My god, Toonami truly was the absolute coolest thing in the world. We were spoiled back then. Had NO idea how good we had it.
Jeremy Burge facts! 100%
Jeremy Burge we had no idea
for real id give anything to have something this quality nowadays
We knew it was good. We didn’t know how rare that kind of goodness was :)
Big fncking facts.
This wasn't a commercial to sell something, or even tease a new show....it was basically just a music video Toonami made for us. The feels man....
Revolver Ocelot exactly it was just for the fans straight up quality content
Revolver Ocelot always gonna stick with me forever shit was so unique even a little thing can trigger a memory of the vibes i used to get off this shit
A group of music videos which could inspire our young minds.
Legit felt like this inspired us all to look into Space and wonder about the cosmos.
It's a promo for gundam wing but ok
Commencing tearful nostalgia operations.
"Perhaps there was an age where people dreamed of the possibilities in the outer space."
Love that line.
It’s even more amazing all these years later
quatre's heavy breathing made this for me.
It STILL gives me chills. The music stops and everything is as dead silent as it would be in space and all you hear is his breathing, which is done so well that it perfectly conveys all of the character's emotions without facial expressions, words, gestures, or even movement.
EclipseHedgehog Anyone know which episode this scene is from?
+EmuKiller It's from Episode 24, just after Quatre destroys an OZ satellite.
Yeah, him going crazy was the turning point of the show, really.
Also, Brad Swalie is an amazing voice actor.
Cartoon Network used to go so hard for us just because. Man I miss this so much it hurts. The effort they used to put in, man. So many late nights up watching this 🌙🪐✨
Nothing quite like uncut midnight run! They made programming ...
So true man....
Hate the English dubs all you want, but you can't deny how awesome these promos are.
Gundam Wing actually has a decent dub and I prefer subs usually. And rewatched sub and dub as 29 yr old and think that
Toonami promos made the Saban Dub of DBZ seem so much more intense than it actually was, closer in line with the original tone of the series before Saban had to lighten the series up to allow it to be aired in syndication. Nappa annihilates a city. The Saban Dub quickly adds a line to explain that nobody was harmed in the explosion and they all evacuated in time. Toonami just played the clip without comment.
dubbed gundam wing had good voice actors, i generally prefer original language for anime.
@@Tirgo69 thats not really the dubs fault its just a tv version thing. Dbz was censored like that on every channel except adult swim, CN had it, nicktoons had it, its just a compromise thats necessary to introduce people.
English dubs were good until after 2009. Now it's just VAs that try to mimic Japanese dialects and end up being pure cringe.
What is it about hip hop beats and old anime that makes them blend together so well?
+Wake N Bake right?? that boom bap vibe complemented anime perfectly back then straight up
+Wake N Bake Toonami's old-school cool vibe is just so well done
Toonami wrought magic. They used the right sounds for the right moments.
Trip hop and d&b
And thus Samurai Champloo, Kung Faux and Wu Tang. I mean the list could go on. Asians and African Americans have something in common more then what people think.
Anyone remeber the Midnight Run (uncut) episodes they show of Gundam and DBZ? Who else used fo stay up til 2am watching these show? Lol.
Boy, I blame midnight run for sleeping through so many parts of middle and high school.... Lol
Robert Agtang ,Jr I did and I got in trouble for it by my mom lol
"Sleep is for the weak" y'all remember that! Toonami needs to be like a Phoenix and come back with the same good shows. Now is junk.
They also Show new episodes of anime, then they would just be repeats during the day time. I remember i felt like hot shit while watching DBZ, since my friends would watch it after school. They'd be like, "man, I can't wait to see that fight when Goku finally joins the battle"! Then I'd be like, "I've already seen it on midnight run".
@@EvaOwnsAll I was already in high school at this point but I did the same. Lol
stuff like this inspired me to become an engineer, which is what I am going to school for, 3 semesters left!!!. the robotics, the imagination involved in the capabilities of technology, the design and architecture of the cities in these animes. And Cartoon network got rid of this anime block. I feel bad for todays youth. It's times like these when I recollect my memories of old school Toonami. We didn't know how good we had it back then.
yes I am more than aware it is back on, but the only problem with that , which I am sorry because I didn't specifically mention in my first comment, is that the Toonami premiere time is only on Saturday-Sunday at midnight hours as opposed to the daily 2-hr run at 4 - 6 pm it had from 1997-2004. which is something that many grew up with.
