OH S#!T - as folks are commenting, I dunno how it happened but apparently I must have forwarded a bit instead of going back on my stop - damn! Sorry, old composer fail, again. I think I need a rest......
that's ok, to make up for it, play more clutch ;)
@@thomasemich Without a doubt!!!
@@KeyOfGeebz Check out their cover of Fortunate Son... it will blow your damn mind dude.
Dude....The Regulator. Key it up Geebz 🙂
The Daysleepers - Loved By The Sun
Anathema - Shroud of False / Fragile Dreams
Katatonia - Dispossession
Paradise Lost - The Last Time
Cold - Bleed
Dark Tranquillity - Auctioned
Clutch got their start in the late 80s. The best way to describe them is as the best band you've never heard.
Clutch formed in maryland in 1991 and transnational speedway league came out in 1993
they formed in 91 and played their first show in 92, but close enough 😉
I saw clutch in 98 at the white rabbit in San Antonio. Best damn band ever. I absolutely love clutch.
Clutch!!! My absolute favorite and most-seen band. Pick a Clutch song, you can't go wrong. This absolutely made my day! Do more!!!
You should also check out Lionize. Great band out of Maryland that was the first band that Clutch signed to their Weathermaker Music label. Mummies Wrapped in Money features Neil Fallon (he was also the clown in the video for Mastodon's Blood and Thunder). Plenty of great tracks by them, though, if you ever get a chance to check them out.
One of my favorite parts about the Clutch fanbase is that everyone has a different favorite album and nobody really argues about it. It's just pure rock positivity.
My suggestion to everyone is go see Clutch live!
Hard to argue when they're all bangers.
(Blast Tyrant is mine)
Hell yeah brother, couldn't have said it better. BTW the best is Slow Hole..lol
@@jamescoole Blast Tyrant was mine for a long time, but I think Pure Rock Fury has replaced it. Not that Blast Tyrant is any less great. It still has my favorite Clutch song ever on it, (Ghost) but I go back to Pure Rock Fury a lot more. So many good songs on that record, including Drink to the Dead, which might be my favorite Clutch song behind Ghost.
I've seen Clutch a handful of times starting with the Elephant Riders tour. In my humble opinion, Neil Fallon with his foot on a monitor wedge, his mic in one fist, with the other raised in the air, should be pictured under the definition of Rock and Roll. The fact that they have an album titled Pure Rock Fury is so damn fitting for this band.
When I first heard Clutch I thought “these guys probably kick ass live.” Well they do. Always feel like they’re playing the soundtrack to a biker bar.
I got to see clutch open for Primus two days in a row a few years ago and they turned me into a fan instantly. They’re better live than their albums. I sort of wrote them off before cause what I had heard at the time made me go meh, but they turned me into a fan those two days I saw them live
ruclips.net/video/k5VWrsCf7jU/видео.html - I'll just leave this here
Profits of doom off of Clutch’s Blast Tyrant album with a super cool vibe and bass intro! Definitely one of my favorite bands to see live.
That whole album rips
@@gwalla absolutely.
Dear God yes, please do this one Geebz
Hasn’t left my vehicle CD player in like 10 years
Now you have to listen to "Firebirds", that is the track being led into.
The Sword-Freya! Since we’re going down the stoner metal rabbit hole!
🔥🔥🔥
Cloak of Feathers !!
hell ya
The entire Warp Riders album
Glad I'm not only one who immediately thought of The Sword when he started talking about stoner metal and the "70's sound".
Their drummer John Paul Gastor is amazing. He is one of the drummers who got me into it from a young age. Would also HIGHLY recommend chedk out their more bluesy stuff like something off Robot Hive/Exodus. That whole album is flawless. Land of Pleasant Living or 10001110101
*Gaster, but yeah, he's amazing really cool dude too. He chatted to us for a while while we were waiting to get into the club were they were playing in Hamburg Germany a few years back
Robot hive and blast tyrant are their best work
I had the privilege of driving their drummer to one of their shows after he did a clinic at the Chicago School of Rock a decade ago! Cool dude.
So much yes.
I think burning beard is maybe the best introduction to their sound.
Yea, he heavily inspired me as well on playing drums. Dude is a power house
Clutch’s song Earth Rocker is the one that hooked me! 🔥 🔥 🔥
The Regulator by Clutch is such a great song!! You should absolutely do that one
That's the only one I knew before today. I didnt need another song from that. That one filled the void I never knew I had. NOW I have to listen to all of the songs and pick the best ones :D
Absolutely!
