    Did you stay until the end? What do we think? Do we want this food? Are we afraid or eager to try Ostrich?

    Yip, Braaing is the act of grilling meat over hot coals. Barbeque on the other hand, is a spice. As simple as that!

      That's really funny, I only just know looked up the proper pronounciation 😂 I normally look up pronunciations before making videos, but the crazy thing is I was *so* confident (incorrectly) that I was right about this one that I didn't even bother to look it up. Geez. 😂🙈😂

    It is really sad you left South Africa without a proper braai, come back, and contact me or anyone, we will braai with you, but seriously, come back, will hook you up with a braai that will make you say BBQ what? plus next time go a little more in land, try Knysna, you will love it there, do it during their oyster festival time. Also you cannot go wrong visiting the East coast, but west coast remains the best.
    Loved the video. bring friends next time and seriously let us show you how to braai

    Hey, Mr Get Lost thx for making another SA vid. We had Ostrich in Oudtshoorn 7 (?) years ago during a trip to SA. I can't remember it leaving any kind of impression on me 😄 I do love bobotie though! Thx for letting me know about the Time Out Market, I'd never even heard about it. Sucks that no-one has invited you for a braai (sies julle Suid Afrikaners) if you're still there in Aug when we visit again we can make it happen. You sure those are koeksisters? Koeksisters have a very distinct shape - think greasy fried braided hair🤣

    • @Get.Lost.Travel
      @Get.Lost.Travel  3 месяца назад

      Ah thank you for watching it! I do actually think the Time Out market opened in Cape Town pretty recently! And totally possible, they were labelled as Koeksisters at the restaurant (if you watch the video when they're in the display case you'll see) but that doesn't mean they were right 😂

      My fevered is the Bobotie and I am South African. Yes koeksiters are very sweet and very stickie. Braai is the no 1 event in every house.

    About pulling over and braaing on Chapman's peak, I would advise you don't, unless there are designated fire pits. There have been some enormous wildfires on and around Table Mountain recently and it is quite risky to have an open fire like that. Again, if there is a designated cooking area, like on a campsite or picnic area, go for it :)

      There are boere style koeksusters & the cape Malay koesusters are different - more spice & coconut is sprinkled after the syrup

      @@Get.Lost.Travel The koe-sister (one k) is derived form the Indonesian "kueh sago" and "kueh lapis." The koek-sister (two ks) is derived from a combo of the french tresse and the dutch olykoeks. Olykoeks is also the origin of the American doughnut and tresse is a plat. So its basically just a glazed donut where the dough is platted in a twist.
