Saw a dog handler stopping a dog from excessive barking outside. He had a small tin with a few marbles inside. He would just gently throw it so that it landed near the dog. The sound startled the dog into temporary silence. This would be followed by him approaching the dog and saying a stern ‘no’.

I trained my dog from the beginning with the ‘enough’ word. It works for everything from barking to digging holes in the yard. Once that word was imprinted in his brain, he understood that the action was not acceptable. He was also such a jumper when I got him at age 1,5 years and catching the bad behavior right from the start is very important. From watching Augusto’s vids, it seems that it’s mostly the owners who need the training. The dogs catch on quickly, it’s the owners that need to enforce the commands that he shows them. I would like to see Dog Daddy return to visit many of the dogs and see if the owners have kept up the training. That would be interesting!

I would train their dog perfectly and then they wouldn't follow or repeat any of the training and within a month the dog was back to normal.
I spent way too much time arguing w the owners cus their egos were more important than their dogs health and wellness!

I have been training other people's dogs off and on for a few years and I had a real "AHA" moment about my own confidence while watching your videos. I hadn't been letting myself interrupt the owners to show them a better way, even though I knew a better way. Now I find I just can't resist taking charge of situations. There is something inexplicably rewarding about being confident from experience and compassion and implementing it with dogs. The relief of dogs finding respect for people and other dogs is such a great thing.
Nothing beats showing the owners the right way, even if it means disrupting their expectations a little. There is no joy in 'being right', just in knowing that sometimes it is o.k. to take charge for the betterment of all.

Our husky siblings are now 6yrs old. The only issue I've never been able to resolve is their vocalization when leashing up for a walk. I'd love to be able to take them @ sunrise, but they are so loud it is just not possible .. I'll take any advice any wants to give on how to convince them they don't have to alert the neighborhood they going for a walk 🤣

    • @dianecleary1054

Try stop. You must use your voice like a whip. You strike them with the tone of your voice. It's not shouting. It's a serious command strong snap crack your voice like a whip. You are saying I am the top dog . I am the leader of the pack so listen to me. They will then accept your dominance and follow your command.
I arrived home once to three dogs who went into a frenzy of barking. I allowed it for five minutes because they are expressing themselves. Then I then with a strong voice said stop. They instantly stopped my neighbours were amazed. Then I tenderly with a soft voice I patted them on the head and said good boy very good. So they get a reward and the soft voice triggers them to calm down. Or you could get them to sit and you could get low next to them to help them calm down.
