Watch the BBC first on iPlayer 👉 bbc.in/iPlayer... Think you haven’t got time to bake - think again! Nadiya’s mouthwatering bakes can be rustled up in no time at all.
Nadiya Hussain comes to the rescue with her time-saving kitchen tips, to make sure that everyone has more time to spend doing the things they love, with the people they love.
In the sixth episode of the series, Nadiya shares her favourite recipes for when she wants to whip up something sweet and delicious, but deceptively simple. After all, when life is really hectic there are times when we all need to spoil ourselves with an indulgent treat, but that doesn't have to mean spending hours in the kitchen.
Nadiya teaches us how to save time baking, by ditching the oven and fry up a giant cookie in a frying pan instead.

ROBBIE BUNGE
Ingredients
150g/5½oz unsalted butter160g/5¾oz brown sugar1 medium free-range egg½ tsp vanilla extract½ tsp almond extract225g/8oz plain flour½ tsp bicarbonate of soda½ tsp salt200g/7oz chocolate chips
Recipe tips
Method
Place a small non-stick, thick-based heavy frying pan, about 23cm/9in, on a medium to low heat. Add the butter and allow it to melt, then add the sugar and stir until it has dissolved. Take off the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
While the butter is cooling, lightly beat the egg in a bowl and add the vanilla and almond extracts.
Now add the flour, bicarbonate of soda and salt to the mixture in the frying pan, followed by the egg mixture. Stir until you have a smooth cookie batter.
Press the batter down and sprinkle over the chocolate chips.
Now leave on a low heat for 15-20 minutes. If you find the bottom catches, you may find it helpful to pop a lid on the pan for 5 minutes. What you should end up with is a crisp base and gooey top.
Let the cookie cool and set for about 15 minutes. I like to take out slices and eat them warm with ice cream
Thank you for the recipe.👍❤️🇬🇧🇸🇱
Hulk vs me 👍❤️⭐️
😊
I love how she was trying so hard not to say smarties xD
Other brands are, theoretically, available. LMAO
Literally what I was thinking! 😂
@@BisectedBrioche obviously but she was using smarties
You aren't technically wrong.
It was her face after she said it 😂
Nadiya got emotional talking about this cookie and honestly I teared a bit, too
She’s still adding the chocolate chips to this day
What’s a chocolate chip we only know chocolate covered in crunchy sugar
Very proud of my British Bangladeshi sister! Met her in Milton Keynes took photos and got a signed book. Wish you the best always and loved the video
Can you just imagine her kids???....when they say, "my mum is the best." Well, from the mouth of tots. They're never leaving home.
sharri i know her son he is in my school and he talks about her sometimes
I JUST tried this and I'm not even exaggerating, this is revolutionary. It tastes so similar to those fancy ass cookie skillets made in the oven. I'd also suggest you put a lid on throughout the cooking process (my stove doesnt go as low as Nadiya's)
So is it like Millie’s? Because we love those! I never make cookies but this recipe is so easy, I cannot not try.
@@ABirdOnTheMoon I'm not suree, dont get millie's where I'm from but this was HONESTLY one of the best cookies ive had. Saved a LOT of time, effort and electricity 😅
Nadiya is such an amazing person I love her so much .
Her kids are so sweet
3:15 this is one cute reaction
She was BORN to be a tv show host. She's super lovely.
@1:03 Nadiya : " 150grams of BUTTER...& you just melt that down!!! "😨😵😱..🤯
Her kids are adorable!
This is so convenient! I literally am going to go and make one right now.
always loved nadiya. def my fave winner. such a lovely person
Thanks, BBC, My arteries are clogging just by looking... OOOOOOO yummy
My new favorite chef, definitely 😍 I'm getting so much inspiration
I
LOVE cookie
yes!!!on the almond extract!!!YES!!
i loved watching nadiya on the great british baking show and i love seeing her shine on so many other platforms now! :) btw, we also have smarties in canada :)
Made this with 50g brown sugar and 115g white sugar (run out if the brown one). Its a keeper :)
This looks so good. I should not be watching this late at night 😂
QUEEN!!