Christopher Brown well I'm a kid and I can mostly stay up to watch toonami and me and my friend talk about Gundam dbz hunter x hunter and more so.....
***** oh! Sorry I didn't see the most at first I'm blind as a bat :-P
***** but I just wish there were Gundam figures
***** yah its cool :-P
This was my life in the 90's.
Incidentally, this is now my life again.
Tywin Lannister I wish I was a boy growing up in the 90’s, there’s something about the shows and things like that which are really cool.
@@drixvy731 same brother im 16 yo and man i find this to be the coolest shit in the world
If you were growing up around 1998-2005, Toonami was the place to be. The best way to describe it is saying it felt like an event, not just a program. It made anime feel really cool to watch with a great host in T.O.M leading the way.
@@superdupersubby Super facts
Same brother
"Never forget how beautiful the Earth looks from afar."
Every night on CN I watched this back in Y2K. Watched DBZ, Gundam, Tenchi, all of them. I was stationed in Alaska, so hearing this beat on those cold icy nights, made it more intense and chilling
I remember, like it was just yesterday. Coming from school, Gundam Wing would start at 5 PM. And my brother and I would watch it religiously. I can't believe how long it has been. I don't understand how time can go by so quick. Nostalgia is truly a blessing.
This was my exact situation.
Me and my brother would get home around 3 to 4 pm, run off the bus, sometimes hit the corner store up the street before going home and load up on snacks in preparation for DBZ, Gundam Wing, Sailor Moon, Ronin Warriors.
It was great times to be a kid then. The early 2000's literately was the last generation of the old world before phones and social media blew up.
We still played manhunt and went outside back then with all the neighborhood kids.
Sometimes we didn't even watch Toonami if they were reruns. We were outside until like 8pm hanging out looking or trouble to get into lol.
@@xBloodXGusherx I was right there too!! Also I can't believe the OP comment is 8 years old... Time is FLYING.
@@KC_Smooth
Ya man...time is flying very fast!
@@xBloodXGusherxdescribed my childhood right there as well although I spent with friends and skipped Sailor Moon because I wouldn’t get caught dead watching that back then😂
Haha!
Ya def didn't tell any kids at school I watched Sailor Moon.
Would never hear the end of it.
Now that I think on it that show was kinda cheesy haha!
I reminded me so much of Power Rangers. Didn't care who knew I watched that one lol!
@@JF-bv6vc
"It's so quiet....."
"Talented people are capable of understanding us." Gundam Wing = now and forever my personal Toonami representative.
justin williams What episode is this quote from?
Liberal Shimmering i want to say episode 20.
I liked Toonami okay enough (I wasn't a DBZ fan like my friends were, but Voltron was pretty cool) before Gundam Wing, but once Gundam Wing hit I was 100% sold.
It’s so true though talent recognize talent just like losers band together and try to make people with talent seem like they have none
That stuttered breath of Quatre after destroying a colony in Wing 0...chills.
they don't make commercials like this anymore.
Whoever did the music this deserves an award.
@Tyler Braden Tommy Guerrero actually.
@@IAmInfinitus208 word tommy guerrero is the man love that dude
I know this is over 15 years old...still gives me goose bumps! SO GOOD!
This is the best English dub voice acting ever. Incredible.
Toonami wasn't just about the shows. It was an experience from start to finish.
I... have been looking for this for years. Literally. I was in so much shock when I finally found it that I cried. Yes, I cried. This held memories that I've been looking for for years now and I cried because I can now recall them.
This was by far my favorite among all that I have ever seen and I'll probably tear up seeing it every time now. This was my childhood,.
I know how you feel. This particular promo makes me tear up at times too. It's beautifully put together and brings back so many great memories. This video here is truly something special.
SlimD716 I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.
iknow how you feel. teary eyed too
yeah gundam wing was the shit
It's okay Chris, you're surrounded by talented people here. We get you~ ❤
Outlaw Star may not be the best anime ever made, but it will always be my favorite.
