Yeah, it's been a very long time since its heyday when Toonami was at its absolute peak of mainstream popularity around the United States in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
@@mattwo7 megatron ain't the one talking. Optimus is and in a tone that states it as something that will happen rather than something that could happen left unchecked.
Peter Cullen voiceover, the sick beat in the background and editing of various clips pulls it all together. "Advanced Robotics" was Toonami at it's finest
To this day, Toonami is the only place that I've ever been able to watch "The Big O" and I will forever be thankful for that, one of the best Giant Mech anime's I've ever seen
Oh yeah, this one always stuck out to me as a kid. Where other Toonami bumpers were about strength, courage, believing in yourself, and overcoming the odds, this one was just "Robots are coming and they'll kill us all." Chilling, I loved it haha
I don't think we give enough credit to Peter Cullen for narrating a lot of the promos for Toonami. He was legit the voice of the block outside of Steve Blum. I want him to come back one more time for new Toonami
Nostalgic as it is, I find it funny that most of the footage used is from manned machines but very little footage is used for the actual unmanned units (namely the Mobile Dolls Virgo and Taurus from Gundam Wing)
@@gundam5281 Especially once they started clumping them together in 3s. Nearly impossible to approach for most, and very difficult even for the Gundam team.
...and so began my love for mecha after seeing this promo 20 years ago. Never looked back. Musical Edits by Skateboarders and hip hop fans, Voice Actors dedicated to their craft. One of a kind experience and Peter Cullen was the icing on the cake.
I stayed watching when I was a kid on up . Tell it was stopped and Adult Swim started. Toonami was a staple for me .Big O ,Gundam, Outlaw Star was my favorites. My childhood 😊.
Gosh, these promos... It's like going back in time. The world was a much simpler place back then, or at least it felt that way. These shows were an escape for me from a harsh reality. I miss them and I really hope a new generation can find the same joy in them that we all did.
When I was a teen I used to love these little promos I used to say holy s*** this is amazing it always gave me goosebumps the think about the now it's amazing after 25 years that still so goddamn good so cheers the next 25 years and the next generation of animators dudes and misses out there watching this Thank you TOONANI ^_^
I can still recite this entire monologue VERBATIM. “This little mud-ball of a planet is doomed anyway.” A little scary, but the COOLEST line in the whole thing!
This promo always made me sad, because Gundam Wing and Outlaw Star had been rotated off Toonami's schedule by the time it aired; but there the footage was, teasing the kid me in a pre-RUclips era. :(
Even though you can find digital copies if you know where to look, I am jealous of everyone who landed a copy of "Toonami: Deep Space Bass". A lot of the bump music ended up on that album.
THIS COMMERCIAL! Oh, the nostalgia has hit me like a semi-truck. I grew up on a bunch of DBZ VCR tapes recorded by my brothers and this was one of the trailers on them. I must have seen it hundreds of times. Sadly, the tapes have long since been lost so to see this again has made me all sorts of emotional. Thank you so much for blasting me into the past. Here's to another 25 Years of Toonami!
Cowboy Bebop and Big O went right over my head when I was a kid watching them air for the first time. Saw them again when I was deployed as an adult and they weren't even recognizable. Now Bebop is a close second for me, only to Berserk of course.
I've missed this so much. I use to love staying up late late watching AS anime. There's streaming services now but this was a whole mood and vibe. Plus this was so much better at introducing anime to western audiences.
With each passing day this becomes more and more relevant. Time will tell if humanity survives its own creation. ( Edit: Also Toonami was so badass back then. it will have a place in my heart and soul until i die. )
The fact that Peter Cullen, the voice of Optimus Prime, did this is pretty cool.
Ah, the good old Toonami days... this segment aged very well. (The pure nostalgia, I swear)
Its so sad to go down memory lane. Life back then was so carefree.
1997-2001 Toonami was the truth. If you're in your 30s and watched Cartoon Network frequently, you understand.
Yeah, it's been a very long time since its heyday when Toonami was at its absolute peak of mainstream popularity around the United States in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Aged almost too well lol.
Back when toonami was good
The irony of optimus talking about robots overthrowing humans will never not be funny to me
How is that ironic? Megatron's the one who wants to overthrow humans.
@@mattwo7 megatron ain't the one talking. Optimus is and in a tone that states it as something that will happen rather than something that could happen left unchecked.
@@mattwo7 Because that's what "ironic" means.
I loved how involved Peter Cullen was in toonami. He was a character in their first original production! and just always brought the awesome
Some one had mentioned this was Peter and I forgot. But you can hear it so well and clearly when you are reminded
Peter Cullen voiceover, the sick beat in the background and editing of various clips pulls it all together. "Advanced Robotics" was Toonami at it's finest

Cast in the name of God.
Ye not guilty.
Big O, it's showtime!
Wasn't also on Adult Swim?
They have episodes on RUclips
it's crazy how good this is. They were truly ahead of their time back then, it's sad we don't have such amazing creative producers nowadays
There are many, perhaps not in the same style, but the creators exist
There are, but it’s mainly online now than on television.
Love toonami really introduced me to so many anime’s and new shows.
I have outlaw star on bluray
@@unkono how is it

A classic late 90’s nostalgia..
(Big-O) 🙌🏻
Was there for the birth of it, grew up with it, lived and breathed through it. Thank you for the memories and welcoming anime to us.
Your consistency and quality of content never disappoints!
botted account?

