I'm from Castile and i've never expected that Castile Soap was popular 😂. In the rural areas everyone has it, all hand made. My grandmother is still doing it every summer.
I've been using Dr. Bronner's for years and I like it, but I only use it on the "holy Trinity" as Caroline Hirons would say (pit-pit-fanny), plus my feet. I've tried it on my hair (short, fine, pixi cut) and it's not terrible but not amazing. I like the tea tree best but the unscented one for babies works fine too. It's way too drying for the face but works fine for a musty armpit.
I have the Dr. Bronner's soap. I've never used it on my body though. I use it to gently clean my makeup brushes/sponges and it also works great to clean out sinks. They sparkle like no other if you clean with Dr. Bronner's.
Sounds like a great cleaning product!
Yep, I use Castile soap in shower and I make my own hand liquid soap with it. Get a glass pump dispenser ( got mine at Target ) Fill with 70 % water then add Castile soap and Thayers witch hazel 30 % . You can change ratios to your personal liking .
I like that tip about diluting it & putting it in a nice glass dispenser. Dilemma becomes escaping target with just the dispenser, and not $100 worth of "$1" spot, lol!
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha so true! I feel your pain. I avoid target for that reason. I went in target for a CD player and came out with the glass dispenser. Hahahahahahaha
DHC oil cleanser I believe is based on an olive oil base, and when water is added it emulsifies. Oil based cleansers are fantastic at removing not only make-up, but also sunscreen residue.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!
Good to know! thanks for the tips!
Flavia I when I don't have money for a cleansing balm I use any oil, like coconut or olive oil, to disolve my sunscreen and any makeup. It works really well and is the only thing that seems to get waterproof sunscreen off easily. Nothing with mineral oil.
I use the Majestic Pure (I think that's the name...its majestic something) castor oil on my lashes and also applied all around my orbital bone nightly. I've noticed a definite difference. It does work. I got it off the Amazonian ;-)
Wow! That is so cool to hear!! thanks for the tip :)
Dr. Bronner's Castille Soap for baby unscented is my favorite bady wash. It lathers wonderfully and feels so good; not drying at all. I have very pale sensitive skin and Dr. Bronner is non irritating.
I have oily/acne prone skin and I credit Dr.Bronner's peppermint soap bar for helping me overcome my cystic acne! I always wondered what you would say about them because of the essential oils in them.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin that's also acne-prone?
So I've recently started using Dr. Bronners peppermint bar soap on my face, normally I just use it on my body, but I swear its saving my skin. I have dry acne prone skin, it's starting to clear up nicely. I use the bar soap first, then wash with cetaphil gentle cleanser, and finish off with neutrogena gentle moisturizer. Doing wonders for me.
Do you still use it ?
@@gioplease6848 I had to stop using it, it eventually caused some dryness. Right now im using cerave sa cleanser at night and then I rub in vitamin e oil. Ive been doing this for a few months and its really helped my acne with no side effects as of yet.
What is your opinion on African Black Soap (authentic, not the solid black bars usually seen in stores)?
African black soap is made from oils and ashes of agro wastes (derived from cocoa, palmfruits, ground nuts, & sorghum), as well as vegetable oils like shea butter and palm oil. It has a very alkaline pH. Despite enthusiasm for this soap, there are no scientific studies to support or refute its efficacy for any dermatologic condition
I've been using Dr. Bronner's soap (liquid - not bar) since Jr. College, so for 44 years. I've tried all the scents and my favorite is Tea Tree. I find the Peppermint to be somewhat irritating, but none of the others. I've never used it on my face. I've tried other soaps over the years but have always come back to Dr. Bronner's soap. I use the Jamaican Black Castor oil purchased on Amazon on my brows and lashes. It works SO well, you have to be VERY careful where you put it or else you have hair growing where you don't want it. Hugs from Cindy, still binge-watching....
interesting about castor oil...no data to support that but i hear it alot in the comments
I figured that was the case. Go figure....