DudGuyver it is...nd I'm not running anymore...i didn't get it for myself b4 until today...
It’s a stunning show no doubt. Easily my favorite
Outlaw Star is in my all time top 3. Such a good show!
Just keep running away?!!................. I'm not running..
Same, and so many people haven't heard of it!
That scene when he starts breathing in space still gives me chills to this day!!!
time to rewatch Gundam wing
Available on Hulu
I remember this! Miss the old CartoonNetwork!
You and me both.
The golden era of Toonami and the gateway to the Gundam series such fond memories 😭
Definitely. I love this beat. One of my fave Toonami tracks for sure.
This needs to back on at 4pm again every damn day of the week and twice on tuesday
These were amazing then and still amazing now
Man, I REALLY miss toonami. It was animes like DBZ and gundam wing that got me into the japanese anime scene. #bringbacktoonami
The pinnacle of old Toonami. I miss it and old school Tom. I would pay for a 3.99 service for a 24 hrs Toonami app.
I honestly gotta say, my childhood was amazing all thanks to Toonami
I love the DBZ part..."KEEP'ER GOIN'!"
The sound off the shuttle entering the atmosphere at the end just gives me the feels
"Will you come with me?"
"Where to?"
"Outer space..."
As a big adult now this puts tears in my eyes....childhood memories enough. I cant even put it into words....my body just keeps getting chills. Sigh. I would give so much to relive these days again, unchanged. Even the part with Qatra made me stop and breath so heavy.
I’m 32 and had to look this up today because I realized how much I miss the old Toonami and their promos
I cant believe i watched this as a kid because it was so profound. I really thought i watched dumb things bacjk in the day. This show inspired me to be the best I could be.
john vidal never thought of it like that fuckin captain planet type shit lol
My fav part has to be the epic shot of vegeta
The creators of these toonami promos should be in a hall of fame! Always love these! Vegeta looking badass for that 1sec in outer space lol ❤
What if one day in the future, NASA is finally sending people to Mars and on their way there, they see a old ship, that somehow appears new and technologically advanced, as the astronauts approach the ship, it is bumpin DnB so hard even Houston can hear it. NASA attempts to communicate with the ship, and a voice recording is intercepted. The message says, "Stay Gold".
So many great memories!
The music and the mixing was just next level. I can never forget how cool it was when toonami started up on TV.
Watching all these...shit just commercials people, make me sit here and get so damn emotional, just watching this stuff back in the day with my brother, and how I miss those kind of days and how simple it was. The joy to react to these simple things...God I miss the past.
There’s a jinx, that once you have laid eyes on a Gundam, you won’t live to tell about it. Be grateful we had Toonami, and that we are still alive to tell our children of what we saw.
Oooh, this gives me chills... It still gives me chills, even ten years later...!
TALENTED PEOPLE ARE CAPABLE OFF UNDERSTANDING US!
so true
headtonix What Gundam Wing episode is this from?
thank you for uploading this
Anyone else get to :44 seconds and start breathing with Quatre?
yes... I do when I need to calm down.
Yep good times.
each and every single time
Why was he breathing like that?
@@DrezzyEFTP gotta watch the episode but it's after he used Wrong Zeros main buster rifle.
90s babies had the best come up idc id give anything to go back to these days
Toonami was ahead of it's time. God bless anyone that had anything to do with early toonami
Still my all time favorite toonami promo.
To outer space! EVERYONE OF US!
Will you come with me?
Where to?
Outerspace...
Gundam Wing: Wow blast from the past!
Toonami audio remixing was so good
All these years later and this little promo is still the absolute Greatest. Pure artistry. The best never get the awards.
00:42 has to be one of my favorite scenes and fondest memory of this, thanks for sharing been reviewing throughout the years
2022. Listen to that lofi breaking through. History literally happened with us. Toonami set the course.
Gundam Wing was the first animu I really became a fan of.
I remember building a model Wing Gundam set back then, and I was only like 14.
GrievousCommander And now look at the insane amount of Gunplas out there. There's even games based off of Gunpla! That being said.... hype for Gundam Breaker 4.