Those Virgo units were fearsome...
@@gundam5281 Especially once they started clumping them together in 3s. Nearly impossible to approach for most, and very difficult even for the Gundam team.
I'd say in big o the humans could believe that they were unmanned.
...some even were
@@generalagondray They probably were during the incident 40 years ago...
Peter Cullen’s voice in this sounds like a halfway point between his Generation One voice and his 07 Movie voice.
...and so began my love for mecha after seeing this promo 20 years ago. Never looked back. Musical Edits by Skateboarders and hip hop fans, Voice Actors dedicated to their craft. One of a kind experience and Peter Cullen was the icing on the cake.
The song playing in the background is "Ignition" from Joe Boyd Vigil. This is the first track on the Toonami Soundtrack CD.
RIP Doc, your voice is iconic forever.
These videos have been an absolute blessing. Here's to 25 more years.
Toonami meant so much to me. It's a huge reason why I've been an anime fan for most of my life.
Why did I know every word...this promo is legendary.
It's fun when you hear voice actors from other anime on TOONAMI
This is no longer a promo it's a prophecy that's being fulfilled
Hey you still got EMP bombs?
Happy 25th Toonami. May you be around for another 25. I love you. Toonami Faithful Forever

YYYEEESSSS BIG OOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
People needa show that show more love.
Adult Swim has been extra nice lately :)
One of the greatest toonami ads ever
Man it is awesome to see these shows again! Thank you for the nostalgia!
Brings back memories.
Krillin yelling and getting slapped out of the air.
Sometimes you just need to have the classics hit you just right to enjoy your day.

years later and it still gives me chills
I love this style of anime!
I started watching Toonami in 3rd grade. It’s beautiful to see them alive. This bring me back to the good old days.
Man these shows were all awesome
Mannnnnnn this a throwback back in the late 90’s early 2000’s I’m 25 now and I remember this 🔥
They cleaned this up nicely.
This was always my favorite bump
Massive shout-out to Slim for remastering god's work
This promo always made me sad, because Gundam Wing and Outlaw Star had been rotated off Toonami's schedule by the time it aired; but there the footage was, teasing the kid me in a pre-RUclips era. :(
Forgot about how unique of a series Big O was . Might have to watch again
I love the combination of anime and western cartoons in this promo!
Even though you can find digital copies if you know where to look, I am jealous of everyone who landed a copy of "Toonami: Deep Space Bass". A lot of the bump music ended up on that album.
This aged really well, didn't it?
"These machines, built by man, serve NO ONE."
It's hard to believe that toonami is 25 years old it seems just like yesterday that moltar was the hosting the show
Toonami needs to be it's own channel frfr
This was truly an era
Megatron: "Where was this energy all those other times?"
The song in question is Ignition by Joe Boyd Vigil.
Best voice EVER!! Well, after James Earl Jones RIP. Good memories!
Absolutely banger of promo this one was always my favorite
God i remember this from so many years ago... Such an awesome trailer w/ that music and narration. Hell Yeah Toonami!!
A compilation of some of the best mecha on television, narrated by the most badass bot of them all.

This promo turned out to be more prescient than ever.
man this one is a classic
How ironic. A voice actor who played a robot telling kids everywhere about a robot cartoon and anime marathon
Toonami continues to blow any/everyone minds back then to now 👊😎
I've missed this so much. I use to love staying up late late watching AS anime. There's streaming services now but this was a whole mood and vibe. Plus this was so much better at introducing anime to western audiences.
Toonami was the best. I miss watching these classic anime shows. The best anime shows ever definitely ahead of their time. So much nostalgia.
I swear toonami and these mecha anime are what led to me getting my mechanical engineering degree right now.
Sweet!
Oh man… memory lane!!!!!! 90s-early 00s childhood was freaking GOLD!!!!!!

Thank you. So many memories...
Thanks again for these
Ah man, what a classic. Thanks for uploading this!
This was my childhood, how this bumps shaped the person I am today.
Love how Peter Cullen Optimus Prime himself talking about Robots taking over
With each passing day this becomes more and more relevant. Time will tell if humanity survives its own creation. ( Edit: Also Toonami was so badass back then. it will have a place in my heart and soul until i die. )
I had almost forgotten that the guy who did these Toonami promo voiceovers also voiced Optimus Prime
☺️😊
Its kinda chilling.
HELL YEAH!! Robots Rule!!!!
The music for Toonami is so good. Love it.
WOO
All of these bumpers are ingrained deep within in a special place in my heart.
Toonami really gave me my love for all things anime. I’ll forever be grateful.
😢 man I miss these days
@SlimD716 is the 🐐!
❤
Used to see this everyday!
These bits made me get into making AMVs as a teenager. Always tried to strive for this quality.
I didn't think I'd remember all the words but I did... and I'm old enough now I can do a proper movie trailer voice like Peter Cullen.
Nostalgia my old friend...
This hits all the spots young me loved 😍
Wow, my brain feelin' tingly from this nostalgia.
Happy birthday Toonami
happy 25th anniversary toonami!!! :3
Jesus Christ where did all these advanced robotics come from?
I feel proud to be able to identify all these shows.
Toonami was so great. Always loved coming home after school to DBZ, Tenchi Muyo and Gundam.
Big O...that was such a cool show...Blue Sub #6...man the memories
Most excellent memories, Thanks 🙏👍
I will watch these every time it comes through my feed
Toonami's golden age. I remember watching this on The Midnight Run
This was a stand out one way back in the day. Like there was such an awe to it. Crazy.
