    • @Tirgo69
      @Tirgo69 2 года назад +8

      Toonami promos made the Saban Dub of DBZ seem so much more intense than it actually was, closer in line with the original tone of the series before Saban had to lighten the series up to allow it to be aired in syndication. Nappa annihilates a city. The Saban Dub quickly adds a line to explain that nobody was harmed in the explosion and they all evacuated in time. Toonami just played the clip without comment.

      yes I am more than aware it is back on, but the only problem with that , which I am sorry because I didn't specifically mention in my first comment, is that the Toonami premiere time is only on Saturday-Sunday at midnight hours as opposed to the daily 2-hr run at 4 - 6 pm it had from 1997-2004. which is something that many grew up with.

    Gundam Wing was the first animu I really became a fan of.
    I remember building a model Wing Gundam set back then, and I was only like 14.

      GrievousCommander And now look at the insane amount of Gunplas out there. There's even games based off of Gunpla! That being said.... hype for Gundam Breaker 4.

    I was just transfering all my old stuff to a new pc like I always do. Looking through the various pictures and mp3's I have accumulated from decades past. I saw the audio I ripped from this or another version of this from back in the day. I listened to it and still remembered almost all the words and how it felt to watch this as a kid. The video is even more amazing and beautiful than I remembered it. Thanks for keeping these HD remastered toonami segments up. It's a real nostalgia blast for a lot of our childhood's golden age.

    Picture it. You're on a date, you go out and look at the stars, and your instantly Rizz increases when you take her hand and say, "I wonder how long I'll be able to see the moon like this"

    I think the part that sold me on this video back then was the initial clip from Gatchaman, which I knew as G-Force. I was already watching Gundam, but something about seeing G-Force and Gundan mixed together in this hip-hoppy 100% vibey groove pulled my world together back then somehow. I wish my world had that same clarity now. *feels bad that anime cartoons provided clarity when the agency of adulthood apparently doesn't*

    My friends and I used to go to each other's houses, do our homework by 3:30, then hunker down to watch at 4, every day without fail.
    I don't watch anime any longer and haven't for years, but I will never deny Toonami's place in my childhood. It taught me to be brave as Saiyans, resolute as Sailor Scouts, clever as Gundam pilots, and to always be prepared for anything (like space pirates).
    I truly pity kids today who don't have Toonami, because the shows they have now will never come close.

    Dont give up toonami faithful, We can still bring toonami back. Theres a petition for toonami on a facebook page called "Petition to bring back toonami" its looking pretty good, we all should sign it and spread the word about it. This is our chance fellow toonami faithful, this is our moment to revive those shows that made us dream, those deep promos that made us creative and insightful. Toonami crafted the artistic, well rounded people we are today don't give up, there's strength in numbers.

    Watching this promo as a kid left me in a trance. GW was one of my favorite shows at the time but this promo went beyond cartoons for me. There was some hidden message that eluded me and continues to elude me to this day. But still, this video always gets me thinking about so many different things and that's why I miss Toonami.