Yes - that is the castor oil that I use. I bought an 8oz bottle from iHerb years ago - given that I only use it on my lashes a smaller bottle would have done me just fine. On the Dr Bonners - I have used the Eucalyptus scent in the past - which I found drying but put up with it (used extra mositurizer) because I loved the scent. Have a great day!
You guys are really on to something here with the castor oil it sounds like!
ty Dr Dray I so appreciate that u give drug store products recommend. so many utubes push expensive stuff I just cant afford nor fathom the point of $50 for cleanser or moisturizer
$50 is a grocery bill..not a face wash, lol! glad you are enjoying!
Heck yeah that's what I say ty again for u thoughts
I use dr bronner's for body wash, shampoo, and face wash (I use the unscented for this last one). I love it. Since my skin is sensitive to sulfates, it's a good true soap to use. I don't see a problem in using things like dawn dish soap to wash dishes, or laundry detergent, but those have limited to no contact to skin (especially if you wear dish gloves or use a dish brush while washing dishes). Sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates are really good for washing off oils. But they irritate my skin and can make my excema worse.
Yes, I use Castile soap. It's gentle and does not irritate whatsoever. You can wash your entire body with it and wash your hair with it. Washing hair with it adds lots of volume.
thanks for sharing
I would absolutely love a video on your journey with eczema. It would be so very beneficial to so many people. Love all your videos and advice. Thank you a billion times for sharing your knowledge 🙏
Dr. Dr. Spread the word - it may be time for you to write a book. Life style changes are necessary with me, I believe you may have a path worth following.
Thank you so much!! So happy to hear you enjoyed this and hope you are having a great night.
I use jamaican black castor oil I purchased off the Amazonian ;). It's great and totally works to grow eyelashes! I apply it with a tiny little Elf concealer brush before bed every night.
I use castile soap and certain oils to remove make up and wash my face. I love it!
Dr Dray , trust me you will be an unreachable star in no time , I hope you will remember us when you get there ( I know you are almost there you are the best skin Dr. so kind and helpful and genuinely concern to human all over the world. Thank you and may God Bless you more) I wanna give the credits to your mom for bringing the best Dr and you tuber on earth to help us and inspire us. Btw my name is the last 3 letters of your name ;-) good night Dr Dray hugs....love from Spain •♡•
Thank you so much and hope you are having a great day!
Dr Dray hi dr Dry I love your posts I really need your help actually I was on accutane one year ago but now after one year I start minor breakouts and a lot of blackheads I want ask can I use differine ? And which cleanser and moisturiser I should use please help me am scared I don't want to see my face looks same like before
reviewunboxing es did u get my comments? Actually I did fist time comment on RUclips
been using castile soap for yearsss. yay dr bronners! I didn't quite like it in the beginning but I think it's okay!
your skin is flawless!
Aww thank you so much!!! Hope you are having a great day!!
I shower with Dr. Bronner's, but don't use it on my face. The peppermint is very refreshing, and the baby one is good for sensitive skin. A good hair treatment is a mixture of olive oil and castor oil (about two thirds olive oil to one third castor oil). I rub it through all of my hair, put on a scarf, and let it soak in for two hours. Then I shower, washing my hair twice before conditioning. It is supposed to be good for hair growth, and my hair is very long now. I also put it on my eyelashes once a week.
Great tip! Thanks for sharing how you use bronner's here in the comments. Hope you are having a great night.
Caster oil is said to help/aid in hair growth whether it be you hair, eyelashes ect.. Also castor oil ingested will stimulate your intestine and you will be running to the rest room lol My first introduction to castor oil was when i was pregnant and very close to my delivery date, i was told that taking it could help stimulate contractions & bring on labor.
Wow, I head no idea!! Thanks for informing us here in the comments. This is cool to hear!
@Lori Michelle I know that the castor seed (of which castor oil is extracted) is poisonous. please be careful and only consume it in very small amounts if it's from a reputable brand and it clearly states on the bottle that it's edible. Have a nice day!
PLEASE do not use castor oil to bring on labour!!!