@@muskularchicken enjoy the trip, its a belter
Best rock band ever, in my humble opinion
outside of metal, hands down agree with you
Agreed
100%. Greatest ever.
this isnt an opinion... this is fact.
Clutch - Burning Beard. It was the first song of theirs I heard.
Burning Beard is like the heaviest grooviest shit that they have done imho
Pure Rock Fury is an album that you'd love. Songs with Leslie West from Mountain. Some absolutely beautiful production, and even a "rap" song. Red Horse Rainbow and Immortal are standouts. I've been a fan since 1993.
Seconded......Immortal....careful With that mic......and Red Horse Rainbows best songs ever
So tell me, when you took the practise scholastic aptitude test, did you know the answers or did you guess?
Careful With The Mic is an underrated song.
@@maidentallica ah ha ha ha ha, such a great song. How many times have you seen them in concert?
@@deacongowan117 20 times I think now
most Clutch fan favorites:
Electric Worry, Mob Goes Wild, 1001101, Pure Rock Fury, Soapmakers
some other great cuts:
Gravel Road, Mrs October, Drink to the Dead, Abraham Lincoln
Yes Drink to the Dead thank you !!
Singer of Clutch does the vocals on the bridge section of Mastodons’ “blood and thunder”….
I love that song and I didn't know! Just went and listened to it again and watched the video. Can't believe I didn't catch that. Thanks
His reaction to blood and thunder is the exact reason he's doing a clutch react video.
Neil did some awesome work on Dozer's album Beyond Colossal too.
Yeah thats how he got to this song
@@holdenmcneil3529 “Empire’s End” fucking rules!
Yesssssss! Clutch is the shit. I listen to them as much, if not more than every other band, ever. I've seen them many times and that is where they truly shine. One of the best bands on the planet!
Am I the only Clutch fan who loves the more recent Book of Bad Decisions album? In Walks Barbarella would be a great one to react to.
you’re not, it’s a decent album for sure
In Walks Barbarella would definitely be cool! Book of Bad Decisions is a super solid album.
I dig it. There's not a bad Clutch album yet. They are killer.
The production is deliberately less clean on that one, and took me a while to get over that, but 5 or so songs from that one are in regular rotation for me
yep....you're only one
Hell yeah! You cant go wrong with any Clutch, but definitely check out some older stuff too! Big News I & II would be so dope!
I was just thinking exactly that. He sounded so eager when this one ended, anticipating the next song. The transition from Big News I to Big News II is such a simply clever little recording trick- that'd probably make his day. Almost 30 years, and never heard anyone do it since.
Animal Farm is my favorite from that album.
Go back 30 years and react to A Shogun Named Marcus.
Yeah and try to find them in a track that combines the two for sure!
Yes and please
I don't even care what songs you pick, just please keep reacting to the mighty Clutch!
This
Heavily underrated band! This band is so good 😍
It's hard to go wrong with clutch songs. Robot hive/exodus is my personal fav album.
Listening to old zz top I wonder how much of an influence the older stuff was.
Also they're must see live. They opened for Devin Townsend before..what a wild show that was!
I saw the tour that DTP opened for Clutch, several times... did they switch it up for a show or 2?
seen both and personally, both good live but Clutch was far superior imho.
Quick Death in Texas is pretty much a ZZ Top homage - he even pauses to say, "Please forgive me, Mr. Gibbons"
100% agree on Robot hive/exodus. It's a brilliant record and a shame they moved away from that concept/style so quickly.
Son of Virginia is a cool track too. You should decompose Neil Fallon's lyrics. He's a master storyteller. Check out Careful With That Mic - from early 90s for.a treat
Early 2000's on "careful with that mic" their first albums appeared in the early 90's. That may have been what you meant but I thought I'd clarify.
@@DallasGunther Yes. Thanks. It all feels like a million years ago.
Neil is great with lyrics but I don't think anyone alive right now can match him in weird onomatopoeia creation. Who else can write a chorus in binary and have it be so catchy? I mean even from their first single - "bebop a loo bop a whop sham boo and domo arigato if I got to"
son of virginia is my favorite clutch song
LOVE the band Clutch!! they put on a great live show.
Woohoo! Finally some dusty stoner rock. Other great songs by Clutch: Spacegrass, Big news 1 & 2, El Heffe, Binge and purge.
Other bands worth a listen is Kyuss, Fu Manchu, Queens of the stone age, Hermano and Brant Bjork.
And Truckfighters/Greenleaf
He's done at least one Kyuss song anyway
I like how you think, sir
Best live band ever. Neil completely owns the stage. They look like a substitute math teacher but will melt your face off.
