Betting that this will become a controversial ending, but everything in the game was leading up to this point thematically. Noah made the conscious choice not to stay in the endless now with Mio and instead walk on toward the future. It doesn't make for a feel-good ending but it drives the message of the game home.
It’s most likely that the dlc story will take place after the main game as the developer said that the future of the series relies on the ending of the game and the dlc. Also, the image of the expansion pass features all three of the main characters weapons, meaning that Shulk and Rex will probably appear. One last thing, Nia did say that she was going to see Rex again as well.
People are wondering if Eunie trolls Taion but think about the story for a hidden meaning...what does Eunie have a strong love of? Fortune Clovers. What number of best bud did she say Taion was? Yep the feelings are real!
And I love that this time , it's Eunie that is using her brain and taion being caught off guard by his feelings unlike they usually 😂 It makes this scene better! I love these characters sooo much 😢😢😢😢😢
Poppi showing up had me straight up SOBBING. then the gigachad picture was just slapped into my face. That was a rollercoaster of emotions😭 BEWILDERED. And just when I thought I’ve calmed down and just watching the worlds drift.. the running scene hits and I AM FLOORED..😭 never did I cry so much in my life!
I just finished this game a few hours ago and have been thinking about it for a while. Obviously I was super sad when I beat it because this games means so much to me, yet, I think the ending is absolutely beautiful. The idea of Ouroboros forming such a close bond with each other due to Moebius making it so, and then having to sacrifice that bond in order to let the world continue on is so tragic, yet it reflects the sacrifices we all need to make. I see so many people hoping desperately that they find a way back to watch other and obviously I want that desperately as well, but as the same time the fact that we don't know what happens beyond this point strengthens the idea that there are so many roads ahead of us, all of which we don't know the outcome, and we have to just walk on. Ouroboros have to walk on and hope they meet each other again, but they don't know. We don't know, and there's a beauty in that. We can't cling onto what we currently have and hope it lasts forever, just like I can't cling onto this game forever. We need to keep living.
I managed to get through the entire game without spoilers. And I have to say, after being a die hard Xeno-fan for the last 6 years, seeing this ending made me cry my eyes out. Seeing everyone from the games I've loved for a long time together, creating relationships, only for them to be ripped apart from each other, even if they knew that's what they were fighting for??? Makes me cry.
I didn’t expect that the worlds were going to split apart after time was restarted. I thought it was just that the future was uncertain after they fused and that’s why moebius stopped time. I was utterly heartbroken when I realised they were saying goodbye. I barely ever cry and them running against their worlds back towards each other got me. It’s a powerful message though, nothing lasts and you shouldn’t obsessively hold onto it. N and M desecrated the world order just to not have to part but it poisoned them, Noah and Mio broke their hearts by separating for the greater good. I’d love to freeze time and stay forever with my fiancé and daughter living together, but that isn’t possible and nor should it be. Time needs to march on, and we need to walk along with it until our time is up, but the world will keep going. And my time with this, the new best game ever, will come to an end. Just like it did with XC1, the former best game ever. And while that’s still another hundred or so hours away, it’ll hurt to put it away and move on, but I can’t just play it over and over forever… I really wish that they get to be together again after the DLC, but that wouldn’t be true to the message, so I don’t think they should. The post credit scene is a shred of hope, that’s much more fitting, even if it hurts. My bet would be the DLC is about the founders, N could be the final boss as he wrecks the city. Good to get this out my mind where spoilers don’t matter
To me it was a big Surprise because I always saw Riku as the one who knew more about everything (even more with the dlc that I still didn't played for the moment so don't tell me) than everyone and they were not a lot of hints of him saying that he loved Manana, even if he obviously cared. But it was the first time in the entire game that he was being emotional and he was *fully* emotional. So much that I would have find it funny if I wasn't that destroyed or concerns by that f*cking sad ending 😭
Im kind of sad that Triton was not shown in the ending. Even though he was Mobeius, it would have been nice to see a scene of him disappearing with a smile on his face.
