The 2nd hulkout while flying the plane is one of the best
I remember Brandon Cruz in The Bad News Bears
Watching David land the disabled plane while transforming was so well done. Laughed when the control tower person helping David land the plane kept telling David, STAY IN CONTROL.
No doubt inspired by all the Airport disaster movies of that time.
speaking of Airplane, our nervous passenger was also in that.
My heavens! I'd forgotten this episode shows up this early in the series!
I like the way David held it all in when he was transforming into the Hulk
Ed Peck, who played Captain Brandes in this episode, was better known for playing Officer Kirk on nine episodes of "Happy Days".
😎
Hi, Dave! Fun fact: the exterior shots of the 747 in flight were stock footage from the 1975 disaster film "Airport 75" with Charlton Heston. Gotta save money when you're working on a budget! Have a "Hulky" day, Dave!

This might possibly be my favorite episode of the entire series. It hits hard from the late 1970s; the "passenger has to land the plane" with the King Tut Exhibit (which I saw in Los Angeles). The episode also had Brandon Cruz in a nice guest role. His character may not have been a pilot, but he knew how the controls were laid out which made him useful, unlike some kid tagalongs.
They even had a good reason for the Hulk landing the plane, and since the tower controller couldn't see that a giant green guy was behind the controls, so, blissfully unaware, helped the Hulk stay in control but direct him in how to use his strength to save the plane. Kevin was mostly confused as to where the big green guy came from, which is a whole lot better than the usual terror response. It's a complete win for the pilot on the radio, Kevin, and the Hulk. The aircraft took some damage, but it's better than barbecuing 300 passengers and crew, not to mention destroying priceless treasures of Tutankhamun. That would be a major diplomatic issue between the US and the Egyptian government, and Lloyds of London or whoever insured those pieces on the US tour wouldn't take the financial beating they'd be hit with if they had to pay the claims.
I like the epilogue. I'm going to speculate that the passengers mostly kept quiet, even if they did read Jack's coverage of the Hulk. I know if I was on a plane and found Bigfoot and Elvis landed it in an emergency, I wouldn't talk to a reporter about it. Even if I was called before a senate subcommittee hearing on the matter, I'd hire the best lawyer I could to quash the subpoena, or only answer questions based on her advice. I'm very fond of my freedom, and don't want to be hounded over what I saw, or spend time in the booby hatch.
LOL! I loved your epilogue! Oh and I thought I recognized the captain trying to talk David down; it was Ed Peck. He's in the funniest episode of "Barny Miller," the one with the hash-filled brownies!
Having had some experience flying planes ( small single engine), I felt I should point out that there is a small error in the instructions David is given. When on approach to landing an aircraft, you do not pull back on the stick to level out your flight path. It may seem a bit backwards, but you use the throttle to control your descent rate and the elevator/stick to control airspeed. Pulling back on the stick increases the angle of attack and increases drag. You are not flying much over stall speed, so just pulling back on the stick could end up putting you into a stall, which is is something you don't want to do until just prior to touchdown.
Surely you cant be serious?
Of course I'm serious.... and don't call me Shirley
