Biltong is lightyears ahead of american jerky, its not even close. Half the American jerky on the market is just overprocessed crap

As an American, I mostly agree. Biltong is the real deal. Though we do have amazing jerky.

Biltong can be tough. I have always enjoyed it sliced very thin. Biltong also has more fat content. Jerky - typical sliced, marinated, then cooked. Biltong - typically cured in vinegar, air-dried, then sliced.

Who made that biltong? I love biltong and what y'all had seemed questionable lol
If it's gonna be that dry, it needs to be sliced thin. If they were gonna slice it thicker, it'd need to be wetter, and that wouldn't survive long on the shelf, so. What they went with is not a combination that works, evidently! A good thick-sliced biltong ought to be still moist and kind of like a rare steak, but what you got looked like it tasted more like the packaging it came in and had the texture of old boots. Sorry that this was your first experience of it.

the already packed biltong is normally not that great, im south african and love biltong. the best biltong is if you go to a proper biltong stall and choose a piece and let them cut it into slices and that is the best biltong and softer to eat also the animal on the pack is a springbok, a buck a national animal.
you guys should also try dry wors if possible to get hold of it.
there is so many great snacks and chocolate and chips like
      simba chips
      peppermint crisp chocolate
      ghost pops
      ps chocolate
      tex chocolate
i could go on for ages.
try get some of the above and more.