I was just transfering all my old stuff to a new pc like I always do. Looking through the various pictures and mp3's I have accumulated from decades past. I saw the audio I ripped from this or another version of this from back in the day. I listened to it and still remembered almost all the words and how it felt to watch this as a kid. The video is even more amazing and beautiful than I remembered it. Thanks for keeping these HD remastered toonami segments up. It's a real nostalgia blast for a lot of our childhood's golden age.
Classics.....timeless nostalgia feels
These Lo-Fi toonami bumps were truly a meditative experience in Middle School.
So much memories I was only 13 lol
Picture it. You're on a date, you go out and look at the stars, and your instantly Rizz increases when you take her hand and say, "I wonder how long I'll be able to see the moon like this"
The peak of Cartoon Network programming. I miss it so.
I was 6 when this first aired. And I still remember it.....
I think the part that sold me on this video back then was the initial clip from Gatchaman, which I knew as G-Force. I was already watching Gundam, but something about seeing G-Force and Gundan mixed together in this hip-hoppy 100% vibey groove pulled my world together back then somehow. I wish my world had that same clarity now. *feels bad that anime cartoons provided clarity when the agency of adulthood apparently doesn't*
My friends and I used to go to each other's houses, do our homework by 3:30, then hunker down to watch at 4, every day without fail.
I don't watch anime any longer and haven't for years, but I will never deny Toonami's place in my childhood. It taught me to be brave as Saiyans, resolute as Sailor Scouts, clever as Gundam pilots, and to always be prepared for anything (like space pirates).
I truly pity kids today who don't have Toonami, because the shows they have now will never come close.
these bumpers are so special, & oh so beautifully remastered. YES!
the nostalgia runs rampant!
Fkin phenomenal the best beat ever Toonami ever put out.
Man... this takes me back to eating microwaved Dorito nachos, drinking mountain dew with my KoRn posters on the wall. Best days of our lives! lol
i actually have this commercial on a VHS tape. i'm so happy i used to record toonami
"Right...but it'll be..it'll be dangerous..."
So many memories... this one was always my favorite promo on Toonami. Thank you :)
Makes me want to cry. That was the golden age to be a kid. Cereal dodgeball cutting edge candy. Best toys.
Man Toonami had the best promos I have ever seen. I still frequently quote things I have heard in the promos I watched way back when.
yoooo I used to have my vcr ready to record this beat when it came on!! me and the boys used to rap to this! lol. Brings back memories
How did this get any dislikes? Its perfect
Keep er' goin'...
Dont give up toonami faithful, We can still bring toonami back. Theres a petition for toonami on a facebook page called "Petition to bring back toonami" its looking pretty good, we all should sign it and spread the word about it. This is our chance fellow toonami faithful, this is our moment to revive those shows that made us dream, those deep promos that made us creative and insightful. Toonami crafted the artistic, well rounded people we are today don't give up, there's strength in numbers.
2021 crew??? 90’s babies??? We still in here 👋🏾🤓😏
For sure this was one of the good old days that has been long gone, and needs to come back
:45 - :53 still gives me chills :)
A true masterpiece among Toonami's many marvelous promos. To me, this music video and maybe "Walking Stick" encapsulate the Golden Age of Toonami.
Came here because was reminded of it because of "Space Force"
ME TOO!
"Looks like we won't have any interference this time."
Famous last words
You know your a 90's kid when you use to stay up for the midnight run on Toonami.
Thumbs up.
This brings me back to my youth. I miss my youth.
Watching this promo as a kid left me in a trance. GW was one of my favorite shows at the time but this promo went beyond cartoons for me. There was some hidden message that eluded me and continues to elude me to this day. But still, this video always gets me thinking about so many different things and that's why I miss Toonami.
Nostalgia hits hard on this one God I miss old school Toonami good times.
I want to believe that Elon Musk saw this promo, and this was the inspiration for Space X...
i used to have this mp3 years ago. these promos are awesome.
Right in the feels.
YES THIS BUMP WAS LIFE!
I missed you toonami.. Welcome back to my life.
Toonami is back and here to stay! Long live Toonami!!!!!
Ahh..Good memories of old Toonami. Thanks to Toonami is why i got into anime in the first place.
-Bang
when you can watch this with you whole family, it's the shit. im 23, and my dad got me hip to all of this before toonami but man, was this block special. adult swim was boss for running this today.
