can push onneeeee more tile than you think you can, doesn't help with lack of supply but certainly does help if you have stored supply but no stored fuel

@@shadowkyun They're under special modules, Normally they're outlcassed by other modules (easy maint, sloped armor, etc) late game but mid game they're great!

Watch as Bittersteel cosplays Stalin. With memorable lines such as "I probably don't need to user the Dejanipur line" and "Fallback, oh no my units are getting encircled" just as Stalin probably said.
Stalin was so convinced that Hitler wouldn't attack so he refused to belive his own intelligence aparatus. Then he got depressed for a few days and retreated to his Dacha. No one else wanted to lead the Soviet Union at this time when the Politburo came to bring him back to lead the Nation. How he could think that way is strange given that everything he did in the 30s was to prepare for the war. Even the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact was an improvisation as Stalin desperately tried to get Britain amd France to ally with him against Germany.
@@marcusappelberg369 my dude stalin knew germany was going to attack, he just thinked that will be after defeating britain, also stalin wasnt depressed, as molotov says in his remembers, and yeah he didnt wanted to believe intelligence thats true but you never knew if someone was lying
@@rafaello7079 Yeah, cause he believed Hitler didn't want a two front war. And I guess he had his reasons to not trust his intelligence since the purges had taken place recently and he didn't know who to trust.

Awesome concept! If you want another challenge, doing the same except you play as Germany until Churchill takes over at which point you switch to the UK could be a really interesting one to go for, with some extra roleplay elements thrown in! I don't think I've ever actually seen a democratic D-day before either in one of your guides, it'd be super interesting to watch!

I think it'd be better if he plays italy for that one so he can more easily take Gibraltar, the Suez and save italian east africa.

I love this. I once did something similar in Three Kingdoms, where I simultaneously built up BOTH northern and southern China, then played against the AI as the more agrarian south.

Well, I knew it was going rough when "No air" was mentioned.
It's probably the one uniting factor I've seen in like 90% of Disaster Games out there. Someone just went like: "Well I'm not going to make more airplanes than my enemy, so I just won't make ANY"... and they get punished for it. A lot.
So in your descent into madness the next step will be artillery only?

This is my favorite HOI4 channel. He is not tiring and boring by too much of sarcasm like sorrow or tommy do. He doesn't rush, play too calculating like m3an( I respect his style of videos though). He just plays and narrates like it should be.

One thing I'd like to know is if Germany kept the smartly-organized divisions or if they proceeded to scrap them for whatever garbled nonsense the AI usually makes.
If you’re talking about orders and defensive lines the moment you change nation they change them all and change the templates of the future divisions

I just did the same recently and had a blast. Also, oof no air run. You’re a mad man!
When you watch a Bitt3rSteel video and he loses 44 divisions to a counter-encirclement @18:52, makes me feel not so bad
There's one thing I noticed when messing around with the command console is that the AI would usually replace the good division templates you made, decommission them and then make the usual crappy templates you would expect from the AI. I don't know if the same applies to tank, airplane or ship templates.
So this challenge might not be that hard imo, but it's pretty cool to see. The extra industrial power, and efficient use of the focus tree from the early game does gave the AI some edge.
This is why I think that air dropped supply is genuinely worthwhile when you are using tanks.
This is a very interesting and unique idea. You could do the same thing with japan/china, UK/germany, etc. I would watch that! Great idea!
You had such a good Germany, and they immediately changed your production and added in 15 million commanders for each division.

In my first HOI4 game ever UK went with Operation Unthinkable and it took me until 1963 to capitulate USA and see the end screen. By the end of the game I had 990 divisions of port and fort guards (10 width infantry, later 10 width motorized and by the very end 10 width mechanized, just because I could, but when I switch port and fort guards from infantry to motorized naval invasions stopped being a problem). I made naval invasion onto Alaska with 30 medium amphibious tanks (42 width) and followed it up with 180 division of modern tanks (also 42 width). After Vancouver fell it was just bloodbath, they could not do nothing, I didn't even bother to set up the air. But to be honest I should be dead in 1946-48, Allies had 3 times more troops and 3 times more industry than I while I had 2 times more casualties (in 1946 I was pure infantry) and I lost two armies (48 divisions) in Africa because I did not notice naval invasion in Egipt while trying to push through jungles and savanna. :v

