VFL 1985 Grand Final Sprint - Geoff Ablett (St.Kilda) won

Footage from the 1985 Grand Final between Essendon and Hawthorn. The Grand Final sprint was won by Geoff Ablett for the 4th time although it looked like Michael Kol won. The winner was announced after the ad break where Geoff Ablett did a lap of the ground in a car.

Mighty close but in an interview with the Sunday Press newspaper (29-9-1985), Ablett confirms that he held on to win by the barest of margins. Previous year the roles were reversed when it was Ablett making the late lunge at the line but St Kilda's Doug Cox crossed the line first.
