    Their mutual respect and fight rivalry is actually one of my favourite parts about the game cuz they exemplify how fucked up the world is.
    In Aionios, a world where "fighting in order to live/living to fight" is the rule, the height of passion two people can share for each other is brutal, yet mutual combat. Both Ethel and Cammuravi are dutiful and powerful soldiers without comparison, but they share that hidden affinity for that equality that they both know they only feel with the other. Both of their highest desires is that fated, idealistic rematch where they can throw everything else to the wind and just go off on each other with no care in the world but themselves. The second they’re liberated from their control, they immediately run away from their duty and engage in what they always wanted, ignorant the rest of the world around them and not caring that the height of their desires is being taken advantage of and is draining their life. Its literally a Romeo and Juliet story. They die embraced in each other in close quarters, going out smiling. And it is in that that the real existential vulgarity of Aionios lies, in that the heights of their lives and shared intimacy can only exist smothered in death.
    They didn't have literal sex, but they made love.

    i personally believe that these two were never truly rivals, it was just the only relationship they could have, the world and their positions prevented anything else. they obviously respected each other beyond any reasonable limit, and looked forward to there fights on the battlefield more then anything else. it was like their version of a date. it's tragic. the only time they ever got to hold each other was the day they died. at least they get to rest together.
    this games so well written and it respects the player enough to leave this ambiguous enough that you can choose to connect the dots, or ignore them entirely.
    so many questions by 40 hours, i can't wait to have them answered tbh
    i have to say, once i realized the implications of cammuravi dying here, i was a little heart broken.. i was distracted by the moment.. but the second it passed.. and i realized cammuravi's class is probably going to be a reward for some super long, maybe secret mission in end game.. since he's not alive to give it to you himself. it'll probably be finding his spear or something like that. oh well, it looks insane. it'll be all the more satisfying if it needs work to obtain.
    sort of blew me away when i hit level 40 5 minutes before the clock said 40 hours. i doubt it went this smoothly for everyone, but damn did that make my jaw drop.
    hope everyone is enjoying as much as i am.

    • @eowade9211
      @eowade9211 4 месяца назад

      Of course they were rivals. Rivalry isn't always without fair-play, especially when one is basicaly following the bushido (so high morals), and the other is a commander, beloved beyond reason by her subordinates, showing she is deserving of respect, and is still worth following even in her darkest hour.
      Ethel could never strike an enemy down, especialy if it's because of a maintenance issue
      Those feelings, respect and purpose she mentionned, it's thanks to this rivalry that they're born.
      Or you could sum it up by Takahashi being a Nietzsche fan boy, and Nietzsche says that it's because of your enemy that you have a purpose in life, so love him. Exactly what Ethel says and do. And Noah do say "why are you fighting each other? WE're supposed to be your ENEMIES"
      So yeah. Fair-play rivalry

    • @danknados
      @danknados 2 месяца назад

      I believe that because they were the strongest commanders of their respective nations, they were drawn to each other in the sense of them both being the strongest, and their rivalry began as a result of such. Through their rivalry, they began to understand their aspirations and their strength, with them growing to respect each other as not just warriors, but as people.

    This scene, and in general the death of Ethel and Cammuravi, never quite sat well with me. I always felt there was something wrong with it, but I never understood what. After reflecting a bit, I believe I've come to a conclusion. Ethel's character serves partly as a mentor to the Uróboros, essentially marking their spirit of rebellion against the Moebius and Aionios in general through her actions. However, in her most characteristic phrase, 'if push comes to shove...' and in her actions, she also indicates that they should look out for the common good, no matter what. Ethel would want to be an Ouroboros, would want to be free like them and accompany them, but she decides not to and goes to the Castle of Keves precisely because, as a commander, she has a responsibility to fulfill and a colony to maintain. Heck, supposedly, that's precisely why her dream was to kill Cammuravi in combat.
    This scene, for me, is a total contradiction of Ethel's character. By choosing not to obey and fighting among themselves, the Consuls should have signaled the castle to annihilate Colony 4 in one fell swoop-they only forgot because they were idiots. By confronting Cammuravi, she is selfishly putting her own dream above the common good, her responsibility, and her colony. While it was necessary to give the Ouorobors a message of rebellion against authority, telling them to rebel in any circumstance regardless of the consequences and their responsibilities just seems immoral to me. At the very least, they could have helped them kill the Consuls and then fought to the death afterward.

      @@4wheal Bro if you don’t stop with these condescending and snide remarks like you know me LOL. Like discuss like a civil person or get out my face.
      does the game tell you, Ethel had X days to live? No lol. Mio had 2 months, the game is clear with that much. But Ethel? We dunno lol. It isn’t explicitly stated.
      Regardless here are the facts.
      Ourobous liberated Colony 4. They gave supplies to colony 4. They are on a grand mission to change the tragedies of this world, something Ethel herself had voiced that she wants to change as well despite liking the fighting.
      Also I don’t know if the game spells out. Ethel was in love with Camanari. Just that she loved fighting and loved finishing what they had started prior to the main games storyline.

      @@fallenstars8775 Okay, so that’s the real answer then. I’m glad you spelled it out for me, because that’s all I got. “They love to senselessly fight to the death, and throw caution to the wind?” Like what pissed me off is.
      You fight against Ourobous, serving as an obstacle.. you break free from the mindcontrol…and then you decide to just kill yourself instead of helping Ourboris lmfao

    This scene would've had more impact, if the game didn't look like it has a blur filter over it and it desperately needs anti-aliasing.

    They keep trying to pass off women as the strongest warrior in the game and i am just not buying it lol. A female mage as the strongest would be believable imo.
    Must be a Japanese fetish. I noticed this in several JRPG's i played recently. Ethel in this, Avlora and her mentor being the strongest warriors in Triangle Strategy, Sylvia the undefeated colosseum grand champion in Ys VIII, etc.

    From mixed bath scenes to down right promoting polygamy. How repulsive can this game get. At least it not as bad as the fan service in XC2. What a mess, this series needs to end especially with all the occult symbols...

      i understand being uncomfortable at the mixed bath but it was to demonstrate that their lives and bodies are solely for fighting to the point they don’t know intimacy or any of that stuff, they are only taught war and something that isn’t normal is normal for them. it does a good job at setting up how screwed their system was
