- After playing Infinite Flight Simulator as a recommendation from someone in the 74 Crew I received lots of messages to play a variety of games. One of them was Xplane 11 so I take the Boeing 747 out for a few landings to see how it reacts compared to the actual plane.

A good landing is a landing where you can walk away after. A perfect landing is when you can use the plane again. From that perspective you did perfect landings :-)
I mean, except for the pod strike in the first landing ;)
@@lauej you can fly with one engine down. Not recommended but considering the rest of the definition of a good landing I think it's fair ;-)
Actually the quote, by Chuck Yeager is; "A great landing is one you walk away from. An outstanding landing is one, where you can use the plane the next day."~
A good landing is one you can walk away from
A great landing is one where you can use the plane again
A perfect landing is one where the passengers will get on for the return trip
3:24 you can steer on the ground because you don’t have rudder pedals connected. If you were to connect rudder pedals, that setting would automatically turn off 😉
thank you eintsiten
@bob you are correct, but if you don't have an axis for that assigned in the sim, it will couple the rudder with the NWS. If you assign an axis for NWS, it will treat rudder and nose wheel steering separately like the real thing.
How the fuck does a flippin plane type.
@@tedbukes There is a tiller axis available for set up. If you don't set it up, you can steer any aircraft using rudder pedals. (And if you don't set up rudder axis, you can steer aircraft like a car. (And if you open a Cessna 172 in Plane Maker, you can add JATO rockets.))

74gear : “every airline has their own checklist”
Xplane : yesss
You're such a good sport for doing this. I recall one of my 1st flights in the UK back in like 1996, had lots of turbulence and it was a very bumpy landing. Once we slowed enough to taxi the pilot came over the intercom and said, "thank you for crash landing with British Airways, I hope you have a better rest of your journey this morning"
Odd...
Lol. Funniest pilot ever
I hope it was his landing and not his co-pilots! Hilarious though
Lol
If the British Airways pilots say this then the Ryanair pilots might say: “thank you for destroying/crack your butt, crash landing and die with us. I hope you can fly on other airline or you would actually crack your butt bone if you sit on another Ryanair flight”
"I haven't crashed... yet"
The confidence is overwhelming.
To be honest, it took a lot of fooling around for me to actually crash the plane in this game, and I'm not a pilot at all. Unless you count the times I ran out of runway before stopping the plane because I approached too fast and didn't care to find out how to brake before trying to land a Boeing for the first time... and even that didn't crash the plane.
"On the intercom on a real plane."
And then:
Oh did I said that out loud?!
Then totally quiet.
The actual pilots are humble. The titty nerds are the ultra-wise self-confident. A not so confident pilot tend to stay alive for long, because he tend to be mor prudent.
It's always good to have real- life pilots and racecar drivers, to assess how accurate these simulations are. 👍👍

Alright, someone needs to set-up the proper X-Plane 11 for the pilot here. On a nice i-7, with the correct mods. Navigraph, SimBrief, Boeing ZIBO Mod, proper scenery mods, better Pushback Plug-in, Better ATC plug-in etc, and have him fly a full route. He would fall in love.
Kelsey, I have to agree with shan_rocks here. Get rudders, and throttle controls so you can be more realistic. Boeing ZIBO should also be more like what you're used to. Thanks for sharing this because as a sim-pilot only, I've always wondered how close some of this "sim-ing" is to actually flying in these commercial planes. The default planes are not bad, but with many talented programmers creating more aircraft, you can find better approximations than the defaults. Also, you can set your own key commands in X-Plane 11, so if you don't have reverse thrusters, set them to an easy to reach keyboard command (example ctrl+z). I also use one of my throttle axis' for spoilers. Hope to see more of your flying experiences in X-Plane.
Yes I agree. This game is merely a shell and shadow of the full capacity experience that many mods provide. Almost everyone plays a heavily modded version of the game.
He need to quit real life job for that😂
replace the i7 with a Ryzen and you are in business.

Kelsey, you blink less than a cat, amazing. And your focus when you're watching video is intense. Thanks
More videos like this please. Very interesting to see you at work and hear your live commentary.
The problem is, x-plane's commercial aircraft themselves aren't good (bad fmc, navdata, autopilot, etc.). I suggest getting a recommended aircraft off of x-plane store, they work much better and are more realistic..
It's the Zibo mod he should get. It's the best free plane, way better than any paid plane there.
The SSG 747 is not the best yet though
There's also the option of trying Prepar3D with the PMDG 747-400 which is probably the most realistic 744 simulation out there (except for Aerowinx PSX).
Stoney3K soon the felis 742 and yesaviation 744
@@Stoney3K Maybe, dno how familiar he is with the 737 though but zibo mod starting at the gate would be interesting to watch, having to file a flight plan and everything. He should look up "cptcanada" or "flightdeck2sim" and see how they do it, or just to get inspiration from em!
Doesnt matter that youre messing up in a flight sim. After all you’re flying the real thing!
As far as I can tell, he didn't mess up even half as bad as I did on my first try with the 747 in X-Plane. Obivously a commercial pilot training has to pay out somehwhere. Wonder If he's gonna try FS2020 once it comes out. ;)
Right?? XD hes got nothing to worry about.
Half my landings float so long there are refs out there signaling the extra point is good lol

Many professional pilots who tried to fly their aircraft in a flight simulator could see how much easier it is to fly and operate the real world equivalent.

you can play around making everything from a ultralite powered by a 7hp lawnmower engine to a hopping halfway round the world with a suborbital rocket.

Speedbrake tip: They are usually armed by hitting "speedbrakes up" once the lever is in the neutral position. You can move your view around by dragging with the right mouse button, so you know where it is. A quick thing for controlling the views yourself: W is 3-D cockpit, Shift 4 is orbit (the view doesn't rotate with the aircraft) and Chase (the view *does* move with the aircraft) is Shift 8.
You can find all this stuff under the Keyboard tab in settings or bind select functions to your controllers under the Joystick tab. I recommend that you seach by name instead of going through them since there's a _lot_ of them. I guess the most important things to bind on your yoke would be pitch trim (Trim A and B were added recently for separate switches like on the Honeycomb you've got), the "forward with 3-D cockpit" view so you can recenter easily, "toggle thrust reversers" and probably "speedbrakes toggle" (apart from "hold brakes regular").
I could tell you all this sometime if you want, through Discord or Skype or whatever (you can share your screen in Discord)

Thanks for doing this. The FMS is tricky in Xplane sometimes. You definitely had to get rid of that discontinuity. No idea how you do that IRL, but in X, you want to click on the button of the following waypoint and the discontinuity will vanish.
Selecting the right runway for ILS, just start your session sitting on a run way and bring up the Map (M on the keyboard) and right click on the runway you want and select 10 mile (or 3 mile) approach. You'll catch the GS etc without setting the FD or AP. Cheers