The Soapmakers on Elephant Riders is still one of my all time favs. Really can't go wrong with anything prior to 2010. Their first album is their heaviest. I know the lyrics are your main focus but Yeti has one of the best lines of all time. "One would think that in a life where no two snowflakes are alike one would have a brilliant rhyme for each and every bit of time"
Elephant Riders is a killer album through and through
Also - As they stirred Heaven and Earth, they combined to one,
and everything was everyone and each one was all.
I asked, what the people were doing doing.. he said we're the soapmakers and we are working, working.
Soapmakers is awesome. Elephant riders, Wishbone, Green Buckets....yeah, such a great album. Love 'em all, though. Clutch is THE best!
Still great after 2010. Earth rockers was terrific. And book of bad decisions was as good as anything they’ve done imo
Clutch is groove rock at it's finest. Clutch's song Profits of Doom or Cypress Grove both killer grooves.
Ah yes the journey of Clutch begins!! There sound has definitely evolved over the years. Starts with hard hitting Sabbath induced riffs like Passive Restraints, Juggernaut to Binge and Purge and Space grass. To there newer stuff were there more bluesy and rock. Cypress Grove, Regulator, and Electric Worry. Been listening to them since early 90's, never stopped!!
Started in 94. Saw them in Hagerstown back then. I've seen them out here in SF several times!!
I love me some Clutch. They tour with Mastodon sometimes. They are a great vibe show, especially if you have a gummy bear before going ;)
My band opened up for these guys a ton of times in the mid 90s through the early 2000s. Great band and great guys.
There are literally no bad Clutch songs... although I think "A Quick Death in Texas" could be a good next one.
You have to go really deep into their catalogue for me to find even 1 song I don’t care for much…Gnome Enthusiast I could live without. But every other track is one of my favorites!
It DOES lead into another song, my favorite on the album - Firebirds!
(energy weapons!)
Both of these things are interesting to me.
Check the entire Blast Tyrant album. Great starting point for newer Clutch listeners. Elephant Riders would be great as well.
Profits of Doom, Electric Worry, The Mob Goes Wild, Cypress Grove, The Regulator, Earth Rocker.. Some of their great top tracks to check out. But there are loads more.
Got a suggestion for you, Geebz. Every now and then, same band, every day for the week. A week long dive into a band. It would be stellar! Also, start with Clutch, please!
YESSSSSSS! There are no bad Clutch songs :-D
That's the First Time Clutch Head Bobbing Grin right there.
😂😂😂
You won't regret going through they're catalog. One of my top bands, not a bad song anywhere.
Aloha! Crackerjack by clutch... Totally different to their style... Also elephant riders, a quick death in texas and the big news among many many great songs.
So many great Clutch tunes for your 30-day countdown -- "Burning Beard" from Robot Hive/Exodus is a crowd-pleaser, while "The Regulator" off Blast Tyrant showcases their range quite nicely...
YES! More Clutch Please! The enjoyment is endless.
That “telekinetic DYNAMITE” chorus gives me chills every single time
One of my all time favorite bands. They’re SO much fun in every way.
These guy's are worth the ticket price, they're a band that brings a party vibe. Electric Worry, might be a song of there's you have heard.
Electric Worry by Clutch is awesome.
It's fair that you haven't heard of them. They're one of the best underrated bands out there. I never heard of them until I saw them live supporting Lamb of God just a few years ago.
Those were about my exact same facial reactions the first time I heard X-Ray Visions.....I love these guys!
Yea! Clutch finally a reactor does some Clutch. I started listening to them when I went to college a roommate brought their cd and I was hooked ever since. They're from frederick Maryland, they play the 930 club (nearly) every year around christmas time in DC. I've seen them a few times, lots of great energy in their shows and overall good folks. Neil Fallon has done a few charity live streams in the past year or so while they're not touring. Clutch prior to covid nearly never stopped touring.
Clutch gets better and better the farther back you go in their catalog. Some real jams - Rock and Roll Outlaw, Big News 1 and 2, Tight Like That, Shogun Named Marcus, Elephant Riders, I Have the Body of John Wilkes Boothe. Oh how could I forget Escape From The Prison Planet too :)
I would love to see you do more Clutch reactions, they have a huge catalog of excellent music. I have been a fan since day one, but honestly, i cant name a favorite tune. There is just too many to choose just one. Dragonfly, Firebirds, Soapmakers, Green Buckets, Electric Worry, The Yeti... there are just so many rocking tunes from Clutch!
