Breaking Xenoblade 3 Cutscenes with Freecam [Chapter 4]

    Inspired by Theaggyu's "Moving Camera During Cutscenes" series of videos and of course by Shesez's Boundary Break.
    Watch as I unlock the camera to discover tricks/animation oddities that the developers used to either save on time and/or performance during cutscenes.

    17:02 and 17:17 Background things like this make me appreciate these two. If you're not paying attention, you'll miss it. (Pause at 17:20 if you want a good laugh. Just what were you looking at, Taion?)
    21:32 The literal black boxes have me cracking up for some reason.

    Mio's face transitioning from being super expressive to being completely emotionless when the camera isn't supposed to focus on her face will never not be funny to me. Anyways I'm expecting Chapter 5's video to be around an hour long.

      I would've loved to see a close-up of Noah and Mio diving behind the shields after they cut down P and O, as well as the forehead poke when he tells Mio that her eyes are red. But this was a fantastic video! I'm looking forward to the rest of it. And yes, Mio's face going from emotional to dead-eyed expression is hilarious 😂

    A few questions since I got around to watching the video through:
    1. Is it possible to use the camera with pre-rendered scenes or no? If it isn’t is the camera just unmovable?
    2. Is it just me or does Colony Delta kinda look like Dirk’s in his flashback? It’s probably just a generic Agnian colony used for cutscene purposes
    3. Since you’re using an emulator do you plan on doing model swaps eventually?

      1. No. Can't move the camera at all during pre-rendered scenes. I guess if there was a way to make the pre-rendered stuff invisible, you could see what's going on in-engine when they're supposed to play. XC1 and 2's (but not 3's) freecam lets you turn off loading screens and you can see the level geometry building itself in real time.
      2. That Colony is re-used for the Colony Theta flashbacks with Mio and Sena. And the battlefield is re-used with Crys flashback scenes. Can't check Dirk's flashback because it's pre-rendered.
      3. Probably not. Now if a real-time corruptor were to work with Yuzu and I could make crazy stuff like this happen during cutscenes, I'll make videos for that.