Recipe works sooo well
this seems like it would be good if they added a scoop of vanilla ice cream to their slices.
You know you’re American when you see these comments about smarties and think of the sugar version, not m&ms 😂
She looks like Issa Rae tho🤩
She seems a cool lass 👍
Thanks so much for posting I love it👍💜💜💜
I made this cookie and according to your advice i cover the paan and because of steaming process all my colourful smarties bled and lost their original colour. I’m so disappointed. I’m sure it still taste good.
I’m thinking this should be done in one of this massive paella dishes! 🤪Yum!!!
this is genius
I made these it’s so goood
Any substitute for the almond extract please?? ❤️
What's not to like? I mean this is so quick and easy I have to try soon. It looks delightfully delish 😋😍
Lovely colourful chocolate sugar coated sweets or simply smarties
Would love to see a recipe converted to American measurements! Anyone here done that? We obviously can’t use smarties, but I’d love to try them someday!
thats such a smart cookie, what are the chocolate buttons though?
Also ingredients are not there with their numbers
How much soft crunch sugar
Yummy
That use of Lily Allen, woo.
Yessss!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Please please please x10000000 can you figure out a vegan version?
You forgot the sugar and I had to put it in the oven where cookies belong!
"Smallest ring"? Is that the smallest burner?
I can’t wait to make these but how much sugar, I don’t think she said? Is it 150g? Thanks.x @nadia
THESE ARE AMAZING I JUST MADE THEM!!! Also yes its 150g and the link to the recipe is in the bio!
I'm cooking this now and the top is still very wet after 25 mins - what do I do?? I've tried the lid on for the last 5 mins to no avail... Please help!
Nadiya’s not only a great cook but also seems like a genuinely lovely person. Makes it feel like you’re baking with your friend
Yeah true. She seems really down to earth and nice 😀
Amy Hepburn totally agree!
Amy Hepburn 👍💐🇬🇧🇸🇱
Amy Hepburn I would want to appear that way in front of cameras for people to like me and watch my show and keep myself relevant and get paid too if I was her lmao😂😂. Show biz
Look at my Neck or maybe it’s just her personality? Some people can’t even act nice on camera but for her it seems way more natural.
I literally have all the ingredients in my pantry...even the almond extract...but I won't make it, because I'm home alone and I. Will. Eat. The. Entire. Thing.
Wise choice! xD
Do it! Add vanilla ice cream 😋
@@ToyaF82 Gurl...so you're that mate, right??...me: standing on the edge.
You: girl jump, you probably have wings. You got this.
Hmmm, but I think we think alike. Vanilla ice cream; of course!!!
@@schari30 😂😅🤣
Omg more reason to make it 😁
Umm I think I put it too hot and now I have a fried egg in my cookie
How in the world. Did you even mix it?
Maybe try turning the heat off before putting the egg
Klaszy_K I think it was on too hot and it fried before I got a chance to even mix it
@@myleslink oooh ok. I get what you mean. Once you mix the dough you can take it out and mix it in a bowl with the egg then pour it back in.
Klaszy_K I guess I should’ve done that haha. Maybe I will try again another day
This is so handy for people who don't have access to an oven.
Or people who are really lazy 😂(me)
Mystery123 and me 😂👍🏻
chloe 😂😂
Especially in India not everyone have ovens and even if i have oven sometimes i prefer to do it on stove top, brilliant idea.
she's trying so hard not to say smarties and that little smile, i love her.
nadiya resisting the temptation to say smartie
That was confusing but ok
@just a gardengnome me
@just a gardengnome loads of people?
