    The Japanese dub emphasizes the sense of hurt and betrayal. The English dub emphasizes the shattered mental state. It's always interesting how culture influences these directions.

      @doniarts 2 года назад +44

      I think you mean voice director not "culture" since at the end of the day its the voice directors job to help get the voice over artist to convey what's on screen so if anything one felt that this aspect was what they wanted to focus on, but at the end of the day tho its interesting to see how different voice direction can impact a scene. Also considering the game is Japanese the JP voice over track would not really be considered a "dub"

    • @theotherjared9824
      @theotherjared9824 2 года назад +57

      @@doniarts No, I mean culture. The director has to be inspired by something, and that often falls on comparable performances of the past. Japanese dubs often have a pleading and shouting tone, while western dubs have a softer, insane tone.

    • @doniarts
      @doniarts 2 года назад +4

      @@theotherjared9824 I see well I don't agree much on that but I see where you are coming from also again Its not a Japanese dub. Cause you would not say look at sponge bob square pants english dub right lol

    • @CammyMeeleTea
      @CammyMeeleTea 2 года назад +31

      @@doniarts No one wants to have to type out "original recording" when dub is three letters and everyone knows that that really means. It's like saying "Windex" to refer to any window cleaner, even when "Windex" is not accurate. From context, any normal person would give them the window cleaner, whether it is or is not windex, cause you know they're cleaning a window.
      In this situation, you know this person is talking about the how, the sound, the direction, and the culture of how people speak. We're talking about audio, it's an anime game, we know it's from Japan, obviously the Japanese audio recording.
      If you truly wish to be obtuse and pedantic about definitions: a dub comes from double, as in an audio double. So the act of recording a voice and putting it behind an animation, even for the first time, is still considered dubbing.
      If someone records audio for an anime in Japanese, in Japan, and the quality of one sentence is bad, and they insert a good take, that's a dub. So unless the Japanese game and voices were all done in real time in one take, the Japanese voices are a dub. Even if it was all done in one take, the Japanese dub, is a dub.

      they're both incredible in their field, this was definitely Harry McEntire's breakthrough though, in part due to having 2 years worth of recording under his belt now only for XC3, he was able to put it all in this character of Noah, mixed in with his experience with various different personalities on TV and videogames, he nails at giving Noah's voice a bigger impact
      Ryohei Arai also just hasn't played as big of a range of characters, they've both got a similar *amount* of characters though, that being said Arai played the character he was given exeptionally, and really gave McEntire a great personality to work with, he's just missing the range, but hopefully XC3 gave him the opportunity to really get that experience he needs to nail his range

    Henry McEntire did such a phenomenal job as both Noah and N. This whole section of the game hits you like a truck and he absolutely sells it.
    The way N's voice transitions from confusion, anger, shock, horror, and desperation in the span of 30 seconds is done so perfectly and makes me almost feel bad for him. However, nothing will ever top the end of chapter 5. Half an hour of desperation trying to save Mio, culminating in Noah watching Mio die at homecoming, and letting out one of the rawest screams I've ever heard.

It's very easy to see. Just pause the video every time N is talking and you can see his mouth animation is always identical on both sides. Also, when he laughes at 7:36, the animation is identical on both sides but it matches the faster laugh of the japanese dub.

      yes he was acting like a prick. But you can see he deeply cared for the others in Torna (the organisation).
      You also have to take note that it could've been Mythra/Pyra in his place had Amaltheus awakened her instead.
      In the end Malos was a villain of circumstances. Even as he died he was wishing it was Rex who awakened him and not Amaltheus. He's not just a sadistic prick. He's a flamboyant drama queen who was ultimately searching for his place in the world,and helped people who were broken beyond repair by said world.

    • @mrbubbles6468
      @mrbubbles6468 2 года назад

      I mean this game was all about making the protags overpowered for no reason so was it really that much of a twist?The only reason it’s dire is because characters were suddenly unable to break weak iron bars. Oh and Mio at no point told them anything, even when she could.

    • @eduuklee9453
      @eduuklee9453 2 года назад +9

      @@mrbubbles6468 yes this is absolutely a legit plot twist in the very sense of the word. Because Mio and Noah was linked by fate, they would allways find each other in every live cycle and mio would allways die. This is amazing because Mio survive for the first time by the help of M and finally overcome her fate. Mio and Noah are strong for a very good reason, they are born from feelings of remorse from two very powerful Moebius so its logical that they have the capacity to challange them. Nia the Queen of Agnus created a powerfull weapon named "Oroborus" and its strong for a very good reason, because it has the element of "change" . Moebius made the world stop and the only thing they fear is Oroborus because it can force the world to continue, ergo erasing all moebius because they can not exsist outside of the stasis D; also you are trying to say overpowered characters are something bad??
      Because Mio couldnt save them, she had to wait when they come outside for the execution. and if M told them the story it would destroy Noah, he would probably go nuts D; so M and Mio keep a secret..

    The Japanese voice sounds like a man who's incredibly frustrated, infuriated, depressed, mourning, all of it at the same time. And beyond it, disbelief. He's angry and in despair. The gravel in his voice, the desperation in his words, someone who's sheer force and power couldn't undo the choices that were made.
    The English voice sounds like someone who's snapped. Almost aloof, only being able to accept the truth because it's in front of his eyes. He's beyond accepting what's happened, and only feels the despair of it all. Frustrated, to be sure. But to what extent? Whatever it was, it was enough to shatter his mind and heart both.