Attacking the Baltics is actually not that good of an idea, since you're creating a longer frontline and more ports to guard. Besides, you don't get cores anyway so it really isn't worth it if you're just trying to beat Germany.
This is like that one moment in a mobile strategy game when you tell to yourself "i'll do nice this time" then you start pushing 1 country and get declared on by everyone, but the thing is you are so strong by this point you just position tons of troops everywhere and push everyone, then map just becomes cursed
I found as the Soviets that spreading tanks across two or three tiles and support attacks with infantry is the way to go when trying for encirclements. Tanks alone cannot push 7 or 8 infantry divisions if you're on red air, even with AA

I did this same thing except I did a successful Sealion, capped the Allies, prepared for Barbarossa, and tagged SOV only a few months before the invasion started. Was tricky but I won in the end.
someone needs to do a mod where you play a country and at the end you can go back in time in a different country and the original one will follow exactly how you played

25:45 yeah that is happening a lot actually it seems. for me it was turkey being as broke as ever, I had to close the game via task manager, reload a save, force a non agression pact with them, and then do something annoying: I disbanded the comintern and took over the allies faction (not hard with the ussr), and then kicked turkey out of it (cause like hell I was going to invade the USA or the UK). that happened in 2 different occasions for me, 1 when I was the russian empire, and the second with the soviets trying to do the not one step back achievment

Another idea would be having play with you just to set up Italy as well so Germany Would have competent an ally.

@Bitt3rSteel I know you like Superior Firepower so much but Grand Battleplan is so good for the Soviet Union you stop the Germans dead in their tracks and if you do it correctly you can have 2 full army groups of 30 combat with divisions to defend your lines. Only thing is you're going to need to build a lot of Anti-Tank guns and a decent Airforce. I know 30 Combat Width isn't meta but it works beautifully on the AI especially Germany.
I genuinly think this is what happend in Real life, and thats why the Germans were so strong at the start and why the Soviets... lets say lacked, but then it all turned around as Bittersteel tagged them

It occurs to me after watching the video a bit I had originally suggested invading a country and getting them made 3/4 capitulated - then switching to the country being invaded. Perhaps that will be the next step?
Something that i noticed your tank micro needs some work you don't have to have them all in one place if the are 40 width or above the maximum you gonna have in one battle is three so you could station at most 4Divs and keep the rest two or three tiles off the line then move them when you get the breakthrough remember supply penalties are distractive especially for tanks oh and keep an eye for the fuel gauge next to the division name
This can work as a whole series of videos. Like a similar scenario, but let's say with the UK, etc., or a variation of it with Japan, but you play as British Raj or something similar. Good idea ;).

I'd be interested to see how you'd fare against the Expert AI mod with this kind of scenario, from my experience the standard AI is just trash and tends to throw away any advantage you can give it.
The Tank design you showed at the beginning is ok as it is, but the struggle you had later could've been made significantly easier by adding extra fuel to your tanks.
Massive total war there at the end, it was so funny to watch "all vs all, everyone for themself" scenario

There is no challenge here. First actually attack soviets and then switch nations. More fun, more of a challenge, more content. It's so simple. And fun.
Turkey declared war at 24:56, and they called in the France at 25:08. You can also see the SU flag in the Italian war list at 25:18, and the lone unit snaking it's way to Crimea at 25:30.
Might be fun to try this again by starting off as Japan and sinking some or most of the US fleet in 1941 to simulate Pearl Harbor, then tag over to the US to rebuild. Or, start off as the UK and defeat the Italians in Africa and sink their navy, then tag over and fight off all of those lovely naval invasions :)

I did something similar years, but after I led Germany to a superpower status that was able to invade the US, then tried to survive as the US. It was a blast losing. You should play as the US in this scenario.
IDEA(similar to this): you playing but a random timer going from 5-10 minutes varying everytime and when the timer runs out a random country that you are fighting is selected for you to play as( if no war is happening you dont switch, and if you dont want to get a random country you could just do like you did it here, just take control of lets say germany at random times(and switch back and fourth), so you will need to counter your own attacks and stuff like that. (it will work like playing chess with yourself, and you will still want to win, and that will be why you will tread on)

I enjoyed this, but I was a bit disappointed that this wasn't that disaster save where you turned Gernany into a two or three state mess. Seeing you beat the world as the Soviets after seeing you conquer Europe as a tiny stretch of France is... not as impressive as it could be.

I know it's a slog, but I want you to make this savefile into a world conquest. Team up with Japan to take on the americans and then take on the Japanese.
You could just press B button it would make them take the most effective and fast route ie. Railway tiles and move on them works if you just press the railway button on screen above units under the general but you would want to ctrl+b if you don't want them to change course
