Hats off. Alan Menken will forever be Disney's legend. Respect.
What would Disney be without him? not as good as it is a guess..
What about Howard Ashman?
@@powerpuff_avenger Mythological.
He's gonna return for the remake
I’ll be humming this almost every day
We need something like this again.
Not just good for the kids of today, or to fit the present, but to be in people's heart forever.
We did with Frozen but it was overrated as all shit. But then again Moana was actually very good only not overrated so we do.
I agree
Totally agree
Your wish has come true!!!
If you need it you may start creating it. We luck of work like this today, I agree. But if we really need art or thought that will inspire and last forever, we may become those creative people. We should try at least.
I'm 26 years old and this still gives me shivers every time! :'-)
Oh hell yeah! I'm with you! I'll be listening to this till I die! Love this too much. ( like there's a thing as loving this stuff too much)
Charlotte Hancocks Me too! I have tears in my eyes right now! It's so transcendent, like seeing angels and ascending to heaven.
+Andrew Todaro I'm listening again with tears in my eyes too!
I'm with you
you should hear it live...the broadway version is so magical
0:48 this music still slaps until this day. Between this, the lion king and beauty and the beast they really knew how to make you feel like you were in for something special right from the begining
I was about to say, this and Lion King intro were my favourites. Something about the music is so moving, and gives you that overwhelming (but in a good way) feeling
Don't forget hunchback
Thank you for the time stamp that’s why I’m here lol
@@PunchingPuffins yes
At 0:47 when the music gets very loud i always get chills idk why 😂
Wow... That's pretty unexpected...
Gives me goosebumps every single time...
Sameeeeeeeeeeee
Alan Menken is a genius, the combination of instruments is incredible.
same!
The score to this movie is phenomenal, it gives me chills, Disney needs to make a little mermaid ballet with this music, just like how the used the original sleeping beauty ballet music in the movie.
This music means a lot to me... like when I hear it I can really feel that happy disney feeling inside me. Thank you Alan Menken, for bringing this music to the world
I could so get married to this!
Sameeeeeeeeeeee
If u mean playing this while getting married then same here!
Don't mean to brag, but years ago, my sister did just that, she dreamt it and got it
Someone make a two hour version of this
0:48

That moment.....
the most beautiful song of disney.
I agree
Tottaly
This and “This Land” from the Lion King
For me: The best disney Princess and best disney movie ❤️ Love Arielle
No
whoever got emotional hearing this press like
I got emotional and I pressed the like button
Tears are pooling in my eyes from pure nostalgia 🥺
I need a bucket.
Yup. The irony of my first name being "Eric" and my wife's middle name being "Arielle" is never lost on me. She's the one who introduced me to this masterpiece of a film. We BOTH get emotional over this song.
I want to never stop listening this song !!
Same here
Sameeeeeeeeeeee
Yeah me too
And suddenly, I'm six years old again.
I feel ya buddy
So say we all ;___;
This is how Disney Renaissance began !!
Absolutely right. That era which started with “The Little Mermaid” would ultimately conclude with “Fantasia 2000.” But there were several other milestones from that era:
• “Beauty and the Beast” received 6 Academy Award nominations, including the historic nomination for Best Picture of the Year.
• “The Lion King” became the highest grossing cel animated film ever made.
• Disney & Pixar created the first computer animated feature, “Toy Story.”
And there were many more.
i get chills everytime i hear it
When the mermaids and mermen appear, I get the goosebumps.
everytime i hear that song i want to cry so many memories
There’s something incredibly special about this Disney movie
This movie here is what kicked off the famed “Disney Renaissance” era in a HUGE way! From 1989-1999, we got an entire DECADE full of magic, music & heartfelt memories still cherished to this day! ❤️
I want this to be the song I walk down the aisle to
Me too!
OMG same thought I've always had!
Omg me too! I’ve already planned my wedding! :)
The original story this animation is based on is so dark that it gets you kinda depressed.
Glad Disney changed it.
