  • @destinypirate
    @destinypirate 2 месяца назад +23

Caitlin Clark was at first the Canary in the Cultural Mine of WBB, now she is for the entire culture.
    - She and her coach and teammates did everything the right way. If we can't treat them right and enjoy the excitement and great role modeling they've given us, then we know we've gone further backwards then the time of Tiger Woods - when most of us came together to buoy him past the gatekeepers.
    - Besides the pettiness of the hive mind following cheap race politics and all, the national championship game was a travesty. One team is completely made up of five star players, they lose five and get five more and then "coach of the year". Nobody but homers is buying it. Five teams have won 70% of all WNCAA championships. The incredible competitive imbalance of player distribution, whether through direct collusion or lack of oversight, destroys the sport.
    - Clark and Iowa just showed the country that 500% more people want to watch women's basketball, but they want to watch fairly built teams with the best coaching around great talent, not a modern Red Auerbach controlling the recruiting back door.
    - We are about to see the biggest drop in viewership of any sports league in history. If the WNBA doesn't wake up from being angry and woke they're about to drop the biggest ball that anyone's ever dropped.
    - Imagine a reality where haters ruled the Magic and Bird story of inspiration.

Well said. Couldn't agree more. Like you said, to some NCAA is just a business of 5 star players. Iowa showed America different. That's how it should be. That's how it was when I played when we were just starting out. Title 9. The passion, joy and love. Let's leave POLITICS out of the sports people.

Sorry but this is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard. Get a hobby. This has been fun and if anyone ruins it it will be MAGA fools like you who can’t just say Caitlin’s awesome. It has to be Caitlin’s awesome because and then proceed to put someone else down. The reason she caught on is because NBA has lost its focus on athleticism and Caitlin plays just like an NBA player. When the WNBA started we had real athletes driving the narrative, dunking etc and they tried to market that Lisa Leslie can dunk when it was nothing like what MJ or LeBron can do. Anyone can shoot threes.

This woman is single-handedly saving women’s Basketball and Dianna taurasi can go kick rocks….just because she’s a Christian heterosexual woman doesn’t mean you have to hate. WNBA is gaining the attention and viewership of men and this is exactly what the WNBA needs….oh and juju Watkins and angel Reese are also Christian and Hetero, times are changing for the WNBA and talent is talent…Gatekeepers aren’t gonna win this war

No, she didnt. smh You just trying to make it all about that one incident like some noob whining and not actually using a little common sense. Had you been paying attention you would know theres been plenty of others saying things. A simple search here on RUclips makes it pretty obvious and easy to see.

Caitlin is the perfect ambassador for the WNBA and her draft class has more talent than the sport has potentially ever seen at one time. There's an opportunity for the sport to thrive, and I'd love to continue to watch Caitlin's journey in the pros, a league that needs her fans. But when former players seem unwilling to accept her and sports reporters like Elle Duncan telling prospective fans (read: men) to shut up and listen, the WNBA has the potential to blow this golden chance with too much lecturing. Millions want to see Caitlin succeed and watch great players, but will the sport and its gatekeepers let us.

That's the problem the league has though. There's not much other reason to watch besides her. What if she gets hurt? What if her career is short? The WNBA has no other reason to watch except for to see CC play. I'm just here to watch it all fall apart.

The realization is that the talent has gotten better!! Watch the Hoop Summit 2024 game, the talent level is insane. I've always said that women had better fundamentals and had to because the athleticism isn't at the male level for obvious reasons. Game is in a great place!!! College Basketball will be phenomenal next season!!!

What I’m really not understanding is all of the criticism is coming from other women. The WNBA is a business that’s losing money and needs to find a new way to rebrand themselves to give the audience something they wanna see. Now you have a female player who is a generation talent who’s bringing attention to the sport who’s gonna build the WNBA and it’s other women who are tearing her down out of jealousy

You have WNBA players who should be ambassadors of the sport, instead publicly verbalizing personnal attacks against Clark without instigation, while the WNBA league has poised itself to essentially use and take advantage of her brand for their own benefits.
Getting the same pay as every other rookie seems like robbery.
I hope they plan to compensate her with bonuses or a percentage of ticket sales that her presence on the court generates for the league.
She isn't even in the WNBA yet and teams are already anticipating her impact on ticket sales by getting larger venues to host the Fever when she arrives on their home turf.
We all have our eyes on you WNBA. Here is your chance to shine. Don't blow it.