"Lovely colourful chocolate sugar coated pieces" made me laugh 😂
ravenclaw.glader Lol I love how she winks when she describes them

@Olivia they probably just mean she looks way younger than 34, no ill intentions x
Olivia Yeah I meant she looks way younger than 34, I didn’t mean to offend you lool.
Only teenagers think mid-30s is "not young".
1980rlquinn I’m 22 but OK LMAO.
Mari she has 3 kids how young did you think she was
I love how her children are like “can we get a wok and do this again?”

Nadiya has been the best by far so far and has made it pay unlike any of the others who have won. Good for her too i say
I was going to say something about putting the 'cook' back into cookie but the young lad beat me to it! Gonna give this a go though!
Robert Moore great minds! 😁
You are so infectiously joyous. You bring a light to both your cooking and your children's eyes. Thank you for existing.
She's just doing what she loves and sharing it with us. What's with all the hateful comments??! What's geography, gender, race or colour got to do with cooking?? No one's being forced to watch. If you don't like it, find another channel.
This is the only negative comment I can find on here. Maybe they got deleted but there is only 34 dislikes so maybe there was like 1 comment you saw or something? I love drama and I couldn't find any in the comments so I am starting drama with you. Ya liar :D.
@@Baxbax you love drama so much you trying to stir it up with me now? When I first saw this, there were about 8-9 comments and 4 of those were negative, so yeah, about 50%. One guy left a comment going on about black ladies belonging in the kitchen only, another said he didn't know cookies were invented by black women, another said something about the BBC thinking the UK being somewhere in Africa and one more calling Nadiyah a transgender person, all for no reason. So no mate, I ain't no liar. People deleting their disgusting comments because of what I said, or mean comments getting deleted by moderators, does not make me a liar. I'm a woman of colour, just like Nadiyah, and felt the sting of every one of those nasty, useless comments and said my piece. Clearly you have a brain and it somewhat works, cos you can string words together, and you realise those comments may have been deleted. Here's a suggestion. Why don't you use that functioning sliver of your brain to do something worthwhile instead of picking on RUclips users and wrongfully accusing people of being liars? Or, next time you want drama, turn on the telly, right? There's a good un. Get on yer bike now. And don't forget to *plug in* your telly first, or it won't work.
@@browngirl9746 well said my sister 👏 💗

Awesome! You are such a pleasure to watch xxxxx Great recipes too 😁 loooove the kids 😘
I love watching these Nadiya cooking videos! Would be fab if there was an official channel for her recipes!
there actually is !! its called Nadiya bakes on Netflix ☺☺
That cheeky wink as she dropped the "chocolate sugar coated pieces" into the pan slayed me 😂
We all know she meant smarties! but obviously didn't want the product placement.
As I watched this video I thought "This lady is so pretty and lovely that she convinced me even though I feel like this is one of those recipies that, once u try them at home, will be a failure"
Boi was I wrong. i made it today and it was not only super easy and quick, but utterly delicious. Thank you, pretty British woman. I will always be grateful for this gift.
The quickest eaten giant chocolate chip cookie. Mmmmmmmmmmm
Who else loved it when she said "You welcome" Epic.!! Like errhmmm I just did you a favour 😂😂😂
I tried it but i failed because at the end all the oil from the butter was on top of the cookie. It was just way too oily. Idk why :/
Anyone had the same problem?
You better turn of the heat when the butter and sugar melted. Only then you add in the flour and egg so it's a smooth mix before you turn the heat on again and bake it.
Can I come live in your family? ❤️
@Jot Grewal Life is not all about pork and alcohol
Lara 😂
Haha, I like her look to the camera because she isn’t allowed to advertise Smarties on the BBC. She’s so wholesome.
Why not
Yelp
@@abc23123 the UK has really strict advertising laws and iirc the BBC since it's a "national" channel (or whatever it's called, basically it's free TV if you've got your TV licence) isn't allowed to advertise things like that because it's too influential. Don't think you're allowed to advertise to children either. There's a great Vox video about it floating around somewhere...
