As for Anime, I was lucky in that I grew up in Nippon (Japan). The list of the ones I love is too long to be an interesting read, but I always recommend Hellsing Ultimate, Ghost In The Shell, Witch Hunter Robin, and Black Lagoon. I have always liked Anime and Manga as the stories are so much creative than Western comics.