“This…is the truth of our world. Memories melt in the morning light, and then, a new day begins. Roads stretch out before us. So many paths. Which do you choose? That’s up to you. Sometimes, you might run astray. You’ll stop, maybe cry in frustration. But, you know, that’s all right. For the roads… They go on without end. So look up, face forward, toward your chosen horizon… And just…walk on.”
9:17 i audibly yelled “POPPI!!!!” When i saw that. she probably was locked up so she couldn’t be used as a tool of destruction like she promised down in the land of moritha

@@soniatsui7606 If Triton was in the cycle before becoming moebius his younger self is probably somewhere in the separated worlds. If he was a part of the lost numbers (which is probably unlikely) he would not exist in the separated worlds. We don’t know yet.
I’d like to point out that poor Melia continues even well past the world of Bionis and Mechonis. She is kidnapped by Moebius, does not have any photos or memorabilia outside the Replica Monado EX+, and unlike Nia, does not have any of her friends still alive. And the one friend she does have (Nia), won’t even get to be with her that much longer as the worlds are going to reset once again, Say it with me class, POOR MELIA :(
Actually the parties of 1 and 2 are 100% alive still since nia says she gonna see the 2 gang again. And considering shulk built origin in 1s world and tora built origin in 2s they all alive still
Assuming the theory that Mio is nias daughter and the fact that time passes in both xc1 and xc2 in parallel, then it's safe to assume that the xc1 and xc2 cast are both still alive.
@@succman3318 I still dunno about that, Nia, Melia and Poppi would all naturally be extremely long lived. It's possible that the human and nopon characters would have all passed on, and blades would go when their driver went. Only the Machina and blade/flesh eaters would live that long.
I would say it was frustrating if it weren't for the very end. When they are all running toward each other, even Eunie who is usually all jokes drops all pretense and runs for her life toward the other group (Taion). I think that shows how she actually feels, that despite all the trolling and joking otherwise, she feels just as strongly about all of them (Taion), and is willing to give anything to see them again.
I dont know if people considered this for Taion being "the 4th best bud" but if you all remember, Eunie loves her Lucky Clovers, and clovers are usually three leaved. Essentially, its the three leaves of a clover that she loves a lot and then its Taion. She essentially teased that Taion is just as good as Lucky Clovers. Very funny and cute to think about if you remember certain details with these characters, which is what I love a lot about this game. This ending was very nice and it makes me hopeful that maybe xc4 (if it happens) that xc3 just continues and everyone tries to live together. Or maybe in the dlc even.
Waaw, usually, I like to think that theory *may* be true, but I think this one actually *IS* True! Or I really do hope because I don't have any other explanation and this line made me kinda upset 😂
Such a beautiful ending. I guessed it was something like the fusion of both XC1 and XC2 universe due of evil presence. And now it's required to seperate to recreate the two universe WAIT A MINUTE , DID REX HAVE KIDS WITH PYRAH , MYTHRA AND NIA!?
This trilogy is so awesome, i never thought anything could come close to the ending of xenoblade 1 but when i saw this ending i was speechless, what a masterpiece
Amazing game. Antagonists were fairly average, but gee, but in terms of how they were able to tell a story by connecting the worlds from the previous titles is just phenomenally insane. Also love how the shenanigans of XBC3 were even tied to Xenogears by way of XBC2 via Klaus and the conduit. Satisfying ending and should there be a new Xenoblade game (presumably after DLC), then they should just start afresh and leave it as a trilogy!
Melia and Nia's friends when time starts moving again: "Are you alright? You spaced out there for a second. Were you daydreaming or something?" Melia and Nia: "You have NO IDEA!" No joke though, I loved this ending and it was also really sad.
Literally just finished the game I mean the credits are literally still rolling. I’m in awe. What a journey man. Never has a game got me so emotionally invested in the characters. After 100 hours of journey with these characters and the ups and downs and quiet moments and funny moments and sad moments and I wanted them to be together in the end so badly but It just drove home the themes of change and moving forward so effectively Edit: my girlfriend passed away on the 31st of October. And now this games story and themes hit me just that much more. To the point it makes me sob. RIP Lizzie, I’ll always be waiting for you.
