    I knew about miles per gallon but I didn't know people had to work out oil per mile, good video

    Personally, I like the rasp. It is a key bmw M trait. I guess if you want an American V8, buy an American V8

      You are right and it’s subjective but for me even a jag XK nailed the V8 sound a bit more . Have you heard the S62 in the Ascari? Sounds amazing, so I definitely think it’s just a few bits that need changing to achieve it. Thanks for watching !

    Still one of the best M5’s made 😎 also you forgot to mention how crap the headlights are! They only light up 5 metres ahead and anything beyond that is no mans land 🙂

      Yeah the standard headlights are about as strong as having a couple of candles lit at the front of the car 🤣! Luckily mine are a bit more powerful but loads of amazing upgrade options out there!

    Do what? Pretty sure people who own these cars could care less about fuel mileage and how expensive the mirrors are. How often do you replace side view mirrors?

      Without sounding like Doug DeMuro…. There are so many funny quirks with this car! I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love it though…. Even if it’s a pain sometimes 😅

    whats your oil consumption? My pre-facelift s62 has bad valve stem seals and I have to add 1L of oil every 250-300 miles :((

      BMW says that greater than 1L/416mi is technically a dead engine but there are a few (repairable) variables that could cause less than that. I’m doing a compression/leak down test soon to confirm the health of my engine.
      Other things I would check:
      - CCV pipes are replaced
      - Refreshing the plenum oil separators really helped my consumption
      - Give your rocker cover gaskets and rear main seal and inspection to make sure they are adequate
      - I also found out due to the greater clearance, engine braking has a great effect on oil consumption.
      Mine is about 700miles a litre on average with spirited driving and use of engine breaking.

      @@carchaps I have replaced valve cover gaskets and grommets but that didnt help, oil separators were changed 30k miles ago, but yea, looking forward to inspect all the stuff you wrote above!:) Engine runs great tho, best time I had in 60-130mph category is 11.38sec

    I hated the clutch on mine. Lack of low down torque and crappy clutch made smooth starts virtually impossible.

      Interesting. All the torque in my car is delivered by about 2.5k (according to the dyno) with plenty underneath and doesn’t feel lacking either. Did you have and old or aftermarket clutch/ lightweight flywheel?

      @@carchaps I went through two clutches while I had it, one of which was slipping when I bought it and the new one let go after a short trip to the track. All genuine BMW parts. My E60 did 140,000kms before needing a new clutch and has 100 more bhp.

    Well actually american V8’s have a cross-plane crank which gives them that distinctive sound. Having said that, get a proper exhaust for your rust bucket or you’re not a proper M5 owner. Wah wah wah do real reviews.
