+Chow Chow I would even take it the start time a bit earlier to 0:37. That part going in to 0:47...amazing. Yes, Alan Menken ROCKS!!!! Little piece of my childhood right here.
has anybody seen the new SW attraction? Imagine one as immersive but using this songs and music, explaining Disney's history...I would probably die from goosebumps
I love the soundtrack for The Little Mermaid. It's so beautiful and calming. If you close your eyes, it really makes you feel like you're a part of that world. Pun intended, lol.
I can't help but notice that Disney seriously delivers like a boss when it comes to music. Like all those vocal songs are usually hits, but they equally deliver in terms of beauty and quality in the music going on behind that. I just discovered this beautiful world of Disney scores... And I love it
I love Alan Menken's music so much The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and I'm so glad that they brought Alan to redo the score the the new upcoming Disney live action film Beauty and the Beast with Emma Watson❤️❤️
hve you seen the new SW attraction? Imagine one as immersive but using music like this...probably I would die from goosebumps, it would be a great death to be honest
The beginning of this movie has always been one of my favorites when it comes to disney movies. The music gives you that mystical feeling of being in the ocean, of swimming with the fish, slipping through the coral. But there's something even greater there, and you get that sense from the music- like there's something even more... magical- creatures that you only thought were of myth and legend suddenly appear, and it feels like a great big breath. This beginning score has always been my fav. :]
Something about this track is so... incredible. It's magical, yet whimsical. It's beautiful, yet adorable, like Ariel herself. It sounds like a Broadway song, without lyrics. It sounds like Disney rising from the ashes like a phoenix and spreading its wings, allowing them to fly higher than they did before. Something about this song is so magical, and so Disney. Perhaps this is a reason why Ariel is my favorite Disney princess.
BookLooms omg me too, you should listen to this while watching the royal wedding (Meghan Markle walks down the aisle ) I literally started crying and said wow it’s literary a princess happily ever after !
Same. I was born on the day that it released in theaters (11/17/89), so as odd as it seems, I feel a sort of connection to the film. It holds a special place in my heart.
I envy each and every member of the orchestra playing this masterpiece. I used to play violin, and I was the part of the music school's orchestra, and I know the satisfaction when you hone the composition and play it right, live. I can just imagine the joy when the orchestra played this piece in "full". It has these wonderful long notes, it's not very complicated, but sounds like the magic itself. A real treat for one's ears and soul. If I could pick the moment in history to be part of, playing this with the orchestra for the cartoon would be somewhere on the top of my bucket list.
There is something so...magical, something...beautiful and wonderful about this score of the opening title for The Little Mermaid. Indeed Alan Menken is a musical genius for composing this amazing score for one of Disney's most lovable and beautiful princess characters in history. I can't believe after all these years, I still feel the flow of pure nostalgia listening to this song every time I hear it. It's so soothing and wonderful to hear everytime. When it starts off, you hear the flute playing the solo, it's wonderful, then you hear the voices of the chorus humming softly and then you hear the voice of Ariel's heavenly singing voice joining with the chorus and the orchestra. Gosh, it's truly amazing. When you hear this song for yourself, it takes your breath away and makes you feel like you're in the world of the deep blue sea, swimming with the fishes, soaring through the waters and then finding yourself in the world of Mermaids. You could imagine yourself swimming alongside Ariel in her world and loving the deep blue sea, but also loving the land she lives on as well. There is so much more to say about this song, but not enough time to say it all. This masterpiece of a song will never get old, it's a timeless and beautiful piece of music for any Disney fan who grew up watching this movie.
"Three years ago, we took you on a magical journey under the sea... Last year, we took you to a place where a beautiful girl looked into the heart of a Beast, and found the man of her dreams..." Whenever I hear this theme, I always think of that part from the Aladdin trailer.
the music from 0:03 to 0:13 is what makes me crazy for this. I wish someone would tell me more about the story behind this particular composition ... its been my favorite since i came around to watching the movie for the second time in the late 90s.
I agree, you could tell right there that this would be a classic film, it's still my favorite Disney movie of all time. Part of your world was also perfect.
I once went to a live concert of The Little Mermaid. Seeing and hearing this performed live made me cry like a child, it's so beautiful I can't express it with words, the song tells it all with music
Let’s all just take a moment to imagine the live action showing the ocean with all it’s majestic fish, wales, jellyfish and so many other mesmerizing animals and then... all of sudden the merpeople start to swim towards Atlântica to join King Triton, Sebastian and all the sea orchestra 😍🧜🏻♀️🐬🌊🐠. Can I dream with that ❤️?
This is one of my favorite films, and actually I think that every Disney fan should love this film, not only because how wonderful it is, but also because it started the path that Disney have been following since its reléase. It was the flm that created the ''Disney way'' of making the films, and you can find a lot of element of this film on new films such as tangled, moana or even frozen (quick examples) I can only say thank you to this film
OMG one of my favoriest child movies. 🙂 I love this movie so much. Saw it at the first time with my sister on VHS. What a childhood. Begin at the 90s....this time will never come back....The Soundtrack of this movie was so great...still mean the soundtrack of the old version (1989) not the updated version...
This score is absolutely gorgeous. It’s so magical and impactful. It’s like something that would play in your head if you saw a mermaid for the first time.
0:47 is when a mermaid first appears onscreen. And Alan Menken is a genius.
And Howard Ashman