I’m in a similar situation although my girlfriend did not pass. She is chronically ill and infertile and cannot have sex so she broke up with me. All of those things were still not a problem for me as I truly love her and want her no matter what but she ended things with me because she feels she isn’t suitable for a relationship ever. Now here I am crying to xenoblade music everyday just waiting for my demise. My legacy has been taken from me so now I must sit in this world lonely without the love of my life. I still will probably see her a bit as we’re still friends but knowing she is terminally ill and that I can never have the future we prepared with eachother things will never be the same. Games like this and persona 3 help me through this. Stay strong man hopefully we will reap what we lost in the afterlife.
Overlaying the Xenogears ending song right when this one begins fits surprisingly well! Especially the "angel wings" lining up with Melia on the balcony and the final pan around the Keves group "we can run to the end of the world"
The characters running towards each other as the literal ground beneath their feet pulls them apart is probably the best visual I've seen in any peice of art ever.
This last cutscene is so emotional and very beautiful because it makes me sad and happy Seeing the sword belongs to Shulk back in Xenoblade Very happy to see characters from Xenoblade 2 So glad to see Rex marry Pyra, Mythra, and Nia then they have babies Rex is the lucky guy and becomes harem king Their world has become a part, and I hope they will meet again. 😢😢
This is by far my favourite cutscene in the game, with the kiss scene being my favourite moment! Any moment with Noah and Mio is just the best for me! I'm also gonna be pretty disappointed if they don't make a DLC where they all find each other again
you see that? and they said no need to play xenoblade 1 or 2 lol. if u jump straight to 3 then u wouldn't get hyped and excited to that rex harem reveal man.
Beautiful but sad ending. Lots of context from the rest of the game is missing to make sense of this & it's so early that even ppl who've beaten the game are discussing it on different sites & seem to be a bit confused as well. Hopefully the DLC or the next Xenoblade game after this will elaborate that the party DID find a way to reunite. Because as confusing as the end is (time reset? 2 or 3 worlds? Etc), many of the characters words imply that the worlds finding a way to meet again is a desired outcome. Call me sappy but I really hope so! I want a happy ending for these kids dang it 😂!
it does seem it implied everything was reset and the two worlds separated. Noah's side being from xb1's world and Mio's side being from xb2's world. my bet is that the story dlc we'll get probably will probably have them aiding the queens to figure out a way to travel between the worlds. but we could also just end up getting an adventure in either xb2 or xb1 areas as a possible story. either way, I do want to see what they do for story from now on, since it was said the xenoblade series would still carry on after 3.
@@gemanosian0451 considering we're getting a large story dlc, they're going to at least wrap it up fully with that. I'm not expecting them to continue it into another game, of course.
Basically when the 2 worlds are about to converge the endless now is created by Z and then after the events of XC3 everything is turned back, the worlds split again, time starts to move again and the characters return to their "original" lives devoid of any memories as if nothing happened. Although this doesn't mean the entirety of XC3 was meaningless or for nothing like a lot of people seem to think. A central theme in XC3 is that ephemeral things still have value and this complements the ending too because the fact that they will forget about everything and each other is exactly the point. Noah moves forward and chooses for free will and he made this choice knowing that his future won't be certain anymore, but despite that, this is the better alternative than living in an endless now and it also ends the cycle of war and suffering on Aionios. Noah hearing the flute melody can also be interpreted in different ways. Personally I thought it implied that Noah and Mio will find each other again but ig no one can 100% know what it truly means for now. But yh I thought this was a pretty complete ending so I hope I could clear up any confusion you may have.
