Dear friends, you are lucky to be stuck in Turkey, it is an incredibly hospitable country, I should know I have been on holiday more than 15 times. I have only traveled 26 different countries and Turkey is at the top of my travel list. I am going to Alanya for three weeks in May this year and it may be interesting for you to visit this region. In June I will go for one week to Oludeniz, one week to Kas and + one week to Kalkan. Greetings from Brussels - Belgium
Lorraine, that's fabulous and seems to describe the lovely Ersel very well. Go you and go Ersel. Those of us with our own Ersels in our life are very lucky and blessed ❤️
I really loved which Marianne said to Chris: at least you’ll have quality times with your wife. How lovely is that? She always looks from the bright side. How lucky is Chris that he has a wife like her. ❤️❤️
You can tell they are just the very best of friends as well as husband and wife. Don't think you could do this trip otherwise. Its what an ideal relationship should be I think. Love, respect, best friends with a lot of humour and laughter thrown in.
Dear Marianne and Chris, I've been watching your videos for a while in these curfew days. All of them are amazing. I am gratefull to you both for my beautiful country. Your channel is one of the best way to present Turkey and Turkish people. Please take good care. Hopefully you are not cold in Trudy, during these snowy days
Don’t be afraid your youtube family and their prayers are with you , hope things don’t go wrong anymore and don’t forget you are in a beautiful country like Turkey.
You lovely people, I hope everything more or less goes as you planned it and I am keeping my fingers crossed for you! I really love watching your videos and being a German-Turk it fills me with pride that you have so many wonderful experiences in Turkey - I didn't expect anything else to be honest. Greetings from Germany! Stay healthy!
My other home! Yay! However, oh so cold at the moment but lots of sunshine this week. Enjoy Fethiye and Çalış. Çalış plajı means Working Beach because there were railway lines along the seafront from the nearby chromium mines to where the Şat Beach Club is now. From there boats would take chromium to be exported far and wide! In a couple of places the railway lines were still visible (last year). The current works may have unearthed more, but the works are so dramatically huge that you are not seeing Çalış at its best 😢.
Happy for you that you are not in the UK. Turkey looks a very nice place. Hoping you avoid bureaucratic nightmares as much as possible and can get where you want to go.
We started going to Turkey a couple of times a year in 1995,we always wanted to drive from one end of Turkey to the other but never had the confidence to do it.The roads used to be really bad and scary,we did always hire cars where ever we were and would set of on adventures. One time we followed a track up and up a mountain only to find it just ended.Trying to turn back on a road as wide as the car with frightening drops to the side was an adventure to say the least. The roads are wonderful now, mostly,it is wonderful to see the confidence you both have driving on your adventures. We are no longer able to follow our dream but we follow it with you.Stay safe.❤️
Such an entertaining watch! sometimes when things don't go your way on the road you just have to laugh and get on with it...that's why you guys are such great travellers, you take everything in your stride and don't let things phase you. I'm looking forward to finding out what happens at the border.

As German Turks, we had the same problem, the solution is to bring the vehicle to the customs and leave it there. They attach a document to your passport; you need this to leave and get your vehicle later back. You can pick up the car when you return. Theoretically, you could have brought Trudy to the customs port in Antalya and left her there. It’s been a couple of years when we did this, not sure what the current situation is.
Yes - this is our option for next time ... but seeing that the borders were about to close to UK citizens and not being sure when they would open again ... we took the chance ... woo hoo - life on the road is full of bumps ... but we will be ok as we have our home with us 🌺 🚐 Thank you for your message 🤗
Even though thanks to Polar Steps,we do know now you are still in Turkey at this time,so it must have turned out okay in the end, I have to say the bumps on your road are beyond hardship. I do feel It is sharing the joy with you, not watching a pretending show. Secondly, this episode is like a season finale. I was expecting to watch another beautiful coastal town and there is a huge plot twist and found myself on a timely race to go Bulgaria. Please give me some spoilers from the next episode, you guys made it? Everything ok? The heroes are surviving again from this evil plans of covid plus bureaucracy and paperwork trap?please let me know, i will worry otherwise. I think there should be some other alternatives, rather than needing to leave country, maybe possibilities to extend the valid duration of your licenses especially on this pandemic times. Have you guys ever contacted any office (related government agencies) in Turkey to seek for advise?
Hi Solo Vintage - thank you for your message ... We will always be ok as we have our home and each other .. and we have a saying ... It will all be alright in the end .. and if it is not alright ... it is not the end !! so it will all become clear and we will be giving more of an explanation at the beginning of the next video to make the options clear 😘🙌
How much deposit (carnet) did you have to pay for Trudy as and how does it work when you travel from country to country Love to know I’m seriously thinking of following you’re footsteps ... needs the work out the costs and what’s involved... Thx
Hi C Tahir - it depends so much ... for our planned trip we only needed a carnet for Australia and Malyasia ... but for example if you drive to Malaysia (and not ship) you do not need a carnet !! So if you plan to do a trip like this ... speak to a carnet agent in your country and ask them the regulations for vehicles from your country - if you are living in the UK there are lots of facebook forums online too to help you plan - if you check out some of the videos on our channel Chris talks about them 😉🚐🙌
Putting a car in customs in Turkey during the 60s was a long process. We took ski vacations in Austria every winter and took the train there . After a couple years of that , my dad decided it would be easier to drive to Austria
Hi - the MOT is only required for insurance on your UK / greencard countries insurance and we have Turkish insurance and we are heading East so none of the countries we are going through don't require an MOT and we don't plan to drive back to the UK or EU countries. If we are unable to continue East we can ship home directly from Turkey - we have worked out plans around the MOT to avoid having to come back every year and stop the adventure 👍 😉 Marianne
@@noname34 Thanks that begins to make more sense now. It is similar to rules that require foreign residents to convert their UK driving license to a local one after a certain time, while tourists do not have to. It seems that being a temporary resident they somewhat fall in between. Which begs the larger question, are their options going to be narrowed down soon to 1) become permanent residents or 2) return to the UK?
Hi Mortimer - I have read all the messages and yes it is to do with the 6 month rule for the drivers licence in Turkey - we are going to explain a bit more on the next video - we are still planning the world drive - but as always we have to be flexible and we can't say exactly the plan as you can not plan LOL - but we will continue to share as it happens .. flexibility and a sense of humour is the only way forward for us as we are not just going to quit but instead power on and share as we go 👍 🌺 Marianne

