Kiwi, I inputed my airport and destination. When I got to the airport radio just kept me at 2000 and I kept flying around the port. What should I be doing? Appreciate it.
My best tip, Always calculate how many miles you are from your destination airport so you do not overshoot the airport or or come in too early. How i do it is i figure out how far my destination airport is. Next i figure out how high i will be flying. So if i will fly at 10,000', then i take 10,000' and remove the 3 last zero's and end up with 10. Next i take the 10 and multiply by 3 not anything more or anything less, just 3 and i end up with 30. So then i know that if i fly at 10,000', then i will have to start descending 30 nautical miles from the runway at around 700-800 Feet Per Minute. When you follow this guide, you will alwyas get to your destination perfectly on time and at the right altitude. This tip is mainly for planes without the FMC. You're welcome. 100th like by the way. Nice video.
Ok. I'm lost already. Looking at both compasses, they are different. Notice the gyro compass is at 28.4 (I think you said) and if you look at the magnetic compass it shows 340 approx. So they are not showing the same thing.
Hey, well its been a long time since I made this video!! The magnetic compass is actually showing 020 (ish) - you can see the North indicator just to the right and 030 to the left. The DI aligns to about 025 when I press the key - so slightly out but not much. Remember these two instruments spin in different directions (North to the left on the DI, and to the right on the Compass). Hope that clears it up!
Hallo , ich habe den x Plane 11 schon länger und das speichern von Flügen ging immer aber sieht ca. 5 Monaten klappt das nicht mehr, wenn ich speichern drücke wird der Bildschirm grau . Ich habe einen Mac !
I’m a rookie,I don’t understand all the nav modes,I think fsx is better in that way as you can plot a line between two locations and then just follow a purple line,I just fly for the scenery and feeling the physics of the ac. Vulkan is awesome in xplane. Those view tips are handy,I use a great trackir preset that moves around the panels and I can hold a zoomed view of any part of the cockpit,I can fill my monitor with one dial if I want(I don’t understand them ),the VOR tutorial in the flight school,I have no clue what to do,God does not like us dumbos.
Look up a video on intercepting and tracking vors in real life. The in game tutorial does a terrible job explaining what they actually do and how to set your cdi in the plane. Watching someone explain with a real airplane and chart and talk through it will help it make a lot more sense and you can transfer that over to the sim really easily
Can this sim be played with a game pad and keyboard or is a yoke required? I am looking into getting my first flight sim but do not own and probably will not be buying anything other than a game pad. Also, is this a good sim to start with?
Hey, you definitely don't need a yoke but I'd recommend a joystick at the minimum (I use Logitech Extreme 3D pro which is relatively cheap). Technically you could use a gamepad but it's more difficult particularly for GA flying. In the heavies a lot can be done via mouse and keyboard.
Thank you for your reply. Is there a simpler flight sim for someone who is just thinking about getting into flight sims? X-Plane looks like it might have a really steep learning curve for a dummy like me.
Hi Karl, there are two ways. You can press 5 on your number pad on your keyboard. I also have the default view mapped to a button on my joystick. Thanks for watching :)
Hi, thanks for watching. Steam is a online video game store: store.steampowered.com/ . I would recommend X-Plane 11 but you will need to compare your computer specs to see which version you are able to run.
This is a wonderful presentation indeed! I'm planning to acquire my first sim and I have already started learning the ropes of operations from you! I have subscribed to your channel today.
Nice job Kiwi Mace........very informative n helpful, I have 3 flight sims and really want try to fly instead of just mucking around, I am sure you know what I mean, thank you Sir
What is the plus on my screen, and when i accidentally press it my plane just crash and goes straight out of control. Its middle of tm screen? Any help?
Is there a webpage with these shortcuts? I want to set one up for flaps, etc, but I use a Mac and the ones listed do not work. I’ve googled it but only has a few standard ones. Thank you.
@@KiwiMace Yes, that is correct. It doesn't assign though. I have the X-Plane official cheat sheet page from their site, which has about 20 options, of which I use a couple. I have tried the shortcuts you gave in the video but it doesn't work, possibly because I am using a Mac.
What XPlane 11 tips do you have?
Dont crash 😂
Haha very insightful!
@@KiwiMace 1. Always butter 2. Never RyanAir 3. Dont crash 4. DO BUTTER 5. More take-offs than landings.
SKyEK TV honestly I agree I have a lot more take offs then landings

Yes sir my pleasure
how the heck do you get back that far?? when i try my camera ( view) is in the seat!
Hey, I use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out. Otherwise you can use the < or the > key to zoom in and out in camera view.
@@KiwiMace I got that part. Best to go into settings and change the fov field of view to 80%
i just wanted to hear X plane 11 said in a Kiwi accent.
haha!! In that case, you're welcome!
Best video-straight to point-unlike many others who suffer from verbosity.
Thanks for watching :)
I have 5 helpful tips. A E I O U. Vowels used in the English Language Alphabet. 😜🤪😜. Cheers mate.
Haha have you been speaking with Alan!

@@KiwiMace Oh ok. I see now. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I had to zoom in to see it better.
I learned more in this video than a week of flying in the sim (my first week). Thanks, I have subscribed and will check out the other videos.
Thanks Simon, glad you enjoyed it. :)
Thanks Kiwi Mace just starting out with XP 11 bought a Honeycomb Alpha Flight Controls Yoke & loving it
Nice! It looks like a good piece of kit. Enjoy X-Plane :)
Excellent! Thanks for the tips. Keep 'em coming.
I've learned useful stuff in the sim and it really helped me in the flight school.
Awesome! Yes it's a great supplement to real world flying. Thanks for watching :)

Ewww, remember MS flight sim ‘98?😱🙈💥💩 Do you have a landing strip next to your farming 2017?🤗
hahaha!! FS2000 was the first version I played but yep it's definitely improved! Landing strip in Farming Sim.....hmmmmmm.... sounds like a plan!!!
Many thanks in Wales (UK) Kiwi, so that is what "align directional gyro" means. Now I know why I keep getting lost until I use GPS.
Great to hear from you and I'm glad you got something out of the video. :)

Where are the links.
How are you getting back to the default cockpit view after clicking 1 or 2 for the custom views?

Press the D key :)

Hey, you might have Fly With Mouse Control enabled. Have you configured your joystick/controller?
I have and i think its nothing like that, i havent seen this with anyone else. Weird
I had the same when using my mouse. Bought a yoke and it went.
great!
hi, you know how you have bought the just flight cessna and have the file, can you then send it to other people so they can use jt as well?
Thanks for the video!!

Why does no one say this. Always try to stay on the centerline ALWAYS
Good advice Tazzie :)
@@KiwiMace that shouldn't even be advice. My dads a pilot and I'm about to start my ppl first thing your told ALWAYS STAY ON THE CENTERLINE
no offense but i thought that its common sense
You just said it. Good enough mate👍🙈
Helps to become a better pilot and makes it easier to stay away from disaster (equal distance to both sides...) common sense, right?
Why does he say ex plane
Because that is how you pronounce the name of the program - duh!
Les Markiewicz what should he say?
Cuz it will be an ex plane the first time you crash!
That is what the captions tell you
