I am and I was at this show, opening for Aerosmith at the Spectrum in Philly, I was in Section G, Jeff Pilsons side on the stage. I was there to see Dokken and still have the shirt from this tour that I got that night!
The first time I saw them at Magic Mountain, I had no idea they were going to play that night. But I took some awsome close up photos of the band. Fell in love with D.D.❤❤❤❤❤❤

Dokken has always been so underrated as a great heavy metal band. The proof is that their live concerts sound exactly like the studio recordings, I mean not one damn miss. Did you know they didn't even merit a BEHIND THE MUSIC show during the MTV days of great 80s bands? No, they'd rather give one to Poison????? WTF!!!! Dokken had talent and class. I just don't understand. But I'll root for Dokken as long as I have breathe in my body. LLD!!!

Wow, great set. In their prime. Don Dokken will never fully understand how important George Lynch was to Dokken's success. At least half of their audience (maybe more) were in that arena to watch & listen to George Lynch.
Those two belonged together and the you add Wild Mick with his awesome drumming and back up vocals and Jeff playing that Bass and killer back up vocals. They where there for the kill
Yes of course George is pivotal to the Dokken distinctive guitar style but for me it's about the TOTAL package, the romantic, haunting, mesmerizing melodic sound of Don's vocals accentuated by George's guitar playing.
Boy does this bring back memories. I saw them on this tour on Thanksgiving night in Indianapolis. George was and still is the master. Although Don's voice has deteriorated over the Yeats, the songs they made were absolute magic. Back for the Attack is a masterpiece.
I was too young, wasnt able to go to any of their shows during this era but I will go back anytime in a time machine to see this show live. This is a nice way to revisit that era in the meantime though.
I Saw them at Radio City Musical Hall NYC on that tour- supporting Twisted Sister. After the show, over to L’Amours to catch either Loudness or Carnivore (Pete Steele). 💪
Saw Dokken twice at the Spectrum. Great both times and so great to see this with Don sounding amazing live!!! Such an under rated band and love how George just goes apeshit on his fretboard live. Love live music that doesnt sound note for note like the studio versions...sadly such a lost art in today's music. Thanks for posting the whole set. \m/
One of the greatest bands of that whole era imo. George & Don had that same love/hate relationship that Bret/CC had in Poison. It helped fuel the music to it's heights but was so incredibly toxic at the same time

When Dokken was at their very best.The Back For Attack Tour. Man.,right of the gate Lynch is shredding as he definitly did day in and day out. Pilson right beside him plucking that bass and his backing vocals were very underrated. The thundering pound of the drums by Wild Mick Brown., and Don's voice at his melodic best. As Dokken was my favorite band at that time and had been as soon as I heard Breaking The Chains until Don and Lynch broke this band apart with their greddiness, and self absorbed attitudes.Don and Lynch always going at it.,and 1 always trying to out do the other.,that eventually ripped this Great Band apart. IT'S a shame. Lynch did form Lynch Mob and they were really good. But they were not DOkken.,and eventually The original 4 got back together which was awesome but they could never get that full Connection they once had back in Day.,before Greed,Jealousy, and Power lead to the 1st demise of This Great Awesome Band., Dokken could have been Super Huge.
I saw them play support to Accept here in Dublin Ireland in 1986. Two of my favourite bands at the time in a venue that held a couple of thousand. Unforgettable night.
I remember reading an article saying Aerosmith kicked Dokken off this tour after a week or two because they got tired of being blown off the stage by Dokken. Sounds like you’re an eyewitness to that haha

The reason I found this and you might want to send him a thanks is cause Don mentioned it in his interview talking about George coming back and stuff and he said this was one of the happiest days they where together on that show. Most of the time they didn’t feel each other. So that’s cool
The big reason George and Don didn’t get along back then was because George wanted to play more heavy stuff, and Don wanted to do the ballads. In retrospect, George had the right idea.
I know times where changing. But those albums later where good but it didn’t have the Dokken feel. I think heavy was good just needed that harmony to work better.
Such a great band so much talent and so many great songs most of their albums you can just Play and never skip any songs I regret never seeing this lineup, I've seen them with reb Beach and jon Levin both great shows

I was there at this concert at age 17. Still one of the better bands from this era. Just couldn’t understand why they never got the chance to headline. Whatever forces at that time held them back. They would’ve had a long rich career if given the chance. Later in life we know they didn’t get along due to heavy coke usage. 🤘🏻💯

Saw them on this tour in Raleigh. Just noticed George's original Bengal striped parts guitar still has a six-screw trem. Not sure how in the hell he kept it in tune on Lightning Strikes. Impressive. Gotta love George's stacks of dummy Marshalls covered in snakesskin tolex whilst his actual rig sits adjacent in road rack cases. I think his Park head are there along with several of his old Marshall four-holers.
George is my favorite guitarist ever but god damn.. the more and more I hear him live it sounds like he’s trying to figure out what to play for the first time. So disappointing

If it's 1987 they are on tour with Aerosmith as the opening band. I saw this show live in Carbondale, IL at SIU Arena. We had first row, center stage seats. I was more there to see Dokken than Aerosmith. They delivered the goods. Were never the same after this tour.

I never rated him his voice is too soft for this type of music, but he does sound a bit like Klaus from scorpion's here who is awesome.

I loved this band back in the day. Always wondered why they never really hit it big, now I remember why.
If it's 1987 they are on tour with Aerosmith as the opening band. I saw this show live in Carbondale, IL at SIU Arena. We had first row, center stage seats. I was more there to see Dokken than Aerosmith. They delivered the goods. Were never the same after this tour.
One of the first big concerts I saw, I believe it was '86, Judas Priest "Fuel for Life," Dokken opened.
one of the things I really regret is I couldn't see these guys live by the time of Back for the Attack album....