@@TREADtheglobe we absolutely loved El Salvador! Such an underrated country. We agree that it's a shame that so many people miss it as it's such a wonderful country with amazing people. It was one of our favourites of the area. We're still in Nicaragua. We got here in March last year and decided to wait out the pandemic in Nicaragua rather than trying to get all the way back to our home in Australia. We're happy we stayed as it's a beautiful country and it's been fantastic being able to experience a country more fully by living the day to day life here and participating in the cultural activities that occur throughout the year.
Just fabulous to hear - what an amazing opportunity !! Woo Hoo - I do hope we get to meet up on the road one day ... there will be some great stories to tell for sure !! xx
You can actually leave the country while leaving your vehicle behind. I've done it at the airport. You sign a paper with the customs with the address where you've left it. It was easy!
Oh dear me!! You both make me laugh so much. What a journey to get to Bulgaria and it’s not over yet. Can’t wait for Wednesday to see what happens next It was nice to see you ‘live’ from the radar with Murat on Friday. Hi guys, well we are back into a local lockdown here in Spain so not going anywhere in our van for a while 😕 Nice to see that you are showing just some of the stresses and pressures of real time vanlife, obviously not nice for you guys, but good to see some honesty instead of everything through rose tinted glasses all the time. Stay warm and stay safe 👍

Wow, what an adventure you two are on. Can't wait to see what happens, hope you make it. When you said mosquito, I cringed. Those little guys just love my blood and will seek me out. I have to wear repellent when they are around or I will have bites and swelling abound. Thank you for taking us on today's journey, I so love it! Take care now.

Hi Gail - thank you for your message - as Can explained it is to do with the driving licence - but we think we will be explaining it better at the beginning of the next video as it is not as obvious as we thought ... this kind of expedition has logistics that we need to do and of course with changeable rules and border regs it has been a bit of a mare !! But we will be sure to clarify it 💐
Wow! My heart rate has increased 30 beats watching your “drama”! Goodness! I know you planned on the “unknown” but our guess is you never planned on this crap! But we are proud of your attitudes! Just be safe out there! 🤙🤙🤙