That used to be common for women giving birth but they eventually stopped bc they found it has no benefit.
What is your opinion on using essential oils for acne scars (rose hip oil) and to prevent acne (tea tree oil)? I've seen a lot of videos saying that they do wonders! Love your videos! ❤
Tea tree oil can help the inflammatory lesions of acne (but can also cause irritant and allergic contact dermatitis) but no essential oil can treat an acne scar.
Carly Gains : That's an interesting reply from Dr Gray because rosehip oil really helped me in terms of calming down my cystic acne, balancing out my oily-combination skin and fading off my dark spot. Of course it takes time because it's an organic oil but ya :)
Tea tree oil irritated my skin and aggravate my acne so badly, im never gonna use any oils again
Hi! You mentioned putting your moisturizer on top of still wet skin which makes perfect sense but the question I have is about layering products. I use several serums and moisturizer as a last step. So where does the wet/damp skin work in this process?
Thanks!!!!
I dont put that much stuff on, so im not entirely sure, but by moisturizing a wet face and allowing it to dry before applying things with active ingredients in them, it helps the skin take up the active ingredients better.
I have eczema as well, and wash my face with Aveeno baby eczema wash, and moisturize with the baby eczema moisturizer. Also, what do you think of African Black Soap for acne?
Love the aveeno baby eczema wash and moisturizers! African black soap is made from oils and ashes of agro wastes (derived from cocoa, palmfruits, ground nuts, & sorghum), as well as vegetable oils like shea butter and palm oil. It has a very alkaline pH. Despite enthusiasm for this soap, there are no scientific studies to support or refute its efficacy for any dermatologic condition. Hope that helps answer your question.
Thanks! Just trying to battle my son's cystic acne!
im loving the cardigans i have got to get me some of them i love the color of the one you are wearing in this vlog. glad you found your beauty dust lol i have got to try it!! cerave has a 2 dollar off coupon on any of their products too to use in stores if you go to their web site i use one everytime i purchase my cleanser or sunscreen ;)
Glad you like your sun cape!! Thanks for sharing your cerave coupon tip here in the comments to save folks a few $$. Hope you are having a great day!
I only use dr. Bronners for "cleaning" my house, makeup brushes and my toddler. I don't like to bathe with it because it doesn't suds up and give me that clean feeling.
I use it for cleaning as well! I use the baby Bronner's mixed with distilled water and tea tree oil.
Yeah many people like the foaming ingredients for sure!!
Great cleaning tip!
I'm currently using the Citrus Dr. Bronners soap (half dilluted with water) on my closed comedones and follow it up with this burts bees toner that is more moisturizing and I haven't seen a new closed comedone pop up since. I get that really deep under the skin acne on my chin from hormones though. (the painful bumps)
Dr Broker's is regular liquid soap, ie saponified vegetable oils. It lathers a lot because it has a lot of coconut oil which is very cleansing. For this reason it is not ideal for babies. However if the other ingredients are natural it should be good for people who have healthy skin that can readjust its pH quickly just like any other real soap.
Yes I love the Equate brand for the CeraVe and they even have the generic Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap :)
Thanks for sharing :)
i seriously prefer the way equate’s cerave knockoffs feel! And it’s cheaper too... I LOVE the hydrating cleanser
I was wondering if you could give us your opinion on taking a steam sauna. I have recently been told it would be good for my asthma and as well as my skin. If you think it's a good thing how often would you recommend it for skincare and what would be your recommended "after steam" skin care routine? I am also looking forward to your video on Differin for aging skin. I bought some last week and will begin using it soon. Thank you for all your help and have a wonderful day.
I don't recommend steam to the skin as this causes vasodilation and worsening of any underlying rosacea. Despite claims of "detoxifying and cleansing pores" this really is not the case for skin. I address your question about differin and "aging" skin on this week's q&a, so stay tuned.
Thanks for the reply!!
I've used that goats milk soap for years i loved the smell of it... I've stopped using it now but I'm very familiar with it!