Clutch is the definition of the best rock band. Over 30 years of music. Same 4 guys they litteraly just tour constantly. The biggest underrated band ever!
Lemmy said ELECTRIC WORRY is Clutch's "Ace of Spades"
BIG grin on my face that you've discovered Clutch ... biiiig back catalogue to discover. Earth Rocker / Ghost / The Regulator and of course, das epic: Electric Worry!
or Burning beard, or 10,000 witnesseses .... too .... many ... to ... choose
Seeing them live is like going to a punk show, a metal show, and a Henry Rollins event all rolled into one.
AHHH I'm so psyched that you did Clutch, what a surprise! They are my absolute favourite, Neil Fallon's voice is so unique. You were spot on about the stoner rock vibes, Spacegrass is a good example of that. I think a track off Pure Rock Fury would engage your 70s music tubes. And my favourite, The Regulator has a different feeling to it. Fun fact, they also did a song which is a recipe for crab cakes, Hot Bottom Feeder. Keep rocking Geebs! 😎
Clutch just celebrated 30 years of music! I saw them in the 90s and huge fan since.. well over 100 amazing songs, you are right it is a build up into the next track, and loved your assessment of them 👍
Love seeing clutch on here. They’ve been kicking ass for so long. They’ve always reminded me of monster magnet another band that’s still kicking.
I think you’d dig something like dc. Sound attack. Great clutch song.
Spacegrass off the first clutch is dope 😂
So many good Clutch songs to dissect brother. Hope we get to see some more !
Amazing band, thanks for doing this! Clutch are amazing live as well. I have seen them 16 times. La Curundera is a personal favorite, Slow Hole to China another and then I would recommend Ship of Gold. Thanks!
Love this. Clutch are so good. They were introduced to me by a great musician as 'the rock band that rock bands listen to' hahaha. So many good songs, Cypress Grove is a killer.
“Electric Worry” is by far their top song. While they toured with Motörhead, Neil Fallon commented to Lenny about how tired he was of performing the song, year after year. Lenny told him he was crazy to NOT perform it, and said it was their “Ace of Spades”! Fallon was so humbled by this, it’s now a regular staple of their live shows!
Commented to *Lemmy*! Autocorrect got me again. But you’ll love the track, along with their entire 30 year catalogue.
This came out in 2015. Amazing live band! I’ve seen them many many times
Imagine my glee when I saw you were doing a CLUTCH song! Top five favorite band, I've seen them live many times. Check out La Curandera and Subtle Hustle for starters. Fallon is a lyrical genius, Sult is a riff master, and Gaster and Maines are one of the tightest rhythm sections in rock history. Pure Rock Fury!
My favorite band to see live! anything off their self titled! thanks Geebz!
Neil Fallon also has a vocal credit on "Blood and Thunder"
Man I have always loved the recordings that Clutch had.
Clutch is one of those bands where you can just put on any song from any album and immediately know it’s Clutch. They’ve never done a “filler” track anywhere, in my opinion - everything is top-notch. For me, Electric Worry is THE banner song in a catalog of banner songs. So glad you’re diving into them!
Legitimately the first Clutch reaction I've seen from reactors I watch. Its my favorite band, I'm so glad to see them get attention! They're very underappreciated. I hope it catches on and they get some traction. Thank you!
Yes, it was a lead into a new song, Firebirds. Psychic warfare is an amazing album built upon a great theme...
Have you checked out Bleed by Meshuggah? Some of the craziest drums ever
yes he has

@@shotaholic1 Damn lol
This band is the epitome of kicking ass.
One of my favorite party bands of ALL TIME. I'd highly recommend their track Cypress Grove, it is one of the most perfect hook-n-groove singalong songs ever created: ruclips.net/video/vNypnY2R11w/видео.html
Well said!
Yessssss, more Clutch pleaseeeeee.
Gotta say, I too was surprised at how long you went without a pause break. Had the stank face and everything! Clutch is some good tunes, brother!
Good choice Geebz and thanks for going with my recommendation!
Very interesting that this was a band where you couldn't help but notice the lyrics - because I think they are lyrically probably the most interesting and elevated band out there right now. And, you know, kick absolute ass.
Perfect comment award
Clutch are awseome!
First heard their stuff on a Louder Than Rock compilation CD, with 'Texan Book Of The Dead'. It was my motivational song in my head for months when I started a new job. :D
Just seen clutch live this past Sunday and they ended with this tune. Still as awesome as ever
I'm so jelly
Sweet! Clutch is epic! Bring it on!