Me neither, why darkness should be depression? There’s no good or bad, there’s just, life and that’s what makes the original story rich and sincere
Archlord Angel
yes, she chose death over murdering her love interest.
@@ir8free in the original she even jumps off the ship and she dissolved into foam and became a "Daughter of the Air"
@@Angel_Of-Death also her tongue gets cut out
I. Cried. This is the kind of music that Disney needs to return. Not gonna lie, I love today’s music from them, but these are the OG tunes. It gives me chills every single time and that Disney Magic feel.
*sniff* I'm not tearing up. YOU'RE tearing up.
This gave me chills as a child, and still does. So beautiful ❤
Exactly the same
This hits me really deep in the heart.. Not saying tht the Disney Princess movies r bad now, but i still think the old ones r better than the recent ones 💗
I agree. The recent Disney princesses don't have the same feels at the opening as they do with this movie.
I agree. The 20th century era of this is the best part especially the little mermaid.
AGREED!!!!!!! There’s nothing wrong with falling in love!!!!
Agreed
This was literally the beginning opening of the Disney Renaissance
I will always love the original Disney movies. Great music, great characters and gives me an amazing feeling of nostalgia.
love the heavenly choir in it
Even though 32 years have passed since the film debuted, it still hasn’t lost its magic. I mean Jodi Benson is still voicing Ariel to this day!
Thus marking the start of the Disney Renaissance as well as the end of Disney movies that came out in the 80s
Kevin Broderick it’s 1989 which is also correct
This makes me 10 years old again watching this movie on it's original release date in 1989 😍
I'm 25, and this score still gives me goosebumps AND puts a smile on my face!
I’m a boy and find nostalgia out of this,
Is that bad?
No, it's good! 😊
lol I guess not.
Nope, not at all. Little Mermaid and other Disney movies can be seen by anyone.
I’m an adult male and The Little Mermaid was a childhood film of mine. Still love it.
I’m a male and I enjoy this movie a lot.
An overwhelming heart warming feeling when I hear this -3 This is my favorite movie of all time, it always brings me back, i always feel like I'm 4 years old again :3
Alan Menken. Best composer ever
He’s definitely Disney’s best.
I love The Little Mermaid and I am looking forward to the Diamond Edition!
this theme always gives me chills!! my favorite Disney movie since I was 6 years old!!
This and older Barbie songs are perfect for weddings 😭🙌🏼
I wonder how this scene would look like in live action...
Like utter crap.
Took those words outta my mouth!
Bad Like how they RUINED Circle of Life will they Ruin this pretty sure
I was 7 years old when I watched this movie, now I'm graduating college and I still love it so much that it makes me want cry & wish I was a child again.
Me too! 7 years old. The music is magical
I was 5 when it came out in 1989 and saw it in the big screen :)
This always gives me chills, is so beautiful!
Originals and old Disney movies are always the best
0:46 gives me goosebumps every time...
So beautiful and majestic... wish I could find some way to put this on repeat for when I'm drawing.
Best disney movie
And it still beats the crap out of Frozen, but sadly Frozen is the most popular.
@@canadavatar true.
This makes me cry every time I can't 😭
If you need just listen and cry 🤗😙🙃
This has to be THE MOST BEAUTIFUL original piece for an animated cartoon ever!!!!!!!!!! This is my fav movie of all time ♥
Alan Menken actually won the Academy Award for his score to the film as well as sharing the Award for Best Song (“Under the Sea”) with Howard Ashman.
All the more reason I want to be a marine biologist :D
Me too!
0:48 here come the tears
I so want this theme to be my wedding music!
Undeniably “one” of the most magical themes in any Disney movie. There’s a lot of good ones of course but this one has a special place, it matched a hidden world underneath the waves of the see.
thank i was looking for JUST this ^^
The Little Mermaid has been my favorite movie for my whole live, nothing better than it.