Yeah that particular one I show here smells great. I keep it in my linen drawer. Hope you are having a great day.
Hi Dr. Dray. I see in your routine you use two different sunblocks at the same time. Is that better? Any pieces of advice about it?
no, one is enough...just put on multiple coats
Yet another great video! By the way, I love the Coolinar Cadigan. I'm always looking for ways to protect my skin and the cardigan is stylish.
Thank you for touching on the PH of facial soaps. I'm am a little confused on what is a happy medium for facial soap PH level--is anything from 5.5-6.5 okay? I believe CeraVe Hydrating Facial Wash is right around 5.5 but there is just something in there that my skin does not like. I moved to Vanicream Gentle Face Wash which is a soap free minimal ingredient gentle face wash with a PH of 6.5 and my skin has been very happy with it--but I don't want to trade in one problem only to create another.
Im always asking you question and really appreciate your feedback. We are so fortunate to have you here in UTube! ❤
Thanks!! Yes that pH is generally well tolerated on the face.
Dr Dray thank you!! You're the best!
Thoughts on Clinique facial soap cleanser? It’s fragrance free it removes my makeup and lathers well on my oily skin etc
I tried cerave hydrating cleanser etc as I use tretinoin but I find if I don’t use something that cleanses well it just doesn’t clean my skin that well.
I find Dr. Bronners too drying on my face, but I love it as laundry detergent for intimates, hand wash, dish detergent...
Good tip! Thanks for letting me know, hope you are having a great day.
What do you think about the brand Pacifica? :) i really enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing!
Lotions smell nice, but fragrances can always cause problems potentially.
Thank you :) also, what about toners? I mainly use them to get the remainder of my makeup off. Are they too drying?
I know this is an old video but the black soap you where asking about could be "coalface" by lush.its made for oily skin types.ive used it before and found it quite nice and none drying.😀
thanks for sharing!
Dr Dray!! I was born in Uruguay, South America and I live in the USA.I love your videos!! I have learned so much. Thanks!
Thanks so much!! Would love to visit your country some day :)
Hi dr Dray! I am having trouble with finding the right cleanser for acne-prone skin.
I have a couple of acne right now beacause of a korean cleanser that I tried.
As much as I want to try the Neutrogena oil free acne wash, I can't find it here in the Philippines :(
Could you please tell me if these ingredients are safe for a cleanser?
Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Sea water (Maris Aqua), Propylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Ethoxydiglycol, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Salicylic Acid, Maltooligosyl Glucoside, Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hydroxide, Caprylyl Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Disodium EDTA, Aloe barbadensis Leaf Juice, Maltodextrin, 1,10-Decanediol, 10-Hydroxydecanoic Acid, Sebacic Acid
THANK YOU SO MUCH! God bless you!!!
that is very good, yes...it is pretty similarl to neutrogena oil free acne wash as far as the ingredient list...do know that this should not be used around the eyes, and will likely be very drying in the begininning..so go slowly and use a moisturizer
thank you so much Dr Dray! More power! I love your videos because it's very straight forward and informative. Thank you again!!! :)
another amazing vlog! it's miserable hot 🔥 here in Florida! humidity is a killer lol! hope Your having a great week so far! 😊
Thanks so much!! Hope you are staying cool and having a great night!
Yes, I bathe with it. You can wash your hair with it too and your face. I picked up Neutrogena face wash with the salicylic acid in it to use in the shower.
Can u pls make a video on Dr. Bronner? From this vlog i did n9t get the main thing: analysis of ingredients and if that s true 9r not that it helps to prevent acne for acne prone skin (but dehidrated one) thanks
Nice video ! I’m trying to switch to more natural skincare because all these chemicals and paragons can’t be good for our health . My skin is super sensitive and I’ve been using cetaphil soap forever . Would Switching to dr bronners as a face soap be a bad move ? It’s the tea tree one and I’ve never tried tea tree and have sensitive skin but i just really want to try some natural things ! Tysm for ur help
I have sensitive skin as well, and do not recommend using straight castile soap. Instead, I started making my own face wash using 1/3 cup Dr Bronners castile soap, 1 cup purified water, 2 tablespoons of raw honey (to lower ph and unsaponify the soap) and 2 tablesoons of any oil (I use olive oil, but some people don't like that.) It takes about an hour for the honey and soap to mix, and I find that it definitely helps make the soap more gentle. If I use more than 1/3 cup, it always burns my face. Maybe if your skin is super sensitive, only use 1/4 cup of soap in the recipe, and if your skin is dry, do 3 Tbsp of oil instead.
