I only saw this machine twice. The first time I saw it was in the arcade of my favorite amusement park. As a 15-year-old James Bond fan, I was in ecstasy when I spotted it and felt duty-bound to play until I won a free game. It took a couple of hours, but mission accomplished! As a Bond fan I loved the "countdown clock" game dynamics and found them fitting for 007. I guess not all pinball fans are also James Bond fans. The second time I saw the machine was a year later when I was on a trip to Paris. I was walking down a street and saw the Bond machine inside a cafe. I yelped, ran inside and played it a few times, then bid my adieus. I played a James Bond pinball machine in Paris, and that was cool.
Good morning, it really is a marvel, the page since gottlieb there is not much info and less here in Argentina, I have three goti a 007, a circus and a gladiator which I have almost finished, just start the 007, well from now on Thank you for sharing these videos and you are a capo. Regards Ariel Nappi
I knew of a Gpttleib prototype called "Nuts and Squirrels" that used a timed game feature, but I didn't know that that was the only timed game Gottlieb made.
The game is called "Goin' Nuts!" - as long as you keep at least 2 balls in play it won't start the timer. The timer will also stop if you happen to restart multiball with captive ball, or by shooting ball through any of 2 gates, if lit. Timer on this game applies to ball in play rather than entire game.
Hi! We have had a couple Beat The Clocks pass through here too! We have not considered the Understanding Pinball videos for the newer games because of the depth of the rules....it would take perhaps an hour or more to cover everything---and these 10 minute videos I did so many years ago took some 5 hours of filming each! Just no time!!! :-)
Bally/Midway (or Bally/Wulff) has released a timed game too, in 1985, Beat The Clock. Time was showed on a stopwatch on the playfield and remaining seconds announced by a voice (Squawk and Talk). It says too when time is expired and how many is added. As reminders of expired time it says: "Keep ball in play" or "Don't loose the ball". The bass in this game indeed is deep, the woofer of my 2.1 logitech sound setup portrais it well. Btw: Will you be doing reviews of newer Stern Machines (>2007)
it was actually titled Goin' Nuts which would later be seen in the Wii version of the Pinball Hall of Fame: Gottlieb Collection, as well as part of a downloadable table pack (alongside Stern's Flight 2000) in The Pinball Arcade app for Android, Apple iOS, PlayStation Network, and Steam .
A 1973 Wiliiams machine, "Travel Time", had a similar timed game concept: www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=2636 Not too sure how well it did when it was released, it probably confused players just as much as James Bond did.
