"Marcus" is one of the big crowd pleasers live that gets the whole audience to explode. I've gotten to see Clutch on just about every album cycle since this album. Getting to hear them evolve over the last 30+ years has been amazing. One of the most underrated bands out there. On my short list of the "Best Bands You've Never Heard in Your Life" with King's X, Fishbone and a couple others.
And, yeah, there's a video for "A Shogun Named Marcus" and it's a trip.

Old Clutch sounds like this, raw, aggressive and typically cryptic. New Clutch is more bluesy, still silly and sometimes cryptic, but drastically different. I love all of it. Binge & Purge, Impetus or Big News 1 & 2 for older stuff.

Burning beard is the song that made me fall for Clutch . I also see a connection between the church in the video and their live performances as i always get the feeling that Neil Fallon really preaches to the audience. I absolutely love that! Clutch is my absolute favourite live band along The Hives and Hellacopters. Full throttle from start to finish!

Clutch is the hardest working band in rock and roll. Straight up. This is from their super early days (they were literally teenagers). They've grown into a much more sophisticated rock band, but are still every bit as fun as they were then. Check out "the Face," "Book Saddle and Go," "Animal Farm," "Spacegrass," "In Walks Barbarella," "Dragonfly," "Ghost," "Our Lady of Electric Light," "A Quick Death in Texas..." You literally can't go wrong with these guys.

Early years were heavy, punky almost. Strange cousins, beale street have a buzzy bluesy feel and the newer stuff has a little more refined rock sound.
Songs to check out, Binge and purge, Nickle dime, Pigtown blues, Basket of Eggs, Elephant Riders, Muchas Veces, Soapmakers, Dragonfly, Psychic warfare, Ghoul Wrangler, there's hundred of songs spanning 30 years. Enjoy the ride! I'll watch for more of the Almighty CLUTCH reviews. Unlike any band you've ever encountered. Read their backstories, get a feel for the band, you'll fall in love w them. 🤘🤘 Rock on and thank you for bringing attention to my favorite band. 👍

Clutch aged so gracefully as a band. Back in the early days they were so aggressive and in your face, and as they got older and better in terms of musicianship, they turned into smooth rocking wizards. Even their stage presence is interesting. Neil Fallon had a neck injury that stops him from headbanging like he used to, but that's evolved his style into a rock-preacher. They almost sermonize their music when they play and it fits so well. And the rest of the band is so confident that they can basically do no wrong. J.P. Gaster and Dan Maines can go from jazzy grooves to thrashing punk style playing, while Tim Sult can chug, do some psychedelic weirdness, or bang out some of the best more relaxed solos. Then of course Neil's voice is monstrous. He has the gravel to do a lot of their older stuff still, while being able to still sing and croon a bit. Lyrically he has a great sense of humour, mixing a lot of mythical elements with Americana and political stuff.
As a side note, Neil provides vocals on Mastodon's Blood and Thunder track, and his voice embodies the mania of Captain Ahab hunting the white whale perfectly. He also did some vocals with bands like Dozer and Volbeat. Clutch is like every band's favourite band.
Here's a few songs per album that I recommend, even just listening to on your own to enjoy: Spacegrass, Escape from the Prison Planet, Elephant Riders, Wishbone (very silly yet badass song), the original Basket of Eggs (the acoustic one is also great), Pure Rock Fury, The Regulator, Mice and Gods, Burning Beard, Rapture of Ridley Walker, Abraham Lincoln, 50000 Unstoppable Watts, Cyborg Bette, Crucial Velocity, Behold the Colossus, Doom Saloon, Hot Bottom Feeder (the video is fantastic), and finally Weird Times, because it's fitting.

YES 🙌 Clutch is a band I’ve listened to since finding them in the early 90’s. Check out Space Grass for more “early” stuff or anything off of Psychic Warfare for newer stuff. Actually, just check out their whole catalog 🤘

I would love to see a slow burn on Clutch. They have a large catalogue to choose from. Keep up the great work Jeebs.

I don't know why but i keep thinking of primus because of the style of this song. Love that guitar and bass tones. Lol looks like you thought the same about primus.

Anything from their first 2. Spacegrass is fun. There was a stage in my life where I listened to alot of Clutch and Kyuss.

Clutch is often considered "Dad Rock". They did a live stream concert last year. I think they did three sets, they are all outstanding and it's great to see them perform.

      Who calls them that?!?!
They were stoner rock when they hit the scene.
