I have no idea how these two can stop themselves from telling their kids who they are. If I were Rex or Shulk, it would probably be one of the first things I'd say, even if I felt disappointed in myself.
0:34 This line hits so hard because Shulk is right. He, Reyn and Dunban would have been killed by Metal Face if she hadn’t stepped in. And this wouldn’t be the last time either thanks to her unexpected survival.
EDIT There were some missed opportunities when it comes to referencing or even bringing back old characters, and for me personally the one who I feel got shafted the most, even when compared to Pyra/Mythra who technically weren't even name dropped, is Fiora. I'm honestly surprised that they apparently had next to no plans regarding her for this DLC, especially when you consider all that happened in the first game that should have had some kind of effect on future games; for one thing Fiora was Mayneth's vessel, and she had inherited not only her power but also her memories. And if delved deeper, some of those very same memories might be of the old world. She also wielded Meyneth's Monado for period of time, which is also mysteriously absent unlike Zanza's/Alpha's. Did becoming a Hom's again just strip her of all of that entirely? Honestly I can't say that I like the idea of her JUST being Shulk's wife from that point onwards; I really adored and admired her as a character, and it's difficult not even knowing if she's alive or not. At the very least I wish they had mentioned her a couple more times, preferably in the main story, and not just in an affinity scene. I actually imagined a scenario where Shulk would have a discussion with Nikol about his mechanical arm, which then leads to a Ship of Theseus kind of topic; replacing ones body parts with mechanical parts. Shulk would mention how terrifying such a concept would be for most people, but after recalling Fiora's past circumstances, assures that anyone with a strong enough will can remain themselves and do right by the things they hold dear, no matter what gets replaced. Something like that I guess 🤔 that's one other similarity I'm surprised not a lot of people mention; Shulk not only lost the use of his right arm like Dunban, he also part mechanical like Fiora once was, to a lesser degree of course. I'm also disappointed we STILL didn't get a photo of the XC1 cast like we did with the XC2 gang. You'd think they would have thought about showing something like that after all these months making the DLC 😢
So I get what you're saying within the context of 3. At the same time, Fiora's holistically had quite a bit of time between Project X Zone 2, Smash, and even her Xenoblade 2 DLC appearance.
@@AnimaLepton yes, though those are considered to be non Canon and/or fan service. Both her and Shulk's appearance in XC2's DLC doesn't have any impact on the overall story, nor could it make any sense if it tried; Shulk can't possibly be wielding Zanza's Monado while Fiora has a 100% Hom's body. Even those pieces of in game dialogue that suggests it's all taking place after the events of the first game couldn't convince me otherwise; there are just too many contradictions to count. I did enjoy the fact that Fiora is very OP as a Blade, even when compared to Shulk, though it was a missed opportunity not giving her a fun moveset based on her Mechon form. And of course they don't even bother explaining what they were doing before getting warped to the the land of challenges; they were just walking around and just happened to come across a portal. Admittedly I don't know much about Project x Zone, and i hesitate to delve deeper since I don't have much of a connection with most of the characters crossing over. However from the bits and pieces I've seen, I do know that they, at the very least, actually tried to make her appearance in the story make some kind of sense, even going as far as explaining when exactly in XC1's story she was teleported from her world. In some ways PXZ2 actually has more respect for her character than the actually Xeno series has since the first game ended; from some of the cutscenes i saw, I actually liked the dynamic between her and KOS-MOS.
Part of this makes me sad, though its not said straight out it heavily implied that Fiora and the rest of Shulks friends are dead, same for Rex and his friends minus Nia and Melia
I'd like to imagine that most of them are in origin's system for holding souls, which is what it was meant for. not to say people didn't die, but I feel like most of the cast from the other games ended up in origin's systems and just basically stayed there until we kicked Z's butt and let the process continue as it was intended. regardless, in a sense for XB3's plot, their physical forms are basically dead.
I kinda wonder about that. It's weird to assume that everyone died before the Endless Now started (before the world's started to merge), but if they were sucked up by the endless now and died afterwards, its possible that they'd still be alive after time started moving again (since we know for a fact that things got back go the exact point right before the world's merged at the end of XC3). I dunno, it's kinda vague.
They both are Chad's true heroes in every sense possible they embody what it means to not only be alive but love aswell. They entrusted their lives with their children because they believe in them and know they will come too them again one day. The timelines may be back to normal as of now but I do believe their will be more someday as for now monolith deserves a long rest they've worked sooo hard these last 10 years or so. And right now they've managed to keep so many of us around for these 10 years outta love for this franchise. They'll come back again when the time is right for sure.