Hey Dr. D. I'm going through your videos in search of a remedy for my blackheads.. if you haven't made any yet, please do. Also, just by the way.. since I've started following you since a week now, I know exactly what to look for at the drugstore and cosmetic department. I live in Karachi, Pakistan and we don't have CeraVe. And the Neutrogena sheer dry touch was out of stock but I went through the ingredients on the back of the Sunscreen and picked a 50gm one that had titanium dioxide 0.50% and 0.75% zinc oxide. That's the best part about your channel.. the information about the important active ingredients and how they'll benefit us.
Sharmeen Alam thanks!!
I like your new coolibar cardigan but as I was checking out the website I see a beach coverup that resembles your white one. I don't see cardigans listed
I just got some Panoxyl foaming wash for my son and am wondering if he can or should also use the Differin gel? Thanks!
it can
So do you recommend the Castile soap for the face ?
no
That’s the Yes Tomato charcoal soap. You can it up at Target for $5
I love Dr Bronner’s. I even use it to clean the shower and then use it on myself. My mother told me they used castor oil (and cod liver oil) to clean out your bowels. Yikes.
hi.... just started noticing urs video. i like it..especially the cream u suggested for dark spots n pigmenation.i have dark spot n pigmentated face... i used melacare creamin past . initially it gave me a clear skin but when i stoped all me dark spot were back. so can u suggest something which can effectively remove the pigmentation. the products u suggested in that video which has hydroquinon are safe. will the pigmentation occur if i stop using them.
Thanks Ms Sheeba :) Check out my dark spots/melasma Q&A as well as the description box of that video, as there are suggestions: ruclips.net/video/ONLJrUG5wgM/видео.html
I bought a bottle of Castille soap and it does wonders for the hair. Makes it look really thick. But, it burns the private bits. Ouch. I bought the lavender Dr. Bronner's and it burns the bum and other bits lol.
Thanks for sharing
Ouch!!!
The unscented one from the baby section doesn't cause that problem just fyi
can u plz suggest a cleanser for combination skin type. Actually da country where I live can't find so many foreign products. Here only few types of products available nd mostly Indian products
can u plz suggest something for me?
cerave
I've been doing the double cleanse method for about a year and I really like it. I use Albolene, which is sold at most drugstores. It has the consistency of Vaseline. I take a warm washcloth to wipe it off then follow with my cleanser and the rest of my nightly skincare routine. I don't wear heavy makeup but I do wear Bare Minerals powder and waterproof mascara. I find the Albolene eliminated the need for a separate eye makeup remover.
Thank you so much for sharing your double cleanse method and tip with the abolene here in the comments! :)
Husband loves that’s stuff do not wash sensitive areas with it if you know what I mean?
dr.bronners peppermint was strong for my face so i used to dilute it and use it as my morning/night cleanser. since learning about ph i stopped but i still use it for my body. + castor oil has made my eyebrows thicker than they already are.
Thanks for sharing!
Brain Dust is exactly what I need lol. I'm gonna have to try it, thanks for the intro to potentially another new addiction 😁. Another great vlog! Have a good night! -B
Yeah I need to try the brain dust! Let me know how you like the dusts. Hope you are having a great night!