a car in customs in Turkey during the 60s was a long process. We took ski vacations in Austria every winter and took the train there . After a couple years of that , my dad decided it would be easier to drive to Austria
More fun and games ahead 🙄
Good luck. Stay safe 👍💙❤️
Thank you! xx
Not sure why you are not heading back to the UK to get the MOT done as no MOT means no insurance!
I’m feeling anxious ... after watching 🤣🤣
I missed the reason why you are going to Bulgaria? Are you driving back to the UK?
Best of luck and safe travels.
Wondering the same thing, I'm quite confused.
@@noname34 thanks but I don’t get that. Uk driving licences can be renewed online.
Good problem solving! Quite the road trip :D
Awwh thanks ... It is fun and challenging this travel blogging in a world pandemic LOL - as you know 😂 💐 🤗
@@TREADtheglobe you're doing well, especially with all the lockdowns and other challenges to navigate! We've been fortunate that within the country we've had freedom of movement where we are in Nicaragua.
@@BucketListTravellers Thanks - We loved Nicaragua & Central America so pleased to see you visited El Salvador - so many people miss it out - Where are you now ? x
Woo Hoo - I do hope we get to meet up on the road one day ... there will be some great stories to tell for sure !! xx
I hope you can fix this problem. If you need anything, please let me know. I live in Istanbul and I can help as best I can.
You can actually leave the country while leaving your vehicle behind. I've done it at the airport. You sign a paper with the customs with the address where you've left it. It was easy!
Thanks for the tip 👍
Oh dear me!! You both make me laugh so much. What a journey to get to Bulgaria and it’s not over yet. Can’t wait for Wednesday to see what happens next
It was nice to see you ‘live’ from the radar with Murat on Friday.
I think you said your leaving Dalyan tomorrow I wonder where the road will take you ..... looking forward to the Dalyan videos in the next few weeks
Thanks Leanne - what a great time we have had with Murat and the videos will be great !! Marianne xx
Yes - we show it as it is ... although we will be optimistic as we are sickeningly happy in life LOL - kind regards and we hope that the roads open up again for everyone - Marianne 🌺
Good Luck think you need it
You two rock... Did you get through to Bulgaria?
I think There is ferry to go to one of the Greek island!
If it's the point refresh visa !
Thank you for your message - the boats to Greece stopped in March 👍 💐
@@TREADtheglobe Ohh that's annoying .
What's a adventure... everybody gross the finger s now and everything goes well ,🤞💗
Woo Hoo
You guys are like time travellers :))) 21 dec
You can leave your car at the customs in antalya and fly to istanbul.
You can even transfer the triptik to another person.
Hope all goes well, what a drama! 👍👍
Drama with a smile LOL 👍
😷😷 we are with you my friend don,t worry 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Wow, what an adventure you two are on. Can't wait to see what happens, hope you make it. When you said mosquito, I cringed. Those little guys just love my blood and will seek me out. I have to wear repellent when they are around or I will have bites and swelling abound. Thank you for taking us on today's journey, I so love it! Take care now.
Awwwh Thanks Adele - it is great to have you with us on this adventure 🙌 💐
Chris, why dont you try Greek border near İpsala ?
Fab vlog guys stay safe 👍🏴👍
Thank you 🤗
omg Chris you are one seriously lucky guy. Marianne is fucking awesome
Well thank you very much ... I think he is lucky too LOL 🌺 😉
Unbelievable. I guess nothing worthwhile is easy. "The dream must go on!" 😘😘
It really is! and we regularly say .. if it was easy to drive around the world (especially in a global pandemic) everyone would do it !! xx
Wow..what a series of events...would travelling by ferry to Greece and back be an option?
Unfortunately they stopped running in March ... but all will become clear on Wednesday - thank you for your kind message 💐
Gripping stuff guys, brexit & COVID have a lot to answer for !!!!
But friendship does win & the dream must & will continue 🤞
Praying that things will get better, or at least, you can be allowed to enter Bulgaria, get your EU permits and other legal matters taken care of, and then return safely to Turkey. Blessings in all of your travels -- May God be with you! Pastor Dean, Christian Life Church, Kissimmee FL USA.
i think i missed something, i thought you were going East. why going to bulgaria?
Hi - thank you for your message - we are going to do an explanation at the beginning to help clarify it 👍🌺
Oh no 21st December 🤔
So where are you guys???? It’s a sunny day in London so not feeling as low.Sun really is our all...Can you not do every other day vlogs.😁
Spontaneous & so nice to look forward to the unknown destination.Stay safe 🙏.
Hi - it will all become clear !! Thank you for your message - M
Rubbish day....sounds so funny...i will use this very accurate sentence in my daily life.😄😄..i hope that things will be better (and easier ..nedless to say..) in the next days to come...stay safe guys..
I’m a bit confused, why do you need to leave Turkey to go straight back? It’s not clear from the video.
They uk drive licanse use max 6 months for Turkey . Thats Why the go bulgaria and come back turkey
Oh wow! Thank you 🙌. 🌺 We are lucky to have each other and grateful to have the Tribe on our side ... always 🤗. Woo Hoo !! Marianne and Chris xx
Oh my word, sounds like a right nightmare. My guess would be Bulgaria was a no no and better to stay in Turkey? Hope you’re both keeping that sense of humour. Best of luck lovely people x
Thanks Spencer - it will all become clear on Wednesday 🌺
Thank goodness for Edsel - I think this is a sign that you should be Turkish citizens forever 😁 Meyrem and Süleyman 😁😁🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷
Ha Ha - thank you so much and thank you to Ersel as he is awesome xx

Beautiful,
Thank you! 😊
Having not slept well the night before, here she is my hero.....Marianne drives all the way up by herself from the south of Turkey to the utmost European part. To the border with Bulgaria.
And thanks Chris for counting the miles left :))
Nevertheless you must be a great guy, because you still haven't been sacked..:))) Just kidding.
Wishing you all the best, guys.