Something I just noticed when Mio and Noah were saying they’d see each other again in The wide shot of the Agnus crew you can see Taion fall to his knees just so cool I noticed
As older I get shows and movies did make me just maybe get emotional slightly but nothing as much as this ending. Seeing everyone say their goodbye started getting me emotional, then the music hits, seeing the Manado REX and Poppi made me happy, seeing Noah's and Miu's final kiss made me tear up as they just start being pulled apart but I still held it in, but as they all start running towards each other just made me cry
"Change can be difficult, but that's how we grow. It can be the hardest thing to realise you can't hold onto something forever. Sometimes you have to let it go. But of the things you let go, you'd be surprised what makes its way... back to you."
It takes a lot to make a game or movie make me cry and this game seamlessly made a ending that no one can not cry. I thought chapter 5 was gonna be the worst of it then they had to throw this gut punch at us.
As much of a fucking gut-punch as this ending was and as BADLY as I wanted Noah and Mio to be together after all the went through... This was the right ending for the story they were trying to tell. God, this fucking game. THIS FUCKING TRILOGY!!! What Lord of the Rings was for me in movies, Xenoblade Chronicles is now for me in video games. Such a fantastic trilogy. Every time Nia and Melia came on screen, I got was on the edge of my seat. I start crying when Shulk's Monado appeared, and then when Poppi just popped out of that machine, I freaking LOST IT!
Wonder how Riku feels. He's fought alongside Ouroboros since the battle with Alpha many years ago. Almost everyone he knew is dead, and he ended the endless now with the new gen. Holding on to the wishes of all his deceased allies.
now i've played a lot of videogames in my lifetime. none of them had an ending as sad as this one. my heart hurts, but the characters did what they sought out to do. they gave me hope. hope that they'll see each other once more.
Personally, I absolutely love how the true ending of the Klaus Saga (with what I assume is based on everyone across all 3 games attempting to unite the worlds but correctly) was saved for an expansion after the base game as now I'm not only interested in seeing beloved characters from 1 and 2 but am also HEAVILY invested in seeing the Ouroboros gang reunite. It makes every game stand on its own as its own package and truly sets up the upcoming expansion as a massive climax worthy of concluding the first saga, Takahashi is a genius man.
I swear, every time I come back and rewatch this scene, it _never_ fails to make me cry. No shame in that, though, but fuuuuuuuuuck dude! Monolith, they all better reunite again in that DLC!

I could handle Noah and Mio, Eunie and Taion, the workout buddies, but just seeing the two little nopon just had me in tears. Please let them reunite in the dlc. I beg you Monolith.
I was at work and I was also fine (reasonably) until for some reason eunie called taion her best bud. The tears all ejected at once.
i just got here after watching the dlc trailer and
this is awkward
It actually is but folks are too stoned because of Noah and Mio
I honestly think this is an incredible ending. It’s so bittersweet in the sense that it perfectly captures the themes of change in reality.
People are wondering if Eunie trolls Taion but think about the story for a hidden meaning...what does Eunie have a strong love of? Fortune Clovers. What number of best bud did she say Taion was? Yep the feelings are real!
Genius.
Oh my god stop I didn't need to cry again 😭
Big brain moment
Fucking hell you just got me....
And I love that this time , it's Eunie that is using her brain and taion being caught off guard by his feelings unlike they usually 😂
It makes this scene better!
I love these characters sooo much 😢😢😢😢😢
Poppi showing up had me straight up SOBBING. then the gigachad picture was just slapped into my face. That was a rollercoaster of emotions😭
BEWILDERED.
And just when I thought I’ve calmed down and just watching the worlds drift.. the running scene hits and I AM FLOORED..😭 never did I cry so much in my life!
100% Rex is a spitting image of Addam when he became an adult, meaning his a descendant after all.
Truth.
Or... hear me out... he also reminds me of Malos lmao
Melia is back to being the only friendzoned character xD
She probably already out live most character in xb1.

@@nandreshiram2269 In that case, it'd be 3 times, because N and M sparked in one of the flashbacks to have that kid
And while that’s still another hundred or so hours away, it’ll hurt to put it away and move on, but I can’t just play it over and over forever…
I really wish that they get to be together again after the DLC, but that wouldn’t be true to the message, so I don’t think they should. The post credit scene is a shred of hope, that’s much more fitting, even if it hurts.
