- Victoria Mary Augusta Louise Olga Pauline Claudine Agnes (May 26, 1867 - March 24, 1953) was Queen of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Empress of India, from 6 May 1910 until 29 January 1936 as the wife of King-Emperor George V.
At the age of 24, she was betrothed to her second cousin once removed Prince Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence and Avondale, the eldest son of the Prince of Wales, but six weeks after the announcement of the engagement, he died unexpectedly during an influenza pandemic. The following year, she became engaged to Albert Victor's only surviving brother, George, who subsequently became king. Before her husband's accession, she was successively Duchess of York, Duchess of Cornwall, and Princess of Wales.
As queen consort from 1910, she supported her husband through the First World War, his ill health, and major political changes arising from the aftermath of the war. After George's death in 1936, she became queen mother when her eldest son, Edward VIII, ascended the throne; but to her dismay, he abdicated later the same year in order to marry twice-divorced American socialite Wallis Simpson. She supported her second son, George VI, until his death in 1952. Mary of Teck died the following year in her sleep at the age of 85, ten weeks before her granddaughter's Elizabeth II coronation.

Being documented doesn't affect anyone's life; being remembered isn’t the same thing as having mattered. We all matter, whether anyone remembers us or not.
These kinds of photo sequences are of great value to forensic artists who create age progressions; seeing the details of how various faces change shape can help them apply that to their craft. They however say nothing either way about the value of the person being photographed.

My great grandfather and grandfather worked for queen Mary and the king. As a grenadier guard and personal family musician. My grandfather signed up as a boy solider during world war 1 and also undertook a carpentry skill which took his fife finger and he became a drummer.. he left England for Australia 1926, before baby Elizabeth II was born. I have a coronation cup from my nanna of the king and queens coronation that belonged to my grandfather in 1911. Both my grandparents would have been 6. Such regal times. My grandfather grew up in a military orphanage. Met lord bayden Powell of the scouts fame…such an amazing story my ancestors have.
Queen Mary is my favorite Queen Consort. The gowns, the jewels, the hair. The mother of 2 Kings. I wish she would have lived to see Queen Elizabeth’s coronation.

Mary had strong features that showed up further down the line. I think Prince Harry looks like his mom but also like Queen Mary.
She personally knew 7 British Monarchs and saw reign of 6 of them:
1. Her grandmother-in-law Victoria (1837-1901)
2. Her father-in-law Edward (1901-1910)
3. Her husband George (1910-1936)
4. Her son Edward (1936)
5. Her another son George (1936-1952)
6. Her granddaughter Elizabeth (1952-2022)
7. Her great-grandson Charles (who was 4 years old when she died) (2022-)
Victoria was her aunt. Victoria and her mother were cousins.

She was a fantastically strong woman, after watching one of her children dying as a child, her husband dying and two sons on the throne straight afterwards each other (because Edward threw the crown in the gutter) for George to pick up and in time hand it on to his daughter Elizabeth....

She and Elizabeth 2 looked so pretty much alike when they were both young (about 7-10 years old). I can see a little resemblance of E2 with his dad (Teck's 2nd son). Margaret looks like a female version of her dad (see their photo on George VIII coronation).
Prince Edward Duke of Edinburgh as well and Princess Louise has a hint too.

She was the 2nd cousin once removed to her husband King George 5h of Britian. She herself was a descendent of King George 3rd. So she was a fringe royalty by birth and wasn't super rich then but got very rich when she married into it again to the heir to the throne.

She always claimed to be 5'6" - the same height as her husband but she appeared taller due to shoes, hairstyle and hats. She certainly looked taller than 5'6" though I'm fairly sure she was nowhere near 5'11". Where did you get this figure from?
