4:15 I started taking my son to anime conventions here in Northern California when he was 10. So 2005. We live in the mountains and he had a good dedicated group of friends who liked anime. Start watching when he turned me on to Death Note and Priest. I can't tell you how much money I spent on making and buying cosplay for him and his friends for SacAnimeCon. In high school he and his friends started their own club called the Nerd Herd. He and his best friends wanted to be astrophysicists so their physics teacher was head of the club. I've always been very happy my son is a great person who has great taste in art is an amazing 28 year old now.
My second fav thing about this podcast other than the podcast is reading the comments before I even watch it and being so confused and then reviewing them afterwards and understanding perfectly
I have an anime bingo card for when me and my husband watch anime. Weird brother and sister dynamic? Harem? Protagonist is saving the world without magic with a sword? I have so much fun filling it out as we watch😂
God the talks about anime make me think about how I was ashamed to watch sonic X as a kid 😂😂😂 I was like in first grade at the time? And that was in 2010 give or take. Even in 2010, it was still not accepted 😂 But as I got older- like even when I was 11- got into it with a friend and that shit was the best ❤
Baby will be knocked out from the nipple tears and we will be watching House MD and I will look down and see the infant watching Hugh intently. Is like she knows that she isn't allowed to watch tv until minimum 2 years old, so she steals every moment she can.
I do not like anime but literally 99% of my friend do. I’ve watched attack on titan, Naruto, jjk, demon slayer, death note and a few more niche ones that friends recommended to me for my more niche interests. My biggest issues come from the over explaining. I’m a big believer in “show don’t tell” in movies and tv and i anime tends to tell then show exactly what they just said and that’s extremely boring to me. Plus all of the stuff yall mentioned i personally cannot watch a show w children being sexualized i will turn it off if i see loli being horny for a split second😂 all of this to say what are some good anime’s that don’t have so much exposition, no lolis, and generally just the least amount of horniness you can find?
@@AnnavaYeah I tried really hard to get into Sailor moon and similar shows, I watched Kiki's Delivery Service the first time. Amazing. Now Im really into a combination of that and older Shonen. Like I would KILL for Inu Yasha. And Howl's Moving Castle.
I grew up with anime like Akira, ghost in the shell, ninja scroll, and the animated spawn series. I was used to the hyper vionelt over sexualized themes of anime in 90s so when Pokemon came out I i found it very underwhelming.

I jumped through a lot of dangerous hoops as a kid just for a little bit of bud. I'm so thankful I can just go to the fucking God damn dispensary.
I misread your message as meaning Bud Light and I was like damb.... times really were hard back then

My top 2 must have ipod songs were always Evil Angel by Breaking Ben and Im Blue by Blue Man Group!
I remember the x rated sailor moon and dragon pink...that you had to rent from hastings on vhs. It was amazing.

Anime always had a place in black and Latino communities, you could find plenty of anime nerds in the hood talking about DBZ or Naruto
Dude looks like he listens to jazz then breaks out in a crimp.

Try Ghibli's movies. My favourite is Princess Mononoke. The ones you watched are shonen, which is its own sub genra.