My bet would be the DLC is about the founders, N could be the final boss as he wrecks the city.
Good to get this out my mind where spoilers don’t matter
Great, now I’ll have to fetch that sword from the bottom of the sea in the next game.
I bet there won't be another one. The tale of Klaus' universes is told.
I believe the sword served its purpose much like in ys the oath in felghana.
The sword probably got erased from existence when the worlds get reconstructed and split apart
I dunno... after what we just found out, it'll probably be Shulk and Rex tryna salvage it.
Why do I feel the saddest for Riku and Manana
Because it was clear they were more than friends. Even if Riku would never admit it, he loved her just as much as Noah loved Mio.
"Guess we won't be working out together anymore" :(
What an absolutely GOATED trilogy in video game history.
I keep coming back to this vid even after I finished the game, its such a beautiful cutscene. Monolith just keeps getting better and better.
when rex said "I love you and all you guys" I guess he took it literally
That, and she was probably acting as the core of the machine that was feeding Nia info on the world while she slept.
Actually I dont think she was locked up but more instead powered down in a sleep state. Especially since the machine she's in looked a hella like poppi buster's face was somewhat on it.

Hey at least he got to help out with the final fight.
Joran is still here, so there is a good chance Triton is also alive
@@soniatsui7606 If Triton was in the cycle before becoming moebius his younger self is probably somewhere in the separated worlds. If he was a part of the lost numbers (which is probably unlikely) he would not exist in the separated worlds. We don’t know yet.
I’d like to point out that poor Melia continues even well past the world of Bionis and Mechonis.
She is kidnapped by Moebius, does not have any photos or memorabilia outside the Replica Monado EX+, and unlike Nia, does not have any of her friends still alive. And the one friend she does have (Nia), won’t even get to be with her that much longer as the worlds are going to reset once again,
Say it with me class, POOR MELIA :(
Actually the parties of 1 and 2 are 100% alive still since nia says she gonna see the 2 gang again. And considering shulk built origin in 1s world and tora built origin in 2s they all alive still
Think time resets back so they will both get to see their friends in XC1 and XC2.
@@SuperJacques96 until we know for certain, I’m gonna go with the poor melia haha,
Assuming the theory that Mio is nias daughter and the fact that time passes in both xc1 and xc2 in parallel, then it's safe to assume that the xc1 and xc2 cast are both still alive.
@@succman3318 I still dunno about that, Nia, Melia and Poppi would all naturally be extremely long lived. It's possible that the human and nopon characters would have all passed on, and blades would go when their driver went. Only the Machina and blade/flesh eaters would live that long.
Rex was one lucky bastard, LOL. This ending was reminiscent of Kingdom Hearts 1.
i know right
For me this was more emotional than KH
Eunie showed earliest romantic implications among the group and her making Taion confused until the end is both cute and frustrating.
Taion getting played it seems
@@sLasHeRxXx07 Eunie outsmarted his outsmarting
The running part had me sobbing at 4am. Good god not even XC2 made me bawl my eyes out like this
That brief moment when Sena breaks...
Lucky clovers have 4 leaves don’t they?
She doesn't love lucky clovers with three leaves, she loves FOURTUNE clovers, which have 4
Waaw, usually, I like to think that theory *may* be true, but I think this one actually *IS* True!
Or I really do hope because I don't have any other explanation and this line made me kinda upset 😂

Antagonists are amazing as a concept not so much as characters
I cried for about and hour and am still contemplating this ending to this day.

No joke though, I loved this ending and it was also really sad.
Literally just finished the game I mean the credits are literally still rolling. I’m in awe. What a journey man. Never has a game got me so emotionally invested in the characters. After 100 hours of journey with these characters and the ups and downs and quiet moments and funny moments and sad moments and I wanted them to be together in the end so badly but It just drove home the themes of change and moving forward so effectively
Edit: my girlfriend passed away on the 31st of October.
I literally keep coming back to this and cry every single time. Hands down one of my favorite games
