    I previously shot with my Canon R5 and Leica M246. I’ve had the HX2D100C for about 4 months now and it is my favorite camera. It is so simple and produces such beautiful images. The new V Series 55mm lens is unreal.

    I am a Nikon shooter, and my camera, the Nikon Z8 45mp and everything is programmable, customisable etc etc. This with the Z lenses are amazing. My OTHER is the X2D. The simplicity of the gorgeous design, the incredible Hasselblad colours [HNCS], and the sheer simplicity of simply taking a photo cannot be beaten. The X2D wins !!

    Julia: A great review as always. I'm curious how the images from this camera compare to the images that you get on the A1 or A7RV. I definitely notice a huge improvement going from a 24 mp camera to a 50 mp camera, especially when I want to preserve detail while cropping. Does the extra detail make a noticeable difference when going from 50 or 61 to 100 mp? Also, without eye AF, were you still able to get critical focus wide open in most of your photos?

    • @juliatrotti
      @juliatrotti  Год назад +3

      Thank you! Yes, the 100MP files are so beautiful to zoom in to. Normally I use a 33MP camera, so there is definitely a huge difference there. The last high resolution camera I used was the A7RV and even there I noticed the size difference with these X2D files. And yes, I was able to get lots of photos with critical focus! I thank the many years I used a manual focus point with the Canon 5D series for that :D

      Yes, you will notice the difference between a 102mp Fujifilm GF100S and A7RV, I don't have direct experience using R5 but own R4, but none of the medium format cameras will catch AF performance of full frame camera.

    Lovely photoshoot. I think the X2D is a top notch camera and none of the Hasselblad lenses are below that standard. I am just suprised that it performs well in such a use case (moving, outdoor portraits) that this camera is not really designed for. I guess still subjects, like architecture, landscapes and professional studio works where it shines the most. How did you find it moving out of its comfort zone?

    • @juliatrotti
      @juliatrotti  Год назад +3

      Thank you so much. Even though I knew this camera is designed for slower paced shooting, I did want to try something different for it (outdoors + movement from the subject) to see how it would handle these conditions. I had to be mindful to be more decisive on when to press the shutter to make sure I didn't miss a moment I wanted to capture. I also got used to that pace more as the photoshoot went along too, so eventually I found a good rhythm with the camera.

    The Hasselblad looks like a very beautiful camera, the only issue to me is the “lack of personality in terms of color rendition” : all cmos sensors nowadays offer the same dull color rendition since 10 years. Of course it’s possible to tweak the colors on each channel in PP but to me older CCD sensors or even the Sigma Foveon, even if not perfect at all in terms of dynamic range and iso noise, render more interesting files. I guess it’s time for camera manufacturers to offer new kinds of film like sensors

    Hasselblat don't deserve the ridiculous leniency, the veneration everybody submits to. If Sony and Canon 'wanted' to ventur into the (real!) Medium format, or even merely copy them, they would outperform Hasselblad in a hertbeat. The other way hardly at all.
    They don't deserve the total absence of REAL critique (plenty!).
    The "it's a different concept" doesn't hold at all ! (Same at Leica)
    No IBIS, no decent eye-af, no tilting vertical flipping monitor, ..if it was a canon, nikon, sony, we rightly so would bash them hard.
