      TheLogicalDragon it’s actually mostly the same thing, coming from someone who has 2 parents with music degrees, one that went to Juilliard and has been playing piano since he was 5. Stay within your scales and arpeggios, as long as you know the theory it’s all jazz across all instruments. Piano you just have to do more things at once, such as chords and melody.

    • @Eshayzbra96
      @Eshayzbra96 5 лет назад +3

      also 12 blues is really only about following the progression after you establish the key lmao. If the key is in A, then you know there will most likely be a G, E, D and maybe a B in there, and once you know the scales you know exactly what notes to play. See he just waited until she through down some bars, got his mind around the tempo and started playing some notes. Not hard with 12 bar blues and a bit of talent.
      my knowledge is pretty basic as I didn't continue to learn musical theory since the 12th grade nearly 4 years ago, but if I know what key somebody is playing in a 12 bar blues repertoire, I can follow quite easily. Pretty much anyone can with 12 bar blues, you can teach kids to play some chords in 4/4 at the same tempo as these two, with somebody doing a standard beat, and it'd sound good with the people in this video.
      granted, that piano playing is talent and not many people could do that, but you don't need much knowledge or talent to follow along.

All I have to say is that he had the courage to give it a try which was courageous because I am sure some of those commenting would not have the courage to do it. The girl was very good. People need to be encouraged not discouraged. I am sure the sax man knows that and is trying which I say good to him. Keep up the practice and playing for that will make you a good musician. It takes time. Not all are born with the perfect skill as many think you need to be to play in public. I am still trying and will be doing that til the day I leave this imperfect world.

This is the trouble with the RUclipsrs' twits tales of woe: These are volunteers who at the spur of the moment are taking time to transmit a moment of trouble free and light-hearted charitable entertainment. They are not receiving a stipend -- Ironically, it is the capturer and downloader who is more apt towards receiving a stipend from RUclips. They are doing all this work just to tickle his tummy.

    When you jam people can think what they like but it's how it feels that matters and it feeeeels gooooood and people connect.
    Also it pushes you, you never know what someone else may bring to the jam and where it could go and it dosnt always work but that's half the fun of improving ^^

    Stop hating on Mr. Sax guy! He's great! All this not keeping up nonsense is ridiculous, sax is a very difficult instrument! His Reed probably wasn't wet enough considering he just jumped in there, which is why it sounded quiet, playing with a dry Reed is a nightmare. He may have also lacked confidence which may have caused him to push less air through the instrument. Sax is also kinda heavy to carry which could have made him slouch a bit, making air increasingly difficult to escape his lungs. and due to the large range of notes his particular model of sax can produce, producing the right sound is often hard. Saying his level is below hers is quite untrue. Since they don't play the same instrument it's not right to measure his level on sax compared to hers on piano. They are different instruments and they are both indeed very good at their respective fields of play. Mr.Sax is a badass and deserves some respect.

      It is a horn. You can play it softly but in my experience, depending on the stiffness of the reed, sometimes playing softly limits the octave range especially on the low end. The ability to turn the volume down and still cleanly hit all of your notes shows the quality of the players embouchure.

      But I have to give kudos to them. The notes he played were quite tasteful and it's certainly not easy to stay in time at such a high speed with airport acoustics.