Hi doctor I was thinking to buy klairs gentle black sugar charcoal soap for my acne .. it has sodium hydroxide as 2nd incredient .. is it safe ? They are free from fragrance , surfactance, hardner and preservatives... the company messaged me saying it’s nutrel ph but just worried about the sodium hydroxide.. it’s a Korean brand .. thanks
that is not fragrance free...it has lavender oil and eucalyptus oil
Dr Dray so is it not safe ? Theses oils on acne skin thanks
"HANDS OFF BRAINLESS " ;P LOVE YOUR TERMINOLOGY !
CJ knose lol!! I'm all about conserving brain waves
I've been using 2% salicylic acid everyday and it doesnt keep me from breaking out. I haven't found a single body lotion I can use, the best I can do Is use Aloe vera gel so far.
Im thinking of switching from salycilic acid to Glycolic acid and see if thats better, or just switch to using differin and benzoyl peroxide.
Cool to hear about the aloe vera being helpful. It actually has been shown to contain naturally occuring salicylic acid, as well as a few other compounds that may be anti-inflammatory. It has been shown to be helpful for patients with psoriasis, but no one has looked into it for acne. Makes sense though that it might help there too. Thanks for sharing!
hey dr. dray! can you use the Neutrogena gentle cleanser as your double cleanse, with the first application on dry skin and the second to wet skin?
i imagine so :)
Dr Dray excellent! 😊😊😊
Hi everyone and dr drey pls can u help me about a matter that I have very dry skin with hormonal acne.also my skin got so sensitive now a days.was thinking about cream cleansers for my acne but dry skin.do they work?i use makeup.use oil cleanser too.should I buy that neutrigena gentle cleanser?or the face wash?
I think they sell a Latika black charcoal soap at the Bucees gas station off 290 😁.
latikasoap.com/product-category/black-hatchet/
Idk if it's the same soap as what ur using.
Lyzelle Robinson goodtip! I'll check when I'm there next.
I'm allergic to water, i cant take too long of shower without breaking out in a painful rash same thing with washing dishes, swimming and washing my face. My skin is super sensitive to any lotion, face moisturizer, or face wash with too much water in it.Any advice on how i can fix that?
i would see a dermatologist who specializes in physical urticarias....there is one in new york at nyu
Dr Dray thank you so much for your advice! I hope you have a lovely day.
can i use that panoxyl on my face?
yes...do know it causes a lot of dryness and peeling...avoid around the eyes/mouth and always use moisturizer immediately after washing off
You crack me up soap-nos ! :-)
Lol!!
Have you tried any of the other moon dust's offered?
Not yet, but dying too! Brain dust sounds promising. Have you tried any??
I spray Rose water on my face from that brand from Dr Brand
Bet is smells nice!
Hello Dr Dray video can u make a video on clearing up back acne ? I've had it for years and I also have lots of dark spots as a result of it .
Can you also recommend a moisturizer for my body that won't clog my pores ? Thank you
I have listed body products in my skin care routine video that you may be helpful to you, including a body wash for acne.
That is the exact brand I use on my eyelashes and eyebrows and it really does work!
Wow!! This is interesting!!! Thank you guys for sharing this with me.
Hi doc dray can you make us a vlog about blackheads 😭☺️ thanks
check out my pores Q&A..they are essentially the same information
Castile Soap used to come with every hospital enema kit. Its can be somewhat irritating when used as a facial wash.
yeah others have said the same about it being to harsh as a face wash

PS. I got the brain dust and the power dust. I am curious to see what happens with these. I think I am finally glowing hahahahahaha How about you? I had 2 people mention that my skin seemed lighter and I did not look tired. I am counting that as a quantification of the glow factor. I will let you know if I start writing quantum physics equations with the brain dust and running marathons with the power dust. I have very high expectations. : o ) hahahahahahaha
Okay glad I am not the only one feeling the BD powder power, lol! Maybe it helps with better sleep? Good sleep makes everything brighter (skin & brain). Hope you have a great night!
Have a great clinic week!
Going to get me some Beauty Dust and Sex Dust :)
I am addicted, lol!
Hi Dr Dray...you have helped me so much with my acne prone skin...for the first time i know how to take care of my skin...
