I would legitimately love a warehouse coaster, one with no theming, and no unintentional stuff. No paint, ,no hiding supports, showing the switch track, maybe throw in a couple of boxes and fake wielding materials. No joke, that would actually be pretty cool.

I love how Dark Rides are often essentially just very simple rollercoasters but with the lights off. The atmosphere, sounds and lighting literally sell the entire thing, to the extent that, when I see a mediocre outdoor rollercoaster, I generally think 'You should've just built it inside and turned the lights off and it would've been 10 times better'.

In my opinion, Space Mountain is meant to be experienced with all of its effects, in near-total darkness. The main thing Space Mountain banks on is the unknown. Unless you’ve memorized every part of the track, you’ll never know what’s coming up ahead and that is what gives Space Mountain some, if not most of its intensity.

Space mountain isn’t really a fast ride, if I’m not mistaken the cars ride and test track are almost 2 times faster! (I think SM top speed is 27.5mph whilst the cars ride is 40mph & test track can reach 64.7mph!) What makes SM scary is how dark it is, causing unpredictability, how loud it is, how sharp the turns are, how bumpy of a ride it is & the seats! The one at DL is much smoother than this one and the DL car makes you feel MUCH safer!

We were stuck there for about 10-15 minutes and when the lights came on it was amazing. We got to see so many carts on the Alpha side go past and we just kept waving at them. It was hilarious. We also loved waving at the People Mover whenever they’d pass. I’d like to think we created a core memory for so many people that day. 😂

I miss when most of the rides at disney had their own theme and disnt have to rely on stupid IPs. Think of all the classics, pirates, imagination, thunder mountain, space mountain, matterhorn, small world, jungle cruise, horizons, tiki room, expedition everest, count down to extinction, spaceship earth, and so so many more have zero connection with not just any disney film but any film at all. Gutting tower if terror for that garbage gardians of the galaxy ride was a sin. Kinda crazy how they managed to make this one of their “scariest” rides!! Work smarter, not harder!

The one in Paris is much faster than any of the other Space Mountain's and it has 3 inversions, the only problem is the theming isn't as immersive or good as the other parks due to a 'bleugh' Star Wars skin, but this one is more of a thrill ride. Here's a few tidbits of info about Space Mountain...Fyi, I'm a retired, in 2016, Engineer with Lockheed Martin here in Orlando but I just finished a two year stint (I resigned in February) in Security at WDW and I worked in Custodial at Magic Kingdom back in '74 - '75 my Sr. year in H.S. The current speed of Space Mountain is 28 MPH (Fyi, 7 Dwarfs Mine Train is 32 MPH), but back in '74/'75 when the ride hadn't yet opened the cast members were allowed free test rides during their lunch breaks...at that time the Engineers had the speed at 50 MPH...I heard at the time the engineers also did test runs at 55 and 60 mph. When the ride opened in '75 it was set at 42 mph and it was completely blacked out inside so the girders could not be seen at all. After a couple "incidents" the speed was lowered several times (down to 35 mph, then 32 mph and finally to today's 28 mph) and the lights were turned up several times so the girders can easily be seen (so as to hopefully keep people from trying to stand up). Needless to say a blacked out SM at 50 MPH was a hair raising ride that you felt lucky to have survived...the G forces I remember were pretty damn forceful.

This ride feels more rough then the one in Disney Land. I broke a lanyard on this ride, my knee hurt after I got off of it and stayed hurting for a couple of days(I was thrown around a lot so I’m surprised it was only my knee that hurt, the only part of my body that wasn’t thrown around, lol) I was a little dizzy after I got off(which is not normal for me) and my organs got lost somewhere in the middle of the ride. None of which I’ve experienced on the one in Disney Land,(the Disney Land one was the first time I actually rode Space Mountain and it was great. The cast member I talked to may have or may have not slipped me a fast pass when I said I was riding it for the first time.) The WDW was fun but I won’t ride it again.

What’s great about this video is that it’s usually a once-in-a-lifetime experience through ride space Mountain with the lights on!