An amazing masterpiece even today
You can feel the magic.
i'm 29 years and i m crying ♥
Everytime I hear this theme I always cry it’s so beautiful and makes me want to be a kid again watching this for the first time
the music at 1:05 has such a nostalgic feeling for me that tears well up in my eyes and makes me want to be a little kid again :(
One of those moments... I'm 18 years old and haven's watched this movie in a long time. I heard this and so many memories I didn't even knew I had came flooding back. Like a piece fit back into my mind that had been gone for so many years.
Thank you, so much.
I hope God plays this theme for me if I get to go to Heaven.
Omg I can cry just because of the nostalgia. It makes me so happy to listen to this song and dream. We need more this type of songs for upcoming movies
She's out there somewhere......
this song makes me so happy :'(((( :'))))))
One of my favorites songs in the world is this one. I forgot about it until now though. Thank you so much for reminding me of it :)
I heard that this movie saved Disney's life because they're about to be shut down by the parents who are complaining about their kids crying after seeing the Black Cauldron which is a dark film
This was my first Disney movie. I don't remember how old I was but, I was born the same year it came out. ^^
im in love with this song
This and the original 1950 Cinderella=perfection
God makes me feel like i am 5 years old again and remembering seeing in the big screen in 1989. it felt so magical
I feel like this is the music that will be playing when you get to heaven!
they play in at the beginning of the little mermaid show in Hollywood studios..love it :)
we're having a "the little mermaid play" i'm the narrator, thus what is going to play in the background!
This song is so beautiful that whenever i listen to it it reminds me of my childhood
Uncontrollable tears😥 specially at 0:48...
Alan Menken is best composer hands down
He’s definitely the best one from Disney.
My favorite princess !!!😍😍😍
Nostalgia 😢 this isn’t even one of my favorite movies, but I still kind of like it though. This music brings back a lot
Going to Disney in two weeks for my 30th birthday/my sons 5th birthday. I haven’t been since I was 13, and this will be his first trip. These movies were and still are a huge part of my life, and listening to this made me tear up. Fingers crossed we have a great trip and I hope he grows up loving Disney like I did. ❤️
this music make me feel life
goosebumps at 0:47 !!
When I listen to the music from the beginning, it makes me want to think about the loss of Ben Wright (1915-1989).
We also lost several others from this film including:
• Kenneth Mars: King Triton (1935-2011)
• Buddy Hackett: Scuttle (1924-2003)
• Samuel E. Wright: Sebastian (1947-2021)
• Paddi Edwards: Flotsam/Jetsam (1931-1999)
• Rene Auberjonois: Chef Louis (1940-2019)
• Kay Nielsen: Visual Development (1886-1957)
• Kelly Asbury: Visual Development (1960-2020)
• Joe Ranft: Storyboard Artist (1960-2005)
&
• Howard Ashman: Producer/Lyricist (1950-1991)
This beautiful song reminds me my childhood, my favourite film ever! Still gives me shivers! :’) btw, how’s hearing it on 2020 during the quarantine time?
It's funny, I recently rewatched this movie on Disney+, and I said to myself "Holy crap, I REALLY like this movie". It's amazing how interests can be revived like this. In fact, this may be in my personal Top 5.
I can imagine myself arriving at the ocean whenever I hear this beautiful piece of music! I absolutely love Disney so much!
I remember when this movie came out. I was 9 years old. This brings back really good childhood memories!!
Live action 2023 movie
DO NOT RUIN THIS ANIMATED CLASSIC!
I’m sorry to say but they did
I always cry when I hear this song, especially from 0:47 :)
I imagine this being a character of mine's entrance to the prom.
Wreck It Ralph anyone??
You mean Ralph breaks the internet?
Ursula gave me recurring nightmares as a kid and yet this is one of the few movies that feels genuinely magical
i love this kind of music its so pretty and magical idk it just has something to it MAGIC!
This is too nostalgic 😭😭😭😭
LOVE THIS MOVIE
Always reminds me my childhood.
Love this
This is what plays when a soul makes it to heaven
