The difference between Melia and Nia cracks me up. Melia is everything you would imagine a queen would be. What is interesting is that the fake Queen used the Imperial Staff, which seems to be the High Entia version of a crown to show her fake power and postion. While the real Melia uses the World Ender, a weapon made by her beloved friends to show what she actually cares about
There's a chance Riku was once one of Melia's closest friends and knights. He kinda gives off that expression of being a mentor/father figure to the heroes, and his knowledge of the Sword of the End was amazing, why he had it, and how he was as he was, most of him was a mystery, but he remains one of the greatest heroes in the story.
Melia looks so good this game omg, her glow up looks so good. Tbh her appearance in the first game felt like she looked both young and old at the same time. I think her future connected design fixed it up a lot too but not as good as this. But also it’s disappointing that again she still doesn’t get a good future, she’s instead held prisoner for a thousand years. And to top it off she gets barely any screen time in the ending, she has a conversation with the party then dips out to save the castle. She was talked about so much the whole game and was usually the only queen that the party talked about until after they discovered that the “queen” was a robot and when they went to the city bc Nia was the one who sealed herself away before giving a key to someone. I’m glad Nia was safe but why does Melia keep getting the short end of the stick. Nia seemed to be the one who had all the information about origin and the key to numerous things. Is it bc Agnians are much stronger and Nia esp was a power beyond Moebius’s reach that they could never capture her and why she eluded them? I know she had a place that could go invisible but there were times she wasn’t on it that Moebius could appear out of nowhere? Maybe I’m forgetting something, I did enjoy this game but it just felt too rushed and the story could have done with way more chapters and being cooked a bit longer. While yes what we have here is a good story at the same time it feels like it’s missing a lot of information. But anyway, it’s upsetting that yet again Melia just can’t seem to catch a break. She couldn’t speak up and admit her feelings for someone and in the end accept her peace with it and is happy for Fiora and Shulk which good for her. But the main story for XC1 once she’s introduced is just one bad hand after another for her with watching her dad die, as well as all the telethia business and watching her brother turn into one. Future connected was a good story and set up Melia for a better path and gave a bit of hope for the future. The XC3 happens and for 95% of the story she’s a prisoner and barely has any voice lines. I mean I guess it makes sense to trap her in a place that’s almost impossible to access. Don’t get me wrong I’m really glad Nia got such a decent role in the story even though for the majority of the game she was never discussed until it was discovered that the “queen” was really a robot. I’m glad we got to rescue her and that she got to tell us about what happened, Nia’s such a good character and I’m really happy she was the Agnian queen even though the role doesn’t suit her personality. Melia’s also one of my favourite characters though as she was who kept me focused on the main game bc I struggled so hard to get into the first game bc the chapters before she’s an official party member are so boring, it took me 2 years to get through it but once she was in my party she was the only character keeping me invested bc I kept hoping that maybe something good would happen for her but it never does. I feel so bad for Melia, the poor woman just can’t seem to get a better hand dealt in life lmao. At least Nia got a good ending after xc2, her feelings were requited in the end lol.
