We’re Marianne and Chris, a married couple from the UK. After some life changing events we decided that life was just too short. We sold all our belongings, bought an old Campervan & rented our house to travel full time. The aim is to attempt to visit every country in the world in either our van or with a backpack. We started videoing our travels for our family and then decided it was a wonderful way to document and share our adventures.
Our latest adventure started in January 2020 when we left the UK in an attempt to drive our van all the way around the world. Let the adventures continue.
One of my favourite places for sure, I go there regularly as I live in Marmaris. Don`t forget Datca is famous for Almonds. They make everything from Coffee and chocolate with them, and Olives and olive products of course. Also it has the lowest humidity in the area which you feel the difference massively in the hot summer as you travel up and down the peninsula. Plenty of history there as well. Happy Travels people.

Datca is absolutely gorgeous! They are so kind to animals that they provided bird houses. Turkey seems so special. Can’t wait till the world opens up and I can get there. Because of you I now know what areas in Turkey I want to visit so I thank you for that!

Thankyou Chris and Marianne for being able to see our beloved Datca again. We had planned to go back last year but due to the virus we were unable. They have improved the town so much with the lovely seafront and roads. We bought a property there 16 years ago and regret selling up 5 years ago. This video took us back again sooo nostalgic. Turkia rare country has four season in a year. And 3 different climate type.
How nice! That bar with the amazing view is my favorite spot to sit and chill with a milkshake. :D I heard Datca is known for its cleanest air. ;) Enjoy!

What a lovely couple. We were going to visit Turkey third time last year and make a big loop visiting many cities, but of course had to cancel our trip. We will make another plan when travel bans are lifted in Canada and add Datca and Akyaka to our trip, thanks to your vlogs.

I like dalyan most got the best flair patara and datca are very good to but to far away from Airport to small
So Datça gets the thumbs up! I’m so pleased that it stopped raining for you. As you travel along the spine of the peninsula, you can often see the sea on both sides. Wonderful. Akyaka is also wonderful. Ak = white, yaka = collar. Hope that you successfully intercepted the power bank on its way to İzmir! Looking forward especially to your next few videos, of a coastline I know and love. Thanks!
Hi Graham. Thank you for your remark and translation. I'd like to have a go with another translation. Ak = white (as you said), yaka = side, as in Karşıyaka = the opposite (or the other) side (of the road, bridge, waterway, peninsula, etc.) So, Akyaka could also mean Whiteside. Cheers. :)

Hi! If you havent yet moved too farther from Datca. I recommend you check out the town Selimiye about 80km from Datca. It's so serene and beautiful. A tiny town with a very speacial feel. I was there just this September on a road trip from Antalya to Izmir with foreign friends, and it was everyone's favorite town! (And it tells a lot considering our amazing route!)

The Med coast does get quite a lot of storms in the winter as well as quite cold weather. You're right about resources, I still have some habits formed from my (3 year long) van travels 40 years ago. Thanks again for going to places for me.

We came to Datça from Istanbul 10 years ago. We fell in love here, just like you. We now live here. You have described Datça very well with the eyes of a foreigner. I congratulate you. I hope you liked our country and our people. I wish you happy travels with your caravan.

I am a Turkish expat living/working in Amsterdam. My family fell in love with Datca and couple of years ago they bought a house to spend their summers.
I had the opportunity to visit there last summer and felt like the “life” we have is not worth it compared to this heavenly places of the Earth.

Datça is beauty places
Draw a line between Çanakkale and Hatay. Cities under this line is hot, warm even winter. But Trakya, Karadeniz, East and Middle Anatolia is so cold during winter. If you want to stay warm, you should stay in the Mediterranean coast. 😂

Datca is a beautiful town. I have been in Marmaris 5 years. I went to Datca often when I was living in Marmaris. Palamutbuku is a beautiful place in Datca. I miss Palamutbuku...

I'm happy to know you arrived safely at your new destination I did have a holiday there 10 years ago I presume everything would be changed in different by now I hope it works out for you and also I hope you get Trudy fixed or should I say better and also you need the power but I know you will deal with it in your stride and I'm also jealous the weather looks good there and also I've only been a week and I've already had enough of these restrictions that we are having bad down on us in the UK and all these lock Downs also I look at the facts on why that you are inspiring me to do as much travelling as possible especially as this time next week it will be my birthday and I will be a year old but not wiser but what do you expect when you're 61 my toes are getting your cheat and I will be on my way as soon as I can I will keep in contact and as usual keep an eye on your little travels around the world all the best Ricky in the UK PS I live in Cheltenham 10 minutes away from the racecourse what a downer xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I am not sure whether it is open but I wish you could visit "Knidos" a very famous arhaelogical site near Datça, but you have already hit the road the opposite direction to Marmaris :)

Many foreigners think Turkey is always very warm. I don’t where they get perception from...Turkey can be very cold. Eastern Turkey can be extremely cold, like minus 30 in winter..
Next time going to datca, I reccomend going to mesudiye. Everything is family owned hotels and resuarants, extremely comfy beaches and an amazing ”boat trip”

There is free parking lot behind the post office in the city center.you could stay there and be close to city life

I live in Aydın which also has Mediterranean climate and touristic, there are many British people who live here especially in Kuşadası district. I can recognize them by looking at them in winter. While we are wearing our coats and scarfs they are wearing tshirts so I laughed when you said it's 16 degrees I'm wearing tshirt. Because 16 degrees is COLD for us 😅

Hey guys, love your channel. Keep up the good work. About the weather; while it's def. warmer than Britain Turkey gets quite chilly in winters. This is one of the warmest winters we ever had. This time last year there was a snow blizzard and this is the first winter without snow I have had in my life. The weather is unusually warm so I guess u kinda got lucky :)

Datca is one of best places in Turkey. It is considered as a remote area, the main road from Marmaris was not so good before. I think you have dived in Sipadan, as you mentioned Scuba Junkies and Borneo, after Sipadan no dive is good enough. Mediterranean looks so blue but it is a poor sea for marine life.