Clutch have had a long career, and some know them as the hardest working band in the business. There aren't any bad songs in their catalog, though some of their older stuff takes getting used to. Check out "Sons of Virginia", "Spacegrass" and their cover of "Fortunate Son"
These guys have so many good tunes. Spacegrass, Big News I, Electric Worry, The Regulator, A Quick Death in Texas. Jeez, I could go on and on.
The song that Clutch caught me with was Burning Beard but the song i mission with is definitely Electric Worry. One of the best live bands ever along with The Hives and The Hellacopters.
Yes Sir, more Clutch please! The Soapmakers, Muchas Veces, The House That Peterbuilt, Burning Beard...too many to list really.
You should definitely check out an older Clutch tune! Big News is a cool double track from their second album, which is a paradigm shift from how they sound here. (I love all Clutch, but older Clutch just has this raw swagger to it, it's so unique.)
Early clutch is the best. Ive seen this band live many times in the 90s. They are one of my favorites. I got into them about '96. They can rock !!
hey hey now, what's that smell?
Just about everything by Clutch is awesome but Robot Hive/Exodus is my favorite album. The songs are quite varied in vibe so I recommend Bearning Beard if you want something more thrashy or 10001110101 if you want something groovy and absolutely bonkers.
You can't go wrong with Clutch, they are the best!!!
Yes pure rock. Clutch is rock and roll in it's freebase form.
Any song you pick by Clutch is a great song. Literally can't go wrong
Fuck Yeah!!! Clutch is the hardest working band in rock, and it's great to see them get in your heart! (But i absolutely get it! They're my 2nd favorite band, after Tool 😉)
This is what happens when a HC punk band from the 90s with a jazz drummer, shifts to stoner metal, adds a keyboardist (RIP Mick!), then you sprinkle in a heaping helping of ZZ Top, Black Sabbath and Motorhead! They've had the same 4 members since they formed in 91, never go more than 2 years without a new album, and have toured literally CONSTANTLY since they came together!
*White's Chapel* - if you want the most original sounding Black Sabbath song that Sabbath didn't write. As hard as it is to pick a favorite, this is top 5 for me
DC Sound Attack - if you got a fever...and you need the cure! 😉
Elephant Riders - I think you'll enjoy...what... it is
Spacegrass (Or Big News I & II) - for that stoner metal itch
Pure Rock Fury - pretty much the whole album
Clutch is one of the rare bands that doesn’t have a stinker song or album. All killer, no filler.
Duuuude! Love Clutch, been listening for years, hard to pick just one song or album but totally go through their catalogue, you'll be impressed
Clutch is always great... Every album varies in sound... They go from "metal" to rock to blues and everything in between.... From Binge and Purge to regulators, to hot bottom feeder... All different and great
"Hot Bottom Feeder" is great! Leave it to Niel to make a song out of a crab cakes recipe.
@@DEATHrocket777 been listening to them since 1st album and 28 years later it still holds up along with the rest... Great band... Funny that Mary Alice from tv show ACE OF CAKES is Neils sister
Jean Paul (JP) Gaster is the drummer in Clutch, and he is a total groove machine. He plays on a simple little kit - Snare, Hi-Hat, Kick, two-toms, a ride and two crashes. I remember seeing one sound engineer talk about JP in a music documentary and he said "JP could hit a phone book with a wooden spoon and you would think 'man, that sounded F-in awesome!"
I would say if you want more Clutch, try Profits of Doom (you would love the bass tone in that one Geebz), I would also take a listen to Elephant Riders (the story of a prince from India who offered the Union Forces elephants to ride into battle during the civil war). Or perhaps The Face or The Wolfman Proudly Presents from their Earth Rocker album. You also can't go wrong with The Regulator, which is a great dark tune that was featured during an early but pivotal episode of The Walking Dead.
Clutch started in mid 90's, and they just kept at it, doing their thing their way. Recording and producing all of their music, even turning down offers from major labels so to always own their music, and have complete freedom. It has payed off as they are the best American rock band right now! Any band that writes a song with the chorus : " Willie Nelson only smokes Killer Weed" deserves a listen! :)
It sounds like stoner rock because it is! I'm so glad you're diving into this genre and I hope you do lots more because it's obviously the best!
So glad to see you do a clutch track! They have so many more, if you want to go down that rabbit hole. I personally love the blues and funk elements they sneak into such a heavy rock sound. Incredible band
I agree 100%
The video for X Ray Vision is awesome too. Now that you mentioned Black Sabbath, Paranoid comes to mind when hearing X Ray Vision.
