Both Peter Cullen and Steve Blum [voice of TOM] were/are still my childhood idols! Its because of these two that I kept watching Toonami during its glory days. When I heard it was coming back on Adult Swim, I was SO happy!
@@LockeLynx I met Steve Blum last year. I even took a picture with him and got an autograph. He was truly a wonderful guy and I can tell he loves his work and fans.
I was just thinking the same the other day. The people behind the early 2000s Toonami trailers and intros was a talented, brilliant group of video editors.
@@megalon84 I'm glad they put drum & bass & breakbeat genre that was still big at the time to use. No other genre carries animation hype from that era as well as it did
When he fights the Ace Zeon pilots and he lifts a whole section of highway and tells him "be afraid of someone who really knows how to pilot a mobile suit" sent shivers to me as a kid who always rooted for the main character
its funny how I find myself liking both this one and Gundam Wing. This one being a crisp 12 episodes while the latter is almost 50 lol. But even with its pacing issues the character/Gundam designs are awesome and the war and peace themes are really well done.
What I loved about this series was just how grounded it was. If they were to make any adaptation into a live action movie, I would want to see this one
I know, right? It felt like an actual war fought by people that went to a recruiter in the local mall, and enlisted into the military, or entered into the contract to have the military pay for college, for a 5 year commission. No super powered kids that were immediately an Ace when they touched the controls for the first time. Regular people, fighting in a real war. Similar reason why I loved Rogue One. Rogue One made Star Wars feel like a WAR. It was the first time we saw normal people fighting in the Galactic Civil War. No Jedi or Sith. Just normal people and their hard earned skills.
@@chriscueva1866 Not Really, when it Comes to Gundam General Fans it is Quite Popular. But in General, Like Anime fans or Casuals, UC is kinda underrated.
As a 90's kid, this show confused me to no end when it came out having no context of the larger canon of Gundam beyond Wing back then. One Year War? Zakus? Zeon? What's all this?!
"As Zeon and Federation forces march towards oblivion, the secret love of two enemies may be mankind's only hope for peace." I wish, Optimus. But now. The war went on. And on. And on...
I own the DVD collection of the 8th MS Team along with several other anime DVDs. Its great!! One of the Gundam anime that got me into the Gundam franchise as a kid in the 90s. Toonami alternated between 8th MS Team, the 1st half of G Gundam, and eventually added the original Mobile Suit Gundam to the lineup by 2003 to replace Gundam Wing i believe. By that point, DBZ was replaced by DBGT on the Toonami block. I think 8th MS Team replaced Gundam Wing on the Toonami block as i never got to watch Gundam Wing on Toonami until I watched Gundam Wing online. They never aired multiple Gundam anime during the late afternoon/early evenings on the Toonami block and always alternated between the more popular ones. I own several Gundam anime DVD sets. I have 8th MS Team, Zeta Gundam, Gundam Seed, Gundam Seed Destiny, Gundam Wing, and G Gundam. I hope to acquire Gundam 00 and maybe even Mobile Suit Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans. And maybe even Gundam Unicorn as well.
ive decided to watch toonami promos of Gundam series before watchin the actual show.I did it for G Gundam Fighter and I loved that show, watching this got me hype to start this new show
Looks like it was released on blu-ray in Japan but I don't think there's an English version on blu-ray. I'm pretty sure Metroidman7 used the Japanese DVDs for this promo. But If you're interested in watching the blu-ray episodes with the English audio synced to it, check out the OZC Anime site.
Damn this series was awesome! Shame I couldnt get into it back then given what I was going through. 90's early 2000's were the shit when this version of toonami was on! Love the vids, as a novelist, alot of these shows on many of their promos helped me to become the writer I am today. Thanks SlimD716
Yeah sorry for not uploading as much lately. As you know, in the beginning of the year I was on a roll for putting out new videos. But in doing so I kinda burned myself out lol. I just did so much at once I wanted to take a break. But also most of the stuff I want to do, I don't have yet like G Gundam, One Piece, Naruto, Teen Titans, Super Friends and Zatch Bell. Also, there's a girl I've been seeing that's eating a lot of my time too lol.
I miss Toonami's Midnight Run. I was actually pissed the night I turned on Cartoon Network and saw that it had been replaced by Adult Swim. That was until I first saw Cowboy Bebop and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. LOL
I love explaining why this series is my favorite to people, "So guys imagine vietnam... but with gundams..."
you have my attention...
Damn you nailed it
Basically
Yup
With some Romeo and Juliet thrown in for no discernable reason. But it still works.
Petter Cullen, anime visuals, and 90s style drum n bass are an unbeatable combo
SIEG ZEON
IMPECCABLE
3 ingredients to a perfect 90s animation promo.
The late 90s early 2000s😊
Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) narrating for Gundam. I love my childhood even more.
MarvelandDC379 The man did for anime promos what Don LaFontaine did for movie trailers.
I knew he sounded like Peter Cullen!

I'd figure America would take an interest in the Gundam franchise, considering the fact that Gundams bare such a striking resemblance to Prime.
Man, Toonami had the best promos. They could make anything look awesome.
missing from today!!!
***** Not that 08th MS Team needed the help. :D
+LieutenantAlaki Wing sure did
+pikistikman Nope. Swing and a miss.
cbh148 There's no way in hell kids were gonna watch that shit past episode 10 without Toonami's promos.
You don't even need to be into gundam, it's that good.
8th MS team has some of the best polish in general animation history. Likely why it was so short.
I don’t even see how you could NOT be into Gundam with trailers like this.
Hearing Optimus Prime talk about Gundam is the most bizzare thing to ever enter my ears.
I, Optimus Prime have a dream
He’s just narrating the things he saw while in earth
Isn't it awesome

Proof that nothing gets you more HYPE than a Toonami trailer.

lol xD

The best Romeo and Juliet adaptation ever produced
And it has a happy ending

All the Gundam series with 8 in their titles are great
One of the series of all time
This show was so freakin' amazing! Was sad to know it didn't go further because one of the producers/creators/writers died during production.
Apparently that was the manga adaptation, and that was almost 10 years after the show.
Peer Cullen is the most perfect narrator there ever was for anime! He got me into anime I'd never think I'd like!

Peter Cullen promoting one of my favorite shows.... Can't get more epic than that.
The single best Gundam series ever created. Period.
My god I describe how much I loved 08th MS.
Toonami promos hit so hard
I think this show and Gundam 0083: Stardust Memories that Came on Toonami Midnight Run were underrated
and dont forget 0080
i think all 3 of those ovas are widely considered the best gundam has to offer

0083 was Adult Swim Action not Midnight Run.
Happy reminder to anyone who may not know that the entire 08th MS Team series is currently free to stream on YT.
Ah Toonami, the gateway to anime for so many kids growing up in the US
To be honest. This promo is what sold me to Gundam when I was a kid, watching Gundam for the first time.
This was the most realistic Gundam show.
War in the pocket but this one is also great
At last! This was my favorite commercial on Toonami!! Thank you so much for uploading it! The wait was totally worth it!
08th MS Team is soooooo good
One of the other chilling things will no doubt see the flash of a Zeon suit's Mono-eye and the startup sound. Example - 0:42
Dig in.
This is what kids are missing these days, they need to be watching this instead of those modern cartoons
This series has one of the best fights, not just in Gundam, but anime period.
the one dislike guy doesn't appreciate the power of a Gundam.
Still one of the top 5 best Gundam stories to this day.