Tried it. Got burnt at the bottom and didn't cook on the top. I followed the same recipe and the exact time 🙄
My pan is none stick as well 😥
This was very nice, followed all the steps carefully and put in a very low heat. It definitely takes longer than 20 minutes though. I would keep the lid on to speed up the process. Once cool the dough hardens.
Nadia. I love you. Please be my best friend 🤞🏻❤️❤️😊
Whaaaaat?!?! I remember binge watching the entire season of her on GBCS❤️
The best winner ofThe Great British Bake off, everything about her is beautiful!
Wow thanks for sharing your home and all your recipes❤️beautiful family definitely making that cookies.💕🇬🇧🇸🇱
Tried this recipe at the weekend. Absolute winner! Our little guest loved the M&Ms (used these instead of Smarties as that's what he had floating around). Swear her recipes are way more realistic than other mainstream cooks like Jamie's or Nigella's, they're actually genuinely easy and quick to make! Thanks Nadiya. :D
Oh goodness, this is the happiest cookie I’ve ever seen...thanks Nadiya , I’m so going to make this for my grandchildren 🥰 🍪❤️
Ok well now I want to see her do it in a massive wok. The quickest deepest cookie ever.
No dis, but if I don’t want my £154 licence fee spent on crap cookery, crap house auction and other cheap shite programmes, how do I cancel this?
She sounds like she is about to cry over a delicious cookie, and I'm here for it.
Oh look Muslims aren't 👽 👽 👽 damn you Daily Mail. All the lies solved by a giant 🍪 much love Nadz
I want to do this recipe but how much soft brown sugar do you put in?
tried this recipe and didn't really work well for me ☹️ cookie got hard and burnt
“Lovely colourful chocolate sugarcoated pieces” 😂
It’s so nice seeing how confident Nadia is in comparison to when she started bake off
I love thissss cuz my oven is broken and I couldn’t bake for so long
I love this woman and her recipes. Keep it up!
I'm normally positive but this recipe simply does not work! I tried and it failed and I tell you why.
1. All the grease from the butter made it really the oily.
2. There is no way this would work because of the method of cooking. It isn't cooking evenly causing a raw top and a burnt bottom. This is why you cook cookies in the oven so it's even. Think about it, pancakes are cooked in the pan but you have to flip them to make them cook evenly, this wasn't flipped in a way. Also in the video when it's being cooked from being served it turned oily to crispy when the top is getting hardly no heat.
I apologise for the rant but I just don't want people to make the same mistake I made by wasting ingredients for this recipe and I respect Nadiya in every way for creating and producing recipes.
True i agree
Thank you Tanya Tanya and is it causing less washing up think about it
Frying pan cookie-
Egg cup
Fork
Butter bowl
Sugar bowl
Dry ingredients bowl
Measuring spoons
Pan
Pizza sclice
Now the normal cookie-
Bowl
Spoon
Baking tray
And making an egg cup and fork if your beating
And also this uses more gas on the hob by taking 20 mins to cook while normal cookies take 8 to 10 mins in the oven with maybe 5 to 10 mins to preheat and I'm apologise for ranting again😂
This is Sam lol true so many dishes and even no cookies to eat afterwards thats more painful better make normal cookie dough and put in a skillet and place it like normal cookies and cook for 15 minutes on low flame on stovetop it turns out better dan dis I hve tried
I tried this recipe but placed it in the oven the second time as it does not work in a pan so I totally agree! Works fine in the oven though in a lined pizza tray!
"lovely colourful chocolate sugar coated... Pieces 🤨" trying to describe smarties, without saying smarties 😂😂
I made this but without the almond extract and with self raising flour instead of plain with baking soda. I got the best result that way
Full recipe pls? I watched this so I can do it. But there's no measurement for the brown sugar :(
Thanks Miche C. Check out the recipe in our pinned comment.
